Avatar m tn It realistically more and more seems to be the only answer especially during this time with all the mediscare going on and the medicaid that will be cut as well for seniors in nursing homes and home health care and the like. I am a member of AARP. I do not carry my auto insurance thru them as it is higher than what I have.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have had good services from Medicare over the past 9 years, but the future doesn't look good with the roll out of Obama's Affordable Health Care plan. I have seen limits but only on preventative services and test... diagnostic and treatment are different. For example I just had an echocardiogram less than one year after having my once every two years routine/preventative exam. This recent echo was diagnostic not routine.
Avatar f tn Several years ago I developed severe itching, which over a few months spread. It started on the left side below my shoulder blade (notalgia paresthetica), then my scalp, then on the edges of my face, then on my left lower back. Scratching felt good but didn't relieve the itch and irritated my skin. Topical creams didn't help. My dermatologist said my (otherwise sensitive) skin looked healthy. He prescribed gabapentin, which I had to ease into to avoid side effects.

233488 tn?1310693103 If both of your eyes need implants, you will probably want both set at the same focal point for stereo vision for your photography, probably at plano. Implanting Crystalens is trickier than the other IOL's, so you need a Dr. that has had a lot of success implanting it.

Avatar f tn The health care industry is pushing for repeal of a Medicare cost-control board in the law, saying more cuts will reduce access for seniors. What will Obama do if seniors start having problems getting the care they need? A: The administration says that's unlikely to happen. Cuts are being introduced gradually, and dozens of pilot programs are testing ways to provide better care for less money. Health care costs are in a lull, buying time to make changes.

1816210 tn?1327354884 Probably not a good idea to try to take your mother's walker......... lol If insurance, disability or Medicare won't cover one, check out a local hospice thrift store or something; they can often be found very inexpensively at such places. My neighbor got one for an elderly family member for around $5. You can do a google search for videos that will let you see what Yoga for Seniors is like. Google "Yoga for Seniors youtube".

My vision remains distorted in the affected eye but i am able to continue working and driving at this stage. th retinal specialist told me that my vision will progressively deteriorate, but of course cannot give a time frame. he did say that i wont wake one day and be blind, it will be progressive, but that the progression could be rapid. Im in a rush for time because it is now Monday and still no authorization from insurance company for my Thursday appt. of MRI. I have an appointment on Feb 13th for brain MRI with and without contrast. The secretary just called me to tell me that my insurance feels I do not need the contrast.
Avatar f tn Surgeons put the Implantable Miniature Telescope in one eye, allowing the person to improve central vision for tasks like reading, watching TV and recognizing faces. Doctors leave the other eye alone to provide peripheral vision. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504763_162-20009834-10391704.html?tag=latest The trick here is that the brain must fuse the two different views into a single image.
Avatar f tn The previous guidelines set the threshold at 140/90 mm Hg for people younger than age 65 and 150/80 mm Hg for those ages 65 and older." It goes on to say why they made the change to seniors needing to have lower numbers. Normal is less than 120 for everyone now.
