Avatar n tn I know the spirit of your post was to get information - mine is just general, but does apply. The only good solution is to get a treatment from a veterinarian - cost, but maybe no more than a dinner out.

Avatar f tn I am in the middle of having cataract surgery (one eye is done and the other will be done tomorrow). The doctor gave me small samples of Nevanac & Vigamox to use before and after the surgeries. He also gave me a prescription for both. In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac?
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 3 different eye drops to take 4 times a day, VIGAMOX, LOTEMAX, AND ISOPTO HYOSCINE along with a cream ERYTHROMYCIN OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT USP. The second day of taking these eye drops I began having a severe itching in my eye and also a rash on my chest. I took benedryl to help with the itching and rash. The doctor said that it was ok to take this. After 2 days the itch stopped and I stopped the benadryl. In the past I have had adverse reactions to steroids.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm being treated for "bacterial Keratitis" on the left eye. I've had the infection for about two weeks. I waited a long time to see a doctor because I don't have insurance and I thought it was pinkey and would heal on it's own. I was wrong. I finally went at cost of $140. I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam.

Avatar m tn I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop. It seemed to be working at first, but after a few weeks of the new drop it made my eye pressure skyrocket.
630166 tn?1222287376 I had Lasik sugery about 4 years ago and had dry eye for a couple of years, but then that improved with the help of using Restasis. About a week ago I woke up with redness and mat in my left eye. My first thought was I had the pink eye. I went to my doctor and he gave me Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution. That didn't help, so then he gave me Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Solution.

No improvement for the dot but my eyes fell better than saturday. I went back yesterday, no improvement so she send me to the eye doctor specialist. She told me to take Vigamox every 2h instead of 4. When I read the trial on Vigamox the patient took the drug 3x a day and see efficacy after 4-5days. For me it had been 5 now 6 days.
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?

Avatar m tn He has Medicare and pays out of pocket for medications. The ophthalmologist prescribed Xibrom (cost $200 for 5 ml), Vigamox (almost $100) for him to take for 3 days prior to surgery and a steroid was added to them for post op. I'm a licensed prescriber myself and I know that there are generics which are much less expensive. However, I'm not an ophthalmologist. I wonder if the name brand medications are truly necessary.
Avatar f tn WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) It may sound like a James Bond gadget, but the FDA has just approved a miniature telescope - smaller than a pea - that can help with a leading cause of blindness for seniors when implanted inside the eye. How does it work? Surgeons put the Implantable Miniature Telescope in one eye, allowing the person to improve central vision for tasks like reading, watching TV and recognizing faces. Doctors leave the other eye alone to provide peripheral vision. http://www.cbsnews.
Avatar n tn You could try as wet warm compress on your eye or try rinsing with saline solution, the cold could have gone into your eye..
