Common Questions and Answers about Vigamox for lasik

Avatar f tn I have a LASIK procedure scheduled in a week. My optometrist wrote me a prescription for Vigamox. I actually have an Unopened bottle but realized the expiration date on the box is 12/2009. I was hoping to save the $100 and use the unopened bottle but do not know if that is such a wise idea. Are expired eye drops safe?
Avatar f tn I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac? I had asked the nurse for more samples, but she refused saying they wouldn't have enough for the other patients. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have a center cornea scar and it really affects my vision. I had this after LASIK. I had DLK after LASIK a month ago. Now the DLK is healed but it left a scar on my right eye. My doctor says it is very thin but since it is in the center of my cornea, it greatly affects my vision-my work, my everyday life. We must not lose hope. This can clear-up overtime. I am currently taking predforte, maxitrol, duotrav and vigamox. With these meds, I also pray:) Miracles do happen everyday!
Avatar m tn My regular eye Doctor refered me to the corneal specialist who did lasik on me 12 year ago. He said I had a coreal ulcer in that eye. He gave me Vigamox to use every hour until the next day when I saw the corneal dr. Overnight it totally went away, and the specialist felt it was healed. 1 week later the same thing happened in my left eye.
Avatar m tn hy, 2 weeks ago i had cxl treatment for keratoconus. my doctor prescribed me to use vigamox and tobradax 4 times a day for 5 days and after flu she prescribed me to take these drops for 1 week.
Avatar f tn It happen on friday at 2am when I removed my contact lense the left one went fine but the right eye burned and my eye started to tears. I had my lenses for 18h that day and my eyes were dry since I went to see a music show and a lot of people were smoking. I didn't find the lense, so I though the sensation was from the contact being lost in the back of my eyes. I added eye drop and it burned...I went to bed and the next day still painfull, eye sensitive to light.
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?

Avatar m tn I want to know how many time one person can do Lasik? If someone do Lasik for Myopia correction can he/she do Lasik for Hyperopia or Cataract later in his/her life? What is the side effects of Lasik?
Avatar n tn As mentioned before I was declared by the clinic a suitable candidate for LASIK after being tested for 6 hours (I arrived at 9 and left at 3pm). What do you think? I agree with one of the emails when it says "you get what you pay for". Hope to hear from you soon. I still have time to change my mind.
Avatar m tn they insisted for lasik and said lasik was almost 100% risk free.i had done lasik and post 2 months i got floaters.thus lasik made permenant damage to eye.now lasik docs says nothing can be done for floaters.i made a huge mistake of doing lasik because lasik was just a cosmetic surgery and there is no medical urgency to do a lasik. does lasik surgeons dont learn medical ethics in their eye school or only wanted to make money.my lasik docs says floaters are harmless and such like things.
Avatar n tn My left eye was bothering me for about two weeks, off and on. I thought I had a simple eye infection and used previously Rx'd drops to self treat it ( I know, I know ), then it became very apparent when I could not focus my eyes while driving that something was wrong. I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ).
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm being treated for "bacterial Keratitis" on the left eye. I've had the infection for about two weeks. I waited a long time to see a doctor because I don't have insurance and I thought it was pinkey and would heal on it's own. I was wrong. I finally went at cost of $140. I was diagnosed and given vigamox (4 x day) and Tobradex. The doctor insisted I come back the next day to check my pupil after dilated. So, I paid another $140 for that exam.
Avatar m tn I used to wear contacts every day for about eight to ten hours a day and then I'd take them out at night. I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop.
Avatar n tn i have shown my condition to 3 doctyors and have taken different eye drops begining with VIGAMOX and more recently ZEDATIN and FML forte. my left eye appears smaller than the right eye, it is very red in the lower part of the eye as well as in the sides. these symptoms are present in the left eye as well but are not as severe. i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar m tn I followed up the next day and they said it looked like everything was getting better and they gave me some anti-swelling and sauve for at night. Everything got better for me and I went off the drops like the doctor told me to. Now one week after stopping the drops the eye is blurring up again. I was told I had a ulcer on my cornea but researching seems to show that that involves pain, which I have not had.
Avatar m tn Dr Oyakawa, I 've been to the web pages of many LASIK clinics and they offer service of LASIK correction for presbyopia. A few of them claimed offering an advance service called "Blended mono-vision". The most attractive thing is that this Lasik claims be able to increase the depth of focus of each eye but didn't mention how. As I am going to do a cataract surgery on my RD eye and very likely to implant a monofocal IOL.
Avatar m tn They all claim to have the best technology, the best doctor etc. I want to know what i should look for in a LASIK doctor ? My vision is 9 and i have astigmatism. Does that change anything for what i should look for in a doctor's experience ?
1415174 tn?1453243103 He gave me Vigamox drops every two hours and Bacitracin ointment for night time. I am having a lot of side effects from the Vigamox (irritation, watery eye, itcy, pain etc. and very red eye). But that is not the biggest problem. I tried the Bacitracin for two nights. Last night I up and saw that my eye was very swollen.
Avatar m tn Could the blue top bottle drops be for swelling? My eyeball was very tender and sore for a couple weeks after surgery. I took my doctors advice. Just wondering what my friend may have heard.
Avatar f tn Further to 2 lots of lasik treatment. I have very severe indoor and night vision problems. I am told that I have severe HOA's - all three types. I think 62%. I have been offered more guided wavefront treatment to "try" to smooth these out. Should I risk it - I am naturally nervous.I need to do something.
Avatar m tn Cost for a RLE is about the same as LASIK now and premium IOL in the future. Also, cataract surgery after LASIK is more difficult to hit target due to the alteration to the cornea. Get a RLE with Crystalens or Trulign (the toric version of Crystalens). Dr. O.
