Vigamox dosage in children

Common Questions and Answers about Vigamox dosage in children

avelox

1428481 tn?1340593131 He had it for the first time under a year, and yes it is very common in infants and young children. As the others suggested, I would not use the medication until you have had a proper diagnosis. Although it certainly sounds like pink eye, other infections or issues are possible, and drops not intended for your child could do more harm then good. All the best.
Avatar f tn I am no Dr. but I believe in 3 years the Vigamox might lose it's effectiveness. If it were me, this is one area I wouldn't cut back on because Vigamox is CRITICAL for your eye health after eye procedures. You don't want to kick yourself if your eye heals with complications. I too am always tring to save money where I can, but I would do without a new pair of shoes, jeans, or something else instead...just my two cents.
Avatar f tn I am in the middle of having cataract surgery (one eye is done and the other will be done tomorrow). The doctor gave me small samples of Nevanac & Vigamox to use before and after the surgeries. He also gave me a prescription for both. In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac?
Avatar m tn He told me that I had an infection in my eye due to the fact that I was in a public hottub (hotel) with my contacts in. He gave me vigamox. I followed up the next day and they said it looked like everything was getting better and they gave me some anti-swelling and sauve for at night. Everything got better for me and I went off the drops like the doctor told me to. Now one week after stopping the drops the eye is blurring up again.
Avatar m tn Often after I rise in the morning my eyes burn and water. Wiping them with a tissue does a good job of relieving the discomfort, and I'm generally good for the rest of the day. My concern is that I'm going to have cataract surgery this coming Wednesday, and I know that rubbing the eyes afterward is a bad idea. I'm hoping for suggestions as to how best to relieve the discomfort and not compromise the incisions by rubbing my eyes.
Avatar m tn hy, 2 weeks ago i had cxl treatment for keratoconus. my doctor prescribed me to use vigamox and tobradax 4 times a day for 5 days and after flu she prescribed me to take these drops for 1 week.
Avatar f tn If it is the usual types of bacteria, it should respond to the Vigamox but it must be watched often and possibly cultured in case it is a bacteria resistant to Vigamox. Also, you must be very careful to follow all the directions you have been given regarding your contact lens care. Often a lapse in this care starts these problems. Also, once a patient gets one of these, I never allow them to wear lenses on an extended overnight basis.
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?
Avatar f tn If you are feeling very, very bold, you might try risking a number of months of personal well-being by instilling adrop of Vigamox in your eye and watching for a reaction about two to three hours later. Truthfully, I feel shy about asking my eye doctor to report this--though I will do so--since he has clearly either forgotten or not noticed my request to avoid fluoroquinolones.
Avatar n tn I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ). Told me that I had a cut with scar tissue and that it would be a long and painful healing process. I was told not be in the wind or under a fan, always have on sun glasses when outside, and keep light dim while inside. He said it would probably take eight to twelve weeks to heal.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Hi, my corneal specialist (opthamologist) said I have a marginal corneal ulcer bacterial in nature and was thought be caused by rosacea. He gave me Vigamox drops every two hours and Bacitracin ointment for night time. I am having a lot of side effects from the Vigamox (irritation, watery eye, itcy, pain etc. and very red eye). But that is not the biggest problem. I tried the Bacitracin for two nights. Last night I up and saw that my eye was very swollen.
Avatar m tn My daughter (13 yrs old) started feeling pain in her right eye on 12/5 (Sunday). The next day we took her to see an eye MD who initially though it was due to bacterial infection and gave us antibiotics. On 12/7 the infection seems to be worse, and she gave us stronger anibiotics (Vigamox). The next day (12/8) things seemed to be under controlled, but on 12/9 morning new lesion was seen.
Avatar n tn The reason is that in a small amount of cases it has caused swelling of the brain. If you look at the label on cough syrup for children, even those typically recommend for age 6 and up (at least the brands I have seen.) When my 2 1/2 year old has a cold with a cough I give him milk slightly warmed with honey in it. I have also given him a teaspoon of honey on it's own. It works extremely well.
Avatar f tn thank-you!
Avatar f tn He told me to use it for a week and see him again in a week. The redness went away and the bump went down just a little. When I went to see him he got a swab and went over the bumb attempting to flatten it out. My eye went red again. He told me to use vigamox for a day then return to the Zylet for another week. It's been a few weeks now and I can still see the bump since it hasn't gone away. The doctor says I should go see a USC doctor.

454366 tn?1211245301 Please read the info on www.jonbarron.org on Bi-Polar disorder in children. The info is kinda scary; but I think you might help with finding other avenues to take. Peace be with you and keep the faith. Our kids are our future. Let's not just dope them up because we are told to. Let's not dope ourselves up either.

Avatar m tn I have a bad case of Blepharitis and my optician has prescribed Vigamox to be used for 7 days on my eye lids. I am on the 4th day and I don't see a whole lot of change in my eyelids. Is there something better than this? I also go to an Opthamoligist and he prescribed a salve, which also didn't work. I am putting hot compresses on everynight with a lid scrub (also not working.) I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.
Avatar m tn I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop. It seemed to be working at first, but after a few weeks of the new drop it made my eye pressure skyrocket.
