Avatar f tn I am ready to have my cataracts removed. I told my doctor what I would like to achieve is the best possible distance vision and the best possible night vision. I do not mind wearing reading glasses. I had monovision with Lasik and would like to do the same with the cataract surgery. The plans was to have good distance vision in my right I and then put a Crystal Lens ($1500 extra) in my left eye for reading.(He was really pushing for me to upgrade to the multifocal lenses).
Avatar n tn Hello ! Has anyone had malcular pucker surgery for an eye that has 20/40 vision ? I am 66 years old and know that the earlier you have this done...the better the outcome may be. Could I resonably expect to get 20/20 back in this eye ? My other eye is 20/20 but of course need reading glasses. Any comments in regards to your experiences with this type of surgery would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I was afraid that's what you would say. He has not had health insurance until recently. His blood sugars and HGB AlC are not bad. He covers his meals with injections and checks his blood sugars regularly. He is looking to get a pump as soon as his eye problem is resolved. I'm more concerned that his eye surgery has done more harm than good and I just want him to be able to see his bride walking down the aisle, and live and long and healthly life.
Avatar f tn Now it is causing a strain on my right eye, which is not my dominant eye. He said that eye is getting worse, so he scheduled by cataract surgery for 2 weeks. He said he's never seen a patient not gain full vision after having this removed, and I could tell he was baffled. Is there any chance something was not done right with the removal surgery? Now I need to pay $1600 for the special lens out of my pocket in addition to the remaining charges.
Avatar n tn and he said he has a broken blood vessel in the retina that has done damage. It has never been red in that eye. I asked how that could have happened and he said high blood pressure (which he does not have) or could come from coughing. He has had a cough for years and never had any problems with this before. My dad thinks he got a bad surgery and the dr. is just covering up. Has anyone had anything like this? And is so can you have another surgery to correct this? My dad is 84 years old.
607284 tn?1224793302 As I understand it, this is not so much for improving the vision in that eye, but to control the edema of the macula/retina. As my doctor bluntly puts it, it is to "save the eye". I'd like some additional insight as to what these injections are supposedly doing for me, and what may happen if I were to discontinue them? I'm really sick of it, and it's quite costly!
Avatar f tn Ok that makes sense, so even if I go to an eye doctor, the medical insurance covers it becuase the vision insurance is just specifically for vision problems right, as in glasses and contacts, not all eye related problems?
Avatar f tn As I understand it if she covers her bad eye things look fine. If she covers her good eye she sees distortion, ghosting, metamorphosia in the bad eye. You are having true double vision in that you see 2 distinct images and with covering each eye in turn the doubling goes away. Double vision following RD surgery is relatively common. In some instances it clears up without treatment and that is what we hope would happen to you.
Avatar f tn I had cataract surgery on left eye on 5/27/08. Good result. I could see distance clearly from both eyes. Didn't even need to use reading glasses. My right eye had a cataract as well but Dr. said I could wait since I had good vision. I decided to go ahead with right eye on 8/19/08 because vision was still "yellowish" if I closed left eye. Big mistake.
6295353 tn?1395241495 It depends on the state you live in and type of pregnancy medicaid. Sometimes it isn't covered. I work for an eye doctor though, and we don't recommend eye exams while pregnant. It is too likely for your vision to change, in which case you'd be wasting either your money or your insurance, which only covers an exam every few years through medicaid.
1282384 tn?1271431332 I'm 36 years old and had cataract surgery on my right eye over 6 years ago. Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?
7439659 tn?1390838706 My situation is that I got cataract surgery in both my eyes over the last month (corrected for near vision). The left eye is now very good but the right eye improved only slightly. My eye surgeon determined it's because of a epiretinal membrane in the right eye along with some thickening of the retina. My question is ...
Avatar f tn She needs to see an eye MD ophthalmologist very soon. When the cataract turns white it can get too ripe, break up in the eye and require emergency surgery. Get her to a good cataract surgeon soon. White cataracts are also more difficult to remove. It's also important to know if there is anything inside the eye that is worrisome that the cataract covers up and lastly her "good" eye needs careful examination.
Avatar f tn m nearsighted and have presbyopia requiring reading glasses. My health insurance (Aetna EPO Open Access) appears covers having the cataracts removed and the installation of a monofocal lens. At the ophthalmologists office the doctor's discussion on my lens options was a bit one sided favoring multifocus premium lenses such as Crystalens HD, Restor Aspheric, and ReZoom which the insurance doesn't cover.
Avatar n tn However, when I move my eye to the right, this somewhat blurry cloud slides in from the left and covers my vision to make things blurry. When I blink it becomes clear again until the next time I move my eye to the right (which is a lot). I called the doctor and he said it could be a leftover piece from the YAG that will go away or maybe a flap that will fold.?? He was speaking through his nurse on the phone and didn't explain.
Avatar m tn Today l saw my surgeon for a check up on the operated eye and the eye pressure in that eye was 27 compared to 15 in the non operated eye. My normal average eye pressure 16 so l am worried l have 27 in the operated eye a week after surgery. My surgeon said he thinks it will be tempory and gave me a new additional eye drop brimonidine to lower it. My fear is the cataract surgery may have permanent raised the eye pressure and l may not be able to lower it with eye drops.
Avatar f tn I asked him if I was crazy. 20/20 vision in L eye? 20/ 25/30 in the worse-cataract R eye? Many people would kill for those kinds of numbers. And yet I'm miserable. Outside of riding on two wheels, I am not a risk taker at all! Crystalens? I would REALLY feel like a huge risk taker. My questions: 1. Am I crazy for even considering cataract surgery? I don't want to risk going blind or having more problems than I do now. 2.
Avatar f tn ve been monitored for macular degeneration(surgery at 17 and am now 27). I do not have insurance at this moment. Is it something I should be concerned with?
Avatar m tn No it dumps the rancid oil in the gland under the surface tissue and creates a tissue reaction called a pyogenic granuloma. The material does not have access to drain to the surface.
Avatar n tn However, I am concerned that vision imbalance will be a problem for me if my right eye gets tired such that I cannot wear the contact. In view of vision imbalance, should I instead have a lens implanted in the left eye that takes it to -6, which I understand would be a tolerable (i.e., not noticeable) vision imbalance?
Avatar f tn Also my vision is very different between the two. My right eye used to be my dominant eye but that has changed. My left eye makes things look very magnified and my right eye seems to be blurry more often than not. Does anybody have any ideas? I have Chiari Malformation and I had decompression surgery where they removed the bottom of my skull and the top half of the C1 vertebrae. I also still have chronic migraines and I don’t have vision insurance to go have a full work up at the optometrist.
