Common Questions and Answers about Vigamox pediatric dosage

Avatar f tn I am in the middle of having cataract surgery (one eye is done and the other will be done tomorrow). The doctor gave me small samples of Nevanac & Vigamox to use before and after the surgeries. He also gave me a prescription for both. In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac?
Avatar m tn hy, 2 weeks ago i had cxl treatment for keratoconus. my doctor prescribed me to use vigamox and tobradax 4 times a day for 5 days and after flu she prescribed me to take these drops for 1 week.
Avatar f tn I went to see my optometrist she prescribed an antibiotic VIGAMOX. I put since last saturday 4 drop a day. I went to see her last Monday. No improvement for the dot but my eyes fell better than saturday. I went back yesterday, no improvement so she send me to the eye doctor specialist. She told me to take Vigamox every 2h instead of 4. When I read the trial on Vigamox the patient took the drug 3x a day and see efficacy after 4-5days. For me it had been 5 now 6 days.
Avatar f tn Good morning, My 5 year old son's eye swelled up so large last week, it looked like a huge walnut was lodged into his eye. In addition to the swelling, he has slight redness and a rather pronounced bump on his eye. The bump is the same color as his eyeball, there is no redness to the bump (it looks like a pimple). He is acting normal- active, great appetite and has not been scratching his eye, either. As a matter of fact, he says he feels "fine".
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?

Avatar n tn 4) and TSH=0.783 (0.3-4.0), accordingly the pediatric endocrinologist of the hospital suggested reduction in terms of giving the dosage 5/7 days a week. Once more we desided to get another opinion. The new pediatric endocrinologist believed there is a high possibility of transient hypothyroidism (not that it matters) and suggested the continuation of dosage at 7/7 days with 25T4 tablets. The last blood test (same molecular lab) after a 2 week period showed the following values fT4= 1.99 (0.6-2.
Avatar f tn doctor says he will check for astigmatism after 40 days. Also she is using vigamox and tobradex... i would like to know what is the usual response for cases like her...and how do the doctors proceed as she cannot tell if she can see or not. Also her eye is as swollen after 8 days of her surgery as it was the next day of her surgery. her doctor says it will take a while to subside. and he will only check for astigmatism after it comes back to its normal shape.
Avatar n tn A child who takes 5 ml of the 250mg/5ml dose, for example, is receiving 250 mg of amoxicillin. The recommended pediatric dosage varies from 25 mg/kg per day to 45 mg/kg per day, depending on the underlying infection, according to Rx List. The suspension should be shaken well and measured with a marked measuring spoon to ensure that the right dose is given. Regular silverware should not be used to measure medication doses, warns Drugs.com.
Avatar n tn I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ). Told me that I had a cut with scar tissue and that it would be a long and painful healing process. I was told not be in the wind or under a fan, always have on sun glasses when outside, and keep light dim while inside. He said it would probably take eight to twelve weeks to heal.
Avatar m tn He told me that I had an infection in my eye due to the fact that I was in a public hottub (hotel) with my contacts in. He gave me vigamox. I followed up the next day and they said it looked like everything was getting better and they gave me some anti-swelling and sauve for at night. Everything got better for me and I went off the drops like the doctor told me to. Now one week after stopping the drops the eye is blurring up again.
Avatar m tn My ophthalmologist prescribed Vigamox and Nevenac 4 times per day beginning 2 days before the surgery, Being a antibiotic, I hope the Vigamox helps with the bacteria count as well.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, my corneal specialist (opthamologist) said I have a marginal corneal ulcer bacterial in nature and was thought be caused by rosacea. He gave me Vigamox drops every two hours and Bacitracin ointment for night time. I am having a lot of side effects from the Vigamox (irritation, watery eye, itcy, pain etc. and very red eye). But that is not the biggest problem. I tried the Bacitracin for two nights. Last night I up and saw that my eye was very swollen.
Avatar f tn thank-you!
Avatar m tn The next day we took her to see an eye MD who initially though it was due to bacterial infection and gave us antibiotics. On 12/7 the infection seems to be worse, and she gave us stronger anibiotics (Vigamox). The next day (12/8) things seemed to be under controlled, but on 12/9 morning new lesion was seen. She told us that it might be amoeba infection, although she has never seen amoeba infection that progress so rapidly.
1428481 tn?1340593131 I have the eye drops (Vigamox) on hand and was wandering if I could use them on my son. I have heard a lot about pink eye but never in infants so I'm not sure how to treat an infant with Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis). He has green mucus basically gluing his right eye together. I have had to wipe it clean multiple times with a wet cloth. The white of his eye is not red but I have heard of people having pink eye without it actually being red.
Avatar m tn I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye. Most of the time i go to bed and it still there. When the white discharge remains in my eye for too long it gets hard and crust and sticks to my skin this hearts really bad.

Avatar m tn Those are safe for him at 1/2 human adult dose. Simethicone (the active ingredient in gas-x) also comes in a pediatric form. If you get the pediatric form dose to effect. Hiccups are due to spasms of the diaphragm, however and getting rid of gas may not be effective, but it is worth a try.

Avatar n tn We are in NC and fortunately have been referred to a great pediatric Endo at Duke. I have seen mention of Pediatric Endo at Texas Childrens Hospital (not sure how far that is for you). We will be starting medication as soon as our local pharmacy can get it in. I hope she responds well. I have been looking into the possibility of Thyroidectomy or Radioiodine Treatment if indicated.
