Common Questions and Answers about Vigamox used for

avelox

Avatar f tn I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac? I had asked the nurse for more samples, but she refused saying they wouldn't have enough for the other patients. Thanks!
Avatar n tn The one tube has lasted a couple of months and looks to be good for a couple more. If used twice a day I suppose it would last only a month or so. The vet said this is not a cure, our dog will need this the rest of his life. Hope I can get by on the lower does level I've been using, so far so good.
Avatar f tn The pain backed off somewhat until one month later, when I used Vigamox for one day for an eye infection, when the pain recurred with fury about two hours after using the drops .. My tendinitis is concentrated in the supraspinatus and the long head of the biceps tendon, and now, almost ten months after the original whatever-it-was, I still must use light weights at the gym for curls, bench press, and flyes--and cannot do these exercises on successive days.
Avatar f tn I am no Dr. but I believe in 3 years the Vigamox might lose it's effectiveness. If it were me, this is one area I wouldn't cut back on because Vigamox is CRITICAL for your eye health after eye procedures. You don't want to kick yourself if your eye heals with complications. I too am always tring to save money where I can, but I would do without a new pair of shoes, jeans, or something else instead...just my two cents.
Avatar n tn Acular helps inflammation, but may slow healing so should be used with caution. Vigamox should only be used as long as it is needed. I suspect you are just in the initial stages of treatment and things will be modified carefully every week or so. That is the way I usually do it. I'm sorry, it appears you have a significant area of damage to the cornea. Make sure you are seeing a well qualified board-certified ophthalmologist and follow the instructions properly.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm being treated for "bacterial Keratitis" on the left eye. I've had the infection for about two weeks. I waited a long time to see a doctor because I don't have insurance and I thought it was pinkey and would heal on it's own. I was wrong. I finally went at cost of $140. I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam.
Avatar m tn hy, 2 weeks ago i had cxl treatment for keratoconus. my doctor prescribed me to use vigamox and tobradax 4 times a day for 5 days and after flu she prescribed me to take these drops for 1 week.
Avatar f tn It happen on friday at 2am when I removed my contact lense the left one went fine but the right eye burned and my eye started to tears. I had my lenses for 18h that day and my eyes were dry since I went to see a music show and a lot of people were smoking. I didn't find the lense, so I though the sensation was from the contact being lost in the back of my eyes. I added eye drop and it burned...I went to bed and the next day still painfull, eye sensitive to light.
Avatar m tn I used to wear contacts every day for about eight to ten hours a day and then I'd take them out at night. I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop.
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?
Avatar m tn I have a bad case of Blepharitis and my optician has prescribed Vigamox to be used for 7 days on my eye lids. I am on the 4th day and I don't see a whole lot of change in my eyelids. Is there something better than this? I also go to an Opthamoligist and he prescribed a salve, which also didn't work. I am putting hot compresses on everynight with a lid scrub (also not working.) I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.
Avatar n tn i have shown my condition to 3 doctyors and have taken different eye drops begining with VIGAMOX and more recently ZEDATIN and FML forte. my left eye appears smaller than the right eye, it is very red in the lower part of the eye as well as in the sides. these symptoms are present in the left eye as well but are not as severe. i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar m tn I followed up the next day and they said it looked like everything was getting better and they gave me some anti-swelling and sauve for at night. Everything got better for me and I went off the drops like the doctor told me to. Now one week after stopping the drops the eye is blurring up again. I was told I had a ulcer on my cornea but researching seems to show that that involves pain, which I have not had.
1415174 tn?1453243103 He gave me Vigamox drops every two hours and Bacitracin ointment for night time. I am having a lot of side effects from the Vigamox (irritation, watery eye, itcy, pain etc. and very red eye). But that is not the biggest problem. I tried the Bacitracin for two nights. Last night I up and saw that my eye was very swollen.
Avatar m tn He has Medicare and pays out of pocket for medications. The ophthalmologist prescribed Xibrom (cost $200 for 5 ml), Vigamox (almost $100) for him to take for 3 days prior to surgery and a steroid was added to them for post op. I'm a licensed prescriber myself and I know that there are generics which are much less expensive. However, I'm not an ophthalmologist. I wonder if the name brand medications are truly necessary.
Avatar m tn Could the blue top bottle drops be for swelling? My eyeball was very tender and sore for a couple weeks after surgery. I took my doctors advice. Just wondering what my friend may have heard.
Avatar m tn I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye. Most of the time i go to bed and it still there. When the white discharge remains in my eye for too long it gets hard and crust and sticks to my skin this hearts really bad.
Avatar f tn Good morning, My 5 year old son's eye swelled up so large last week, it looked like a huge walnut was lodged into his eye. In addition to the swelling, he has slight redness and a rather pronounced bump on his eye. The bump is the same color as his eyeball, there is no redness to the bump (it looks like a pimple). He is acting normal- active, great appetite and has not been scratching his eye, either. As a matter of fact, he says he feels "fine".
Avatar f tn I went to see a fam md and he gave me vigamox eye drops is that med good, my eye lid is still swollen, the doctor said it was a stye. what do you know about this medicine. thanks.
Avatar m tn 2%w/v sterile eye drop ) and suggest me to consult another doctor for dystrophy. I went to another doctor and he said there is 99% chance of corneal dystrophy and 1% chance of viral of due to heredity by which these white spots are there is your cornea & if it not affect you eyesight it is ok ..we don't have any problem with it. I told him that I am suffering from Photo phobia and it is very hard for me to roam around in a Sunny day ..
Avatar f tn after we submit his eyes for corneal scrapping, the doctor says it is a fungal infection of the cornea. the doctor gave Vigamox(from every 3 hours, now 3 times a day), amphothericin(from every hour to every 2 hours), nizoral(every hour 24 hours a day). That's really hard taking such eyedrops, As of now, he doing his check up (from every other day, now its everday already). I want to know how long will i take to cure that infection.
