Virus infection on skin

Common Questions and Answers about Virus infection on skin

infection

Avatar f tn You can have a viral infection anywhere, incl. one hand. Has a doctor diagnosed it as such?
Avatar f tn Then this person hugged me and touched my skin and my question is if they had gotten blood on their hand/fingers and then touched my skin with the blood, would the virus stay alive for any amount of time or would it be a risk of infection if I touch that part of my skin later and then touch say my eyes or vagina, etc?
Avatar n tn The point of a vaccine is to create anti-bodies to a specific virus or the like and prevent infection from that virus or the like. What better model than someone who has well established anti-bodies (3 yrs) to prove out whether or not immunity to HSV-2 is even possible. I'm healthy, rarely ever get sick and work out regularly. What do you think Grace? This has been on my mind since Jan 10th and I don't know how to get a definitive answer.
Avatar m tn culture of the virus, direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) studies to detect virus, skin biopsy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for presence of viral DNA. I sincerely advise you to consult a dermatologist and get it ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn Hi, Genital warts are the most easily recognized sign of genital HPV infection. It is a highly contagious sexually transmitted infection caused by some sub-types of human papillomavirus (HPV). It is spread through direct skin-to-skin contact during oral, genital, or anal sex with an infected partner. The viral particles are able to penetrate the skin and mucosal surfaces through microscopic abrasions in the genital area, which occur during sexual activity.
Avatar f tn I would get cracks that would bleed almost everywhere on my mouth then it would heal and all the skin on my lips would peel off. It got to the point where I wouldn't have any creases in my lips it was just flat raw skin, then that would heal for a day and happen all over again and I ALWAYS ALWAYS have flem in my throat. Now about a month or 2 ago my mouth started getting what looked like 3rd degree burns all over my lips and it hurts, burns and tingles.
Avatar n tn the skin on the penis is torn up wen ever i shag it starts bleedin and it burns can nyone help me about this
Avatar f tn My son is three years old and has started having little globules of skin form on his neck, chest and chin over the past one month or so. The one on his neck started off as being skin colour and has now started to diminish in size and started to turn a darker colour. What could be the causes and what are the possible lines of treatment?
Avatar m tn First off I just want to say I don't know where I to post this but this is the close one I can find to mine or maybe not the same at all sorry! Hey my name is Louis I'm 19. I've had some type of viral illness for about 23 days now I think. I don't know what kind it is but I'll walk you threw everything.
Avatar m tn ve got into my blood stream OR after getting the needle off me some virus on the cotton ball used to stop bleeding would enter my blood stream through the hole left by the needle. I do mot worry much about HIV but I worry about Hepatits C since I am vaccinated for Hepatitis B. Am I at any risk so that I will have to be followed regarding Hepatits C or HIV infection? Thank you and excuse me if my English has not helped...
Avatar f tn 1. The virus lives on the skin and does it matter if it is on or off? It's present and it's there. The virus goes away once the skin has healed completely. 2. Pecks don't typically give enough for tranmission. 3. HSV-1 genitally comes if you do not have HSV-1 antibodies already present. If you have HSV already it will not go to a new site typically since your body has an immune response to fight it.

Avatar f tn With that timeframe it is possible the virus was present on the lips. There are still many requirements such as whether there was sufficient amount of the virus to cause infection and whether it was rubbed sufficiently toward a nerve ending. I don't feel the chances of infection exceed 1-2%. How long have you been with this partner? Interestingly some people may build immunity in their skin layers through ongoing light exposure to HSV.
Avatar n tn So therefore if something that looks like a cluster of warts was to appear 5-7years ago on the inside of the thighs then dissapear within 10 days and has not returned, this means it will not return unless there is skin to skin contact with someone that has an active wart, yes/no? Like you mentioned, the flu, once it is gone its gone and you do not catch it unless you kiss or come in contact with someone with the flu.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much guys I really appreciate it.
Avatar m tn correct, it's not a skin infection - just lesions show up on the skin periodically from the virus being active. have you ever read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com? it's a free and terrific online resource.
Avatar n tn Fears of this sort are not warranted. HIV is spread through sex or through injection of the virus through the skin into the blood stream. It is not spread by incidental cuts or scrapes and is not spread on inanimate objects such as pins or sharp edges. Transmission of the sort you mention has never been described.
Avatar n tn warts can disappear without treatment. but warts appear due to the hpv virus. the hpv virus stays in the body though the wart disappears, and they generally become less transient and less active after 2 years. however one can have the hpv and not have an apparent wart because of a strong immune system. It would be a good idea to talk to your partner about this. but its also possible that you were transmitted the virus from your partner or maybe from a previous partner.
Avatar f tn Is that because just brushing off testicules for a few seconds on hard skin is not enough to contract he virus? I have been told that hard skin won't shed The virus..
Avatar f tn Thank you very much :) is it possible one of the doctors could please respond?
Avatar f tn I was using the rest room at a local pub and after finishing when i came out, i saw a small cut on my skin that usually is done by a sharp object or surface. It was bleeding slightly. Now i dont know what object caused the cut but was worried if there is any chance of infection assuming the sharp object was already contaminated with body fluid like blood. Regards and thank you for the response.
Avatar n tn t even enjoy my time because With this cut on my lip i was scared i was gonna get a virus or herpes by someone spitting on my lip. So I left early. I wish I wasn't someone that worries so much. Ugh. I hate it.
Avatar f tn My 5 yr old daughter and I both have common warts on our faces. We have been using Dr School's freeze away. They seem to go away for a little while but then they return. Her's are not as bad as mine. Mine are huge and ugly! I was told that they are related to HPV is that true and should I have her checked?
Avatar n tn Since last month I have felt that the skin on the penis has gone very sensitive. The fore skin of the penis is circumsized and I feel rashes and small cuts around the penis just below the head. These rashes and cuts are more pronounced specially after the intercourse, as I start feeling pain and burning during the erosl time. Some time even I see small amount of blood from the rashes (which is created within that 3-4 mins time of intercourse).

Avatar m tn Hi. This question has been asked by others before, but I have been unable to find an explicit answer. I am wondering if a syphilis lesion ("chancre") can pass the virus through intact skin, such as the one on the base of the penis shaft. The wikipedia entry (and some other articles) read that this is only possible through "intact mucous membranes or COMPROMISED skin.
