11140311 tn?1427813351 I am lucky enough to have the job I have. I work in a hospital, they offer us health insurance and if we choose to get seen here at the hospital for any reason, it is completely covered, what the insurance doesn't cover, the hospital takes care of the rest of it. So I just pay about $40/month for health insurance and everything else is taken care of. I am blessed.

Avatar f tn so I just found out today that my insurance was canceled and had to pay out of pocket for my doctors appointment. My insurance company said that they had sent me papers in the mail and I never got them I've lived at the same address over 6 years. I love in a apartment complex btw. I wrote a email and now they said I make too much money in my household. I live with my boyfriend who is jobless and I had to take leave from work because I'm a high risk pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The American Academy of Ophthalmology has for years run “Eye Care for America” in which free care is provided. Contact them to learn more. Many people can finance their medical care with what they spend on alcohol, tobacco, gambling and fancy clothes and vacations. 75% of the people in the United States that don’t have insurance CAN afford it but choose not to get it gambling they won’t get sick or injured. That’s never a good bet.

Avatar f tn I had a laser iridotomy a few days ago (in the right eye) and have noticed that the colors seem muted (not as bright or vivid) and darker when I look out of that eye as opposed to the crispness of the colors in the left eye. Could this be a possible side-effect of the procedure? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn The ACA... Bankrupt the nation for the sake of giving 20million people insurance. (but lets not talk about how many people will LOSE their current insurance. Shhhhhhhhhh... nothing to see here. Look away) Never been a fan of ACA, never will. Even if it was GWB's stupid, hair-brained idea, I'd STILL be against it. Has nothing to do with the fact that the current idiot thought it up and made it his mission to force down our throats. It's a BAD idea, and ill conceived.
964075 tn?1390448278 t want to live the next 20-30 years with this condition and is willing to help me ELIMINATE the vision of my right eye. Avatar m tn Then, while stationed in south america I became very sick with a viral or bacterial infection that had me in and outof the hospital for many months even resulting in loss of vision in one eye. Eventually well, I thought nothing of it until two years later for a physical a severe murmur was discovered. I'd never had any hint of a murmur previously. Is it possible a severe infection could cause the damage to start?

280369 tn?1316702041 that your vision will be 20/20 for the rest of your life. I understand about the price of glasses and realistically having Lasik was a cost savings for me. While I wear glasses, I do not have the ridiculously expensive lenses that eye places had trouble making for me due to my degree of refraction. I would make sure to get 2 opinions.
1370830 tn?1280176503 m very sorry for your condition. Please look up the Eye Care Foundation of America website. There are doctors who will help you. You probably need cataract surgery and fortunately this is a quick procedure which can drastically help you. If you have pituitary disease or optic chiasm disease and/or occipital lobe disease then you may have some level of neurologic blindness which won't be improved with cataract surgery completely. I hope this helps, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D. www.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.

Avatar m tn I saw statistics saying the RD rate of people in North America is 0.3% (or 1/300) during the life time. What is the theoretical RD rate of my right eye given the fact that I have RD in the left eye? Is it more close to 5% or 15%? I am thinking if the RD rate is around 5% and the laser can lower the rate a bit to let say 3 or 4 %, I may rather wait until there is a symptom. I am going to see the Retinal specialist tomorrow and like to prepare a bit better.
