Hi, with violent sneezing, the lump could be a haematoma. And this will resolve on its own. If with movement you are getting pain it is likely to be an inflammation of the skin, subcutaneous tissue or the bone. This can happen with injury, repetitive activity or an infection of the skin. Sometimes it can be costochondritis, inflammation of the sternal rib junction. If the pain persists consult your doctor. In the meantime you can take OTC Ibuprofen pain medication.

I have this pain on my left lower abdomen whenever I laugh or cough or sneeze or contract my stomach muscles. It's not unbearable pain but it's definitely uncomfortable. What could this be?

I have the same issue. Very bad pain in my chest and arms when I sneeze. No one mentioned it but I would guess everyone on here has very large sneezes. Not those little chirps that you here from some small women. I have had this symptom as long as I remember and I'm 45. I always assumed it was simply the high velocity of my sneezes contracting my large chest and arm muscles very fast. Similar to a muscle cramp.

No problem however within a minute, a slight pain moved from the right hand side of my neck around to my right temple and then a seve headache set in. I am now 51 years of age and apart from the odd hangover, never really suffered from headaches. Since that day in the car two years ago, I frequently have headaches. Certainly each time I sneeze or cough, a headache immediately sets in.

I always have awful pain in my back when coughing or sneezing. It drives me nuts! That's why I do everything in my power to stay clear of colds, etc. With me, it has to do with a herniated lumbar disk. Do you have something like that? If not, I wonder if there's something going on in your lungs. I know sometimes the pain in the lungs can feel like its coming from the back. The sneezing had gotten to the point where it was so violent it caused a lot of pain. The solution is simple and no doctor has ever told me this. I had to figure it out for myself. I hope this helps those people who feel they are cursed with this malady because it can be truly horrible. After even one sneeze i get to feel heaviness in breathing and start getting a pain in my upper back and neck. Also when i get up in the morning there is always a heaviness in breathing and neck pain.

When I feel a sneeze coming on (which is often with this head cold), I have to basically hold my sides and pull my knees up to my chest. If I don't, I'm in extreme agony and sometimes end up in tears.

When I sneeze, my stomach/abdominal muscle goes into a spasm. It's right under my sternum and get very tight just to the right. It's so intense, I have to stand up and arch my back so the spasm will go away. It always seems to occur just after I sneeze or when I'm driving and kind of hunched over.

there is no lump, discharge etc. but the pain gets worse when i sneeze or cough, or lie down. my breast gets stiff with pain, and no gel or pain killer works. even taking deep breath hurts. is it my breast or some bones?

I had the same worries cux i actually had the flu. But u shoukd be ok just remeber to keep hydrated and try to get some rest. The saline sprays might help reduce some of the sneezing! Hope you feel better!

Well, I know it is normal to get a pain when you cough/sneeze because I asked earlier and a lot of people said they had it too...Well, it happened again today when I coughed, soo bad I thought I was about to double over! My question is WHY does this happen...is it 'round ligament' pain?
