1264863 tn?1391118193 hi there, go call you physician or dentist and ask for a prescription of benadryl, maalox, and lidocaine. It is commonly known as the "magic mouthwash" and I used to prescribe it all the time for patients going through chemo or had systemic diseases that created chronic apthous ulcers (aka canker sores.) If for some reason you can't get to the dr., use the combination of equal parts liquid benadryl and maalox (or mylanta) gargle and swish for 60 seconds then spit..
Avatar m tn I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.
Avatar m tn I would see a dentist to make sure what it is. In the mean time you can mix 1/2 and 1/2 liquid benadryl and maalox or other liquid indigestion medication and swish it around your mouth. Tht won't hurt you but y ou need to find out if the ulcer is due to yeast because you will need an anti-fungal to get rid of that.
Avatar f tn Magic mouthwash relieves pain I swish it before eating and after eating. Kaiser prescribed it to me has lidocaine and statin antibiotic in Maalox solution.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a similar problem. I take several medications that cause dry mouth. I use Biotene products and they help somewhat. I get mouth ulcers from having a dry mouth and using Symbicort. Maalox/liquid Benadryl eases the pain, but doesn't prevent the mouth ulcers. I also get repeated thrush infections despite brushing and rinsing everytime I use Symbicort. I'm sure it has to do with dry mouth.
Avatar f tn I talked with my PCP tonight and he has doubled my Clonidine (.1 mg twice a day now) and also ordered viscous LIdocaine for me to swallow before I eat so that I can keep food down. Viscous Lidocaine is basically this clear goupy stuff that numbs your throat and stomach. It is almost exclusively prescribed to people with stomach cancer. I told him how angry I was and how badly I feel and he told me it WILL get better, but that everyone is different.
1216595 tn?1284933208 it’s a swish ‘n swallow concoction that typically has benadryl, Maalox and lidocaine; and sometimes nystatin to help with any fungal problems. It numbs on contact; most insurance covers it too, I think. Drs are usually familiar with it, it’s used in cancer chemo too.
Avatar n tn Approx. 12 yrs ago I was diagnosed with genital herpes, I have always been faithful to my husband and don't understand how this happened. My husband and I have had several discussions about this. We are wondering if He could have given HSV-2 to me. Twice between the time we met 19 yrs ago and the time I was diagnosed he had severe blister lesions in his throat and was wondering if perhaps he may have HSV-2 in his throat. He has had this outbreak 3 times in 25 yrs.
Avatar f tn For my UTI doctor prescribe me amoxicillin and for my sore lidocaine viscous. On saturday night i noticed that i have a sore around vagina area. The sore is circle shaped red and looks it is fill with puss. Today i woke up i found 5 new sores. Are they herpes. Im freaking out . Other thing i havent eaten since friday my mouth and teeth hurt so bad + my lymph nodes are extremely swollen.
Avatar f tn I have now asked my doctor to prescribe Lidocaine, and I will make my own. Supposedly, you use Maalox, Childrens liquid Benadryl and the Lidocane, but I don't know how much of each. I'll look it up when (if) I need to. Now that I'm going back to work in Sept., I hope and pray so hard that these sores don't come back because it hurts and I look like a monster. Also, if a person is a Herpes Simplex carrier, it can manifest itself while on tx.
Avatar m tn It is a ‘swish ‘n swallow Rx concoction that contains various proportions of Maalox, benadryl (anti-inflammatory), lidocaine (anesthetic), and sometimes Nystatin (antifungal). It numbs on contact to make eating and drinking a bit easier, although it doesn’t last too long. Typically it’s prescribed to take 5-6 times daily, or as needed.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend is a medical transcriptionists and the benadryl & maalox is what they reccomend, it works good. The sides of my tongue gets raw from rubbing my teeth and at night my retainers. I guess we just have to deal with it.
Avatar n tn It came on really quickly and the doctor has me on Prilosec and antacids after meals and at bedtime, and she just added viscous lidocaine solution to numb the esophagus. I'm eating a low acidic diet and combining my foods properly. Has anyone out there had this terrible thing and if so, any other suggestions?
745313 tn?1323142298 If you’re just trying to manage this, there’s a prescription product called ‘Magic Mouthwash’ that needs to be formulated by the pharmacist; it contains equal parts of Lidocaine, Maalox, and Benadryl—and sometimes Nystatin as well. This stuff numbs on contact, and provides near-immediate relief, but doesn’t often deal with the root cause. This **** can be a nuisance; I wish him well.
Avatar f tn The treatment alters the "chemistry" in your body and your mouth. Good bacterias decrease in number during treatment letting yeast take over which causes these sores you speak of. Try swishing (and eating) yogurt with active cultures or just drinking milk with acidophilus several times a week.
Avatar n tn It’s a swish and swallow liquid that needs to be prescribed by a doctor, but works on contact. It contains lidocaine, Maalox, and Nystatin; it numbs on contact. You can also try eating some yogurt; and there are things like Biotene toothpaste and rinse that seem to help some too.
Avatar f tn The magic mouthwash that I know of is maalox, benedryl, and lidocaine. It'll soothe the sores and make it feel better but it won't actually get rid of the thrush. I found, I was plagued with it for the last few months of tx. I took Nystatin continuously, found that, it didn't get rid of it but at least kept it at bay. The yoghurt with live cultures is a good suggestion, also acidopholus capsules.
Avatar n tn At the time of the test, I was still taking viscous lidocaine for throat ulcers. Used two 100 ml bottles in four weeks, just started third bottle. I seem to either be having a gastroparesis flare or something else. Nausea until I eat in the morning, abdominal pain after eating, gurgling, weight loss, no appetite, difficulty in staying even hydrated. I supplement with ensure. Throat ulcers are two: larger than a quarter, one on each side of the uvula.
Avatar f tn Hypermagnesemia, hypomagnesemia, and increased tendon reflexes have been reported in infants whose mothers were using aluminum and magnesium containing antacid products chronically and in high or excessive doses during their pregnancy. No congenital defects have been reported with the use of simethicone. Animal studies with simethicone-coated cellulose suspension have not revealed maternal or fetal toxicity; however, animal studies are not always predictive of human risk.
5432782 tn?1368806956 Hi Growzer, I'm in Canada, too. Do you have access to a walk-in clinic? Most docs know about Magic Mouthwash. You can also make it yourself in a pinch: equal parts Mylanta, children's Benadryl and viscous lidocaine. The lidocaine can be purchased without a prescription (it's kept behind the counter). Keep in a clean bottle in the fridge, shake well before using as needed. This will tide you over until Tuesday.
Avatar f tn s a combination of benedryl liquid, maalox and lidocaine, you swish it over the sores and it numbs and also heals them up faster. But you need to see a dentist or doctor for that. There are pastes in the dental isles for cankor sores that you could use to cover the sore and numb it, Canka makes one and I'm sure there are others.
Avatar n tn There is definitely a pain in my esophagus. My doctor said use Maalox. Do i take it before or after eating and how will that make it easier to swallow?
Avatar f tn No relief and now has gastroenteritis from all the steroids and NSAIDS. Back to the ER and treated with viscous lidocaine and mylanta to numb stomach. This actually helped a little with stomach. I've stopped the neurontin, but have continued the topamax once daily. Now we are taking Prilosec and mylanta. This has changed my entire families life for exactly one month. It's been a living nightmare that seems as though it will never end. We just want to get back to our normal life's.
475300 tn?1312423126 weight gain, sleeplessness, too sleepy during the day, lethargy, sweating, upset stomach, constipation and on and on and on..., you get the picture. I just decided to give up on them and do something different.
Avatar f tn Thrush and oral lichen planus can easily be confused. Lichen planus is an auto-immune disease and there is no cure... only treatment for the symptoms. I have had lichen planus for about 8 years now. It began on the skin on my legs, feet and chest but I didn't get it diagnosed until I had a few bouts of what I thought was thrush. My dermatologist diagnosed it with a skin biopsy on my chest - he didn't want me to have to have a mouth biopsy.
