Viread resistance

Common Questions and Answers about Viread resistance

viread

Avatar f tn tenofovir (viread) is much stronger than baraclude and has 0 resistance but have some mild sides in 1% cases of kidney toxicity and bone demineralization.seroconvertion on tenofovir is similar to interferon and in case of past use of lam with resistance or adefovir with no resistance is the best safe choice. baraclude (entecavir) has 1.2% of resistance and on animal models causes cancer at doses 40 times higher than those in humans.
Avatar n tn You treated with Lamivudine alone and developed resistance. Then your doctor took you off Lamivudine and gave you Hepsera (Adefovir). If so it's a terrrible treatment strategy. If you just taking Adefovir now, you should absolutely go on the trial. Either option is better for you than Adefovir at this point. If you develop resistance to Adefovir as well, you will be at higher risk for resistance to other HepB antivirals.
Avatar m tn There has not been any report of Viread resistance and they have been monitoring it for over 5 years. ALT can change, for example, after heavy drinking. With ALT and viral load, one should not be too concerned with small variations, but watch out for the trend or persistence. Also you must take your medication faithfully as it is a frequent reason to reported flare in viral load.
Avatar m tn d change doctor, make a resistance test to see if you developped any resistance and make entecavir 1mg+tenofovir 300mg (baraclude+viread) combo, consider adding alinia (nizonide500) off label therapy or combo with interferon too to see if you lower hbsag or make it negative because as you know NUCs like entecavir and tenofovir have no effect on virus clearance they just make hbvdna und
Avatar m tn Viread is Tenofovir. It's shares a similar chemical stucture to ADV, but it's many folds more powerful, better resistance barrier, and less toxic to kidney. Approval was expected in Europe and the US. Yes, there's a business side to meds, but this is great news for those with chronic HepB.
Avatar m tn As another person said, are doctors just being conservative here? Perhaps giving Viread some time to see if the lower resistance holds? And concerns over kidney toxicity and perhaps osteoporosis? Possibly more risky in this regard than the long-tested Hepsera?
1303524 tn?1323140356 the problems are hbvdna in the billions, in this situation 10% babys get the virus despite vaccine if you have to start an antiviral tenofovir (viread) is the best since it has no resistance detected so the safest among antivirals, actually the doctor made right choice since hbvdna in the billions needs most potent antiviral and viread may be potent enough if not they will add another antiviral combo you are probably hbe positive, do you also have hbsag quantity iu/ml, hbvdna iu/ml, hbe quanti
Avatar f tn I've been on Viread a few months with good results so far. Before meds and at 2 month mark my kidney level was unchanged (gfr and creatine good). I know Viread has that risk long term of kidney damage, which worries me since most will need it longterm or life, as of what's available now. I have read taking baking soda is good for kidneys. Should I start this, or only of I see changes in labs?
Avatar f tn My husband is currently taking Viread for HepB and his doctor told us that there is a 5-6% chance of birth defects if I become pregnant. Has anyone heard this before? I see that women who are the ones taking the med take it while pregnant so I'm a bit confused/hopeful.
Avatar m tn Also, as of yet Viread has no resistance. I would make sure your kindeys are functioning well by GFR and creatinine. This is the main side effect but if your kidney labs are good then you should be ok.
Avatar f tn I had abnormal kidney function 6 months ago and doctor told me to split Viread in half...which I know think was a bad direction since I may create resistance to Viread.
Avatar m tn html very good news, so i assume it is very important to have hbvdna und (hbv silenced as researchers call it) probably even in inactive carriers to lower the liver cancer risk to the minimum
Avatar n tn reduced bone density, more toxic to the kidneys, and possible changes in body fat. Viread offers a 5% chance of loss of HBsAg in 48 weeks while Baraclude offers a 5% chance in 96 weeks. Why not just take Baraclude?
Avatar m tn I am a healthy carrier of HBV and have been taking viread for more than 1 year. The latest blood test showed that HBV DNA was below the detection limit. I came to malaysia to work recently and after I came here, I tried to get viread and seems i could not find it anywhere. My doctor recommand that I can take Baraclude, but I am a little worried. I saw in the old post, that people take both, but for my case, by just pure change from one to another, will there be any side effect?
Avatar m tn Many studies say there is no difference in kidney function change between Viread and Entecavir. You have to remember, many studies of Viread come from HIV, where they take many medications at once which all puts a strain on kidneys. My opinion and if I were you, I would take an antiviral due to your increased viral load (above 2,000 iu/ml hbeag negative), Genotype C, mutations which have increased risk of HCC, and family history of HCC.
794091 tn?1264986339 m still doing well T- cells about 800 .Just started new med combo ( Prezista,Truvada,Combivr, Viread ). They make me ill Doc says I will get used to them . Anyone been here ? how long does it take on avarege . It has only been a week .
Avatar m tn we posted so many studies and of course tenofovir is the most potent antiviral for hbv, the only one with 0% resistance on naive patients (no previous use of antivirals) and the only active when resistance to other antivirals is developed.
