Avatar n tn Under your circumstances for all practical purposes, you should listen to your physician instead of health Insurance underwriters. Depending on if you elected COBRA after leaving your former employer, you may have the following options: If you elected COBRA after leaving your employment, you can continue with the COBRA coverage as long you pay your premiums, for 18 months from when you left your employment.
Avatar n tn EECP that is approved by AHA/AAC and insurance underwriters, and it is a procedure that is non-evasive and usually recommended for patients that may be a high risk for surgery. Surviving surgery depends on your mother's current constituation, concomitant health issues, health history (prior strokes may be an issue), age, etc. You may have to trust the doctor's judgement!. 374652 tn?1494811435 I doubt she can get insurance as long as the tests show antibodies. Most insurance co's consider antibodies the same as having "active" HCV. I just discussed this with a friend that has a very large Ins agency. I asked him about getting a letter from a doctor and he laughed and said even a letter from the President or Pope and still none of the several companies he writes for would insure me.
Avatar f tn I have had heart failure symptoms (but controlled) going on 8 years. Insurance underwriters consider an EF below 30% to be heart failure and my EF has been in heart failure mode, but with medications, diet, exercise, etc. my EF is 59% and heart size has returned to normal as well. Many individuals (estimated to be 26%) do not know they are in heart failure mode because there are no symptoms for this group. I didn't know I had a heart condition until congested heart failure...lung edema.
Avatar m tn There are certainly very strict HIPPA and privacy regulations as well as simple doctor-patient confidentiality, however as soon as any information hits the insurers, all bets are off. All insurance companies share their vast information about all of us with each other and all the underwriters, so even though the employers or schools may not find out; if you ever what to buy life/health or other insurance the information will be there. And if it is there for them, who else is it there for?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.
Avatar m tn VRTX - News) today announced that it intends to offer, subject to market and other conditions, 6,000,000 shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering under an automatically effective shelf registration statement on file with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Vertex intends to grant the underwriters an over-allotment option to purchase up to an additional 900,000 shares of its common stock.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.
250051 tn?1328131130 s demand for oxygenated blood and heart failure mode recognized by insurance underwriters is an EF below 30%. Your cardiovascular system dysfunction should be treated and monitored by a cardiologist. You are on medication for ischemia (low oxygen level to heart cells) and that is almost always due to occlusions (partial blockage) of heart vessels.
Avatar n tn s father insurance he has really good insurance...

1282384 tn?1271431332 Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?
Avatar f tn Hello! So I got a new job and didn't sign up for the vision plan because I have plenty of contacts, so decided to sign up during enrollment in January, but I did sign up for Medica health insurance. Now I have a growth in the corner of my eye. Not on the eyeball but in the way corner next to the nose. It is red, doesn't hurt or itch, is just super annoying because it touches by eye sometimes and feels like some eye boogers and I constantly want to rub it away.
507504 tn?1291967104 the lightaheadness as gone away a little bit except when using bathroom when pushing i see more dots and more light and lightheades...what does this mean ? have no insurance and wont until middle of nov..
Avatar n tn Insurance underwriters usually accepts below 30% as heart failure as does social security claims. I always considered the >30% to be a little high as there are many individuals that function well with an EF in the 20's?! When I went to the ER having had a silent heart attack and then CHF my EF according to a cath was about 13% and an echo calculated it to be 24%. I walked into the ER and the only symptoms I had was slight shortness of breath and a dry cough.
233488 tn?1310693103 Don't take your doctor's word that your insurance won't cover the multifocal lens. My insurance paid for it after I explained all the facts to them. The doctors office had only submitted it after I hounded them about it. When they did it went as a non-medically necessary facility charge. When I explained to insurance it was not that. When a cataract is removed a lens is necessary. This marked the cost from $2,000 down to $120. that insurance covered.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 years old and started having occasional increased eye pressures at around 12. My vision in left eye is 20/60 and in right eye is 20/240. In the last 2 years I've had 3 eye examinations which all came back with pressures increased in both eyes left ranges 22-24 but right eye is 29-34. My eye DR. did a visual field test and it seems I have a blind spot in my upper right field in the right eye.
Avatar f tn I have Chiari Malformation and I had decompression surgery where they removed the bottom of my skull and the top half of the C1 vertebrae. I also still have chronic migraines and I don’t have vision insurance to go have a full work up at the optometrist. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The “magnification” of the left eye is pretty bothersome. I also have very frequent blurry vision that I can’t clear up by blinking or rubbing my eyes.
2204316 tn?1338833844 I was on 4 different eye drops, had antibiotics (oral and 2 shots), steroids, and saw 3 different doctors. It finally cleared up but the vision in my left eye is now changed. It is blurry and I see a halo around lights at night. The opthamologist said my eyes were dry and advised me to use dry eye drops. I had just gotten new glasses and contacts a couple months before and now I can't wear my contacts and can't see that well with my glasses.
Avatar f tn I live in Texas & just qualified for Medicaid for Pregnant Women since I have a deductable with my insurance & it won't cover my appts. I was just wondering if it covers dentist visits & vision & stuff or do I have to have full medicaid for that? Anybody know?
892068 tn?1241306467 m 51 and spent the last seven years going through six optometrists trying to get clear distance vision for driving. Note that not one did a pupil dilation. My initial visit with the first office was because I complained of double vision at night. This was after having worn Ortho-Ks for 12 years with tremendous satisfaction with 20/10 correction. Last year I was finally been diagnosed with cataracts of both eyes.
Avatar n tn I would suggest you insist your doctor give your husband a full refraction (eye exam) and find out exactly what his prescription is, including any astigmatism, then see if he can be helped with progressive glasses. If his vision improves with glasses and he can see to read and drive he will be in better shape than many other Rezoom patients.
Avatar n tn Since the second operation, I have had double vision. This is now over four weeks. When does it go away. At first, I had to hold on to my son's shoulder to walk in the store, like the blind walk. However, it is somewhat better, as I can see most of the time, but I have not attempted to drive at night. I see halo's around all lights. I have not attempted to play tennis anymore, as I do not know which ball to hit.
Avatar n tn d like to minimize your dependence on glasses, consider having your lenses set for blended vision (distance vision in dominant eye, intermediate vision in nondominant eye). With this correction, you might only need glasses for prolonged reading or seeing small print.
