Tramadol is not even a narcotic or opiate. Its not similar to vicodin either. Tylenol 3 is a very weak opiate. It acts like most pain killers. It blocks out the opiade receptors in your brain that make you feel pain.

Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.

I've had chronic SEVERE migraine for the last 10 years. Up until 2001, I had taken Tylenol 3's- then I was in a car accident and suffered a closed head injury. I thought they were bad before! My Neuro says that I am in top 2% of migraine suuferers world wide, in that I now have a migraine every day, with dibilitating pain one or two times per week, and am NOT responsive to preventatives.

So i posted couple days ago bout my severe migrains i finally went to my first prenatal appt foundout i was 10 weeks not 12. He presc me tylenol 3 which has codeine in it he said its safe but im kinda scared to take it :( will somebody let me know if its safe??

Vicodin is a higher pain killer than tramadol. Tramadol to me is no different to tylenol, then i have some friends that are addicted to it. I am coming off of vicodin and i dont sugest anyone take it for any periods of time. I dont know your story but if possible i would stray from vicodin. LIke i said i have used them both and vicodin gave the the pain relief and the "high" i was looking for tramadol didnt even touch the pain.

I am wondering if there is something besides Tylenol 3 that I can ask for to be prescribed as I have some liver issues and everytime I get a migraine or other aches and pains that are too much for over the counter, I get prescribed T3's, but I am concerned they are making my liver worse. I have fatty liver disease, and I don't drink, and I don't really eat fatty foods (the two most common causes of FLD). I just need something as strong as T3's, but not as hard on liver?

@newoutlook12 Tylenol 3 and vicodin are not the same thing. Tylenol 3 is acetaminophen and codeine and vicodin is hydrocodone and acetaminophen. @chelecameron I have taken vicodin before during pregnancy be Dr said short term was fine, it's long term that has the higher risks, but still not fully proven if it causes any problems with the baby.

I suffer from severe migraines and I am 16 weeks pregnant, I take 2 tylenol 3 (tylenol with codiene) in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, they help, might want to check with your dr as they are a narcotic

the only difference is that Norco has less acetaminophen than Vicodin (325mg vs 500 in Vicodin). Also, the Vicodin your mom has contains less hydrocodone than the Norco you are prescribed, and the half-life of hydrocodone is a maximum of 6 hours which means the levels of the extra Norco you took should be out of your system by the time you have your urine test, so I wouldn't worry this time about being "caught" taking extra pills this time. Yeah, that's a good point. I was kings rationalizing with, half a vic would maybe better better then 3 tylenol.

Can you please help me out with my addiction such as sharing your tips, stories and so on.I just joined this site and don't know where to begin.I get T3's prescribed 3 per day, 20 every 7 days (wed-wed) but I also get them on the side from someone I lie to.I want to stop, I dont even know how long its been.It just grew out of control and i had enough but cant beat the withdrawl and i am scared cuz I also dont want help from Doctors.

The lowest amount of tylenol that I know of that comes with hydrocodone would be in Norco tablets. They contain 10mg of the hydrocodone and only 325mg of tylenol. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching you to oxycodone instead? Oxycodone comes in tablet form that's just pure oxycodone, it has no tylenol or acetaminophen in it at all. It's stronger than hydrocodone, too, so the 5mg tablet (the smallest one they make) might even work as well for you as the 7.5mg vicodin.

I have been secretly taking tylenol 3 and vicodin unprescribed to me for a little over 2 years now.. before i became pregnant I was taking about 3 at a time maybe twice or more a day...When i found out I was pregnant in Januarry 2012 I stopped with the vics and I cut back on the tylenol to 2 a day, i take 1 every 5 hours. Norco is better than most because it only has 325 of Tylenol Vs. 500 or 650. To my knowledge hydrocodone which is the narcotic agent in Norco (I take it too) does not come in a tablet all on it's own. In order to get rid of the Tylenol you have to move up to the drug oxycodone which is in drugs like Percocet they make oxycodone tabs without Tylenol. Question is why are you so worried about your liver? Is your liver already compromised?

Tylenol 3 contains 30mg of codeine phosphate and 300mg of acetaminophen. The Canadian version also contains 15mg caffeine which is not present in the American version. Both Canadian and American versions also have traces of sulfites. In its generic form, Tylenol 3 has acetaminophen hydrocodone which is a imitation of codeine.

I am strongly against the use of acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) as part of the treatment of long term chronic pain. Vicodin, Percocet, Tylenol #3, Tylenol #4 are OK for short term acute pain from surgeries etc. but using them long term everyday as a regimen for treatment of chronic pain is very damaging to the liver. Opioids alone DO NOT damage internal organs. They are one of the safest medicines out there for pain.

I would try tylenol first. But vicodin is safe to take during pregnancy. Some obgyns actually give it to patients in a lot of pain.

OK, I'm back at Step 3 but I decided to do the implant thing. So the first part was to remove the tooth and add a bone graft to replace bone that came out when the tooth was removed. That hurt, and hurt and hurt for almost a month. It was swollen, painful to touch, my face and area under the jaw bone was visibly swollen, headache and earache. I was on more pain killers than ever in my life (I have had babies, back pain and prior surgeries).

yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...

I have went through withdraws for two days before I gave in. I take 3 every 3 to 4 hrs a day. Please let me know what to do. If nothing works, I will call a dr and take the steps I need to take.

Helloi Peekawho, I live in Alberta Canada. The medication you're referring to is commonly called Tylenol 1 here, or a generic Tylenol 1 is also available. My understanding of the dose is that it's about 1/3 the strength of Tylenol 3. It can be bought over the counter here in Alberta, although ALL pharmacies do keep track of who buys it, what quantity & how often, and share the information with each other. In BC & the Yukon it's sold OTC with no records kept.
