Avatar m tn I am a healthy carrier of HBV and have been taking viread for more than 1 year. The latest blood test showed that HBV DNA was below the detection limit. I came to malaysia to work recently and after I came here, I tried to get viread and seems i could not find it anywhere. My doctor recommand that I can take Baraclude, but I am a little worried. I saw in the old post, that people take both, but for my case, by just pure change from one to another, will there be any side effect?
Avatar m tn Yes, Viread is considered to be safe for women during pregnancy. What I like to know is whether it is also okay for men to take Viread when they also want to father a child.

Avatar n tn My doctor suggests that I participate in the drug trial of Tenefovir (Viread) versus Tenofovir in combination with Emtricitibine (Truvada). I have chronic Hepatitis B and Lamivudine resistance last year. He gave me a document to read and I did a bit of research on internet on the side effect. My concern is the side effect especially on Kidney. Could you give me some advice if I should participate in the drug trial or stay with my current medicine Hepsera.
Avatar m tn I think both India generics and the original US FDA approved drug Viread would most likely be the same but you also have to bear in mind that Gilead is the manufacturer that took the drug to US clinical trial and is subject to US's rigorous FDA control. India generics are subject to much less regulation although Cipla is also a reputable drugs manufacturer in India. Gilead's Viread is the only approved TDF drug in the US right now because of its patents so I have to take it here.
Avatar m tn Is switching from Baraclude to Hepsera a valid treatment option, then? Shouldn't Viread have been tried next?

Avatar f tn The ability of each to shut down HBV replication was determined by a parameter called effective concentration (EC), which measures the degree to which viral replication is inhibited for a given concentration of drug. EC50, for example, is the concentration of drug that reduces viral replication by 50%. EC50 values for CMX157 and TAF were 9.3 (range: 5.7 - 12.9) and 32.4 (range: 15.3 - 49.5), respectively.
