Vigamox for styes

Common Questions and Answers about Vigamox for styes

Avatar f tn I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac? I had asked the nurse for more samples, but she refused saying they wouldn't have enough for the other patients. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I am no Dr. but I believe in 3 years the Vigamox might lose it's effectiveness. If it were me, this is one area I wouldn't cut back on because Vigamox is CRITICAL for your eye health after eye procedures. You don't want to kick yourself if your eye heals with complications. I too am always tring to save money where I can, but I would do without a new pair of shoes, jeans, or something else instead...just my two cents.
Avatar n tn Sounds like you have inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis). Using steroidal anti-inflammatories helps, when you stop the styes return. Ways to control: hot compresses twice daily and omegas. Also, oral antibiotics may help, doxycycline or azithromycin. Best Wishes, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.
Avatar m tn hy, 2 weeks ago i had cxl treatment for keratoconus. my doctor prescribed me to use vigamox and tobradax 4 times a day for 5 days and after flu she prescribed me to take these drops for 1 week.
Avatar f tn It happen on friday at 2am when I removed my contact lense the left one went fine but the right eye burned and my eye started to tears. I had my lenses for 18h that day and my eyes were dry since I went to see a music show and a lot of people were smoking. I didn't find the lense, so I though the sensation was from the contact being lost in the back of my eyes. I added eye drop and it burned...I went to bed and the next day still painfull, eye sensitive to light.
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?
Avatar f tn I've developed sties in both eyes about 5 months ago. My the "head" of the left eye still is swollen and red from the stye, though it doesn't really hurt anymore. As for my right eye, when it was infected again 5 months ago, it looked as if it was hit by 3 styes in a row, with white heads all over the lower lid. When the infection resolved, it gave way to a pimple near my lower lashes that would produce pus from time to time.

Avatar f tn Hey! I have had styes my entire life but this one is worse than any others. It started out as a swollen eyelid, then the stye formed. I have had migraines daily because of it and struggle with everyday activities such as homework. Not only have I had this stye for 6 MONTHS!!! But it gets worse everyday! Every doctor I see says “hot compresses and eye ointment will get rid of it in a few days” I’ve tried both and much more for six months.
Avatar n tn I get styes after I don't take off my makeup at times. Can the infection live in your makeup? I get styes monthly. It feels like there is a weight on my eyelid.
Avatar n tn Hi, about 2 months ago, I noticed a small flesh colored "pimple" like bump on the outside of my lower eyelid, at least an inch down from my eye. I replaced my mascara and that cleared up the bump. After a few weeks, I developed three more of the same "pimple" like bumps, 2 around the same area on my lower eyelid, and one on my upper eyelid. Again on the outside of the lid, not underneath.
Avatar n tn My 4 year old had a chalazion on his left lower lid for almost 4 months took him to ophthalmologist and he did the surgery to remove it about 2 weeks ago, sent him home with the normal eye ointment to do for 7 days 3 times a day. No today his lower lid is still slightly swollen and the chalazion is still very much visible, is this normal or is there something else I should do?
Avatar n tn My left eye was bothering me for about two weeks, off and on. I thought I had a simple eye infection and used previously Rx'd drops to self treat it ( I know, I know ), then it became very apparent when I could not focus my eyes while driving that something was wrong. I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ).
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm being treated for "bacterial Keratitis" on the left eye. I've had the infection for about two weeks. I waited a long time to see a doctor because I don't have insurance and I thought it was pinkey and would heal on it's own. I was wrong. I finally went at cost of $140. I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam.
398920 tn?1218779347 My brother-in-law has had styes (multiple) in both eyes. This has been going on for at least a year. No antibiotics have helped, even with eye drops ( by prescription ). They are very painful. He is afraid he will loose his sight. Can anyone help or advise me for him?
Avatar m tn I used to wear contacts every day for about eight to ten hours a day and then I'd take them out at night. I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop.
Avatar n tn mrs, Is this white spot raised? Does it look like a pimple? If so, it could be a stye. A stye is an infection (pimple-like) that can occur on the inside and outside of the eyelid. I've had two seperate styes before (at different times) that lasted a few days each. I don't think styes last for years though... The best way to rid a stye is to wash your hands a lot before touching your face and putting warm (not hot!) compresses on your infected eyelid.
Avatar n tn i have shown my condition to 3 doctyors and have taken different eye drops begining with VIGAMOX and more recently ZEDATIN and FML forte. my left eye appears smaller than the right eye, it is very red in the lower part of the eye as well as in the sides. these symptoms are present in the left eye as well but are not as severe. i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar m tn I followed up the next day and they said it looked like everything was getting better and they gave me some anti-swelling and sauve for at night. Everything got better for me and I went off the drops like the doctor told me to. Now one week after stopping the drops the eye is blurring up again. I was told I had a ulcer on my cornea but researching seems to show that that involves pain, which I have not had.
Avatar n tn Yes, I've had my stye for 6 months now, I've beed trying to get rid of it. I went to an eye doctor, he said it was a "pimple"... that sounds like BS to me. He also prescribed me TobraDex Stye Ointment, but I've seen NO results out of it. I also tried the warm compress, but my stye is too old and solid to react to it.
