Vicodin vs tylenol 3

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin vs tylenol 3

vicodin

Can anyone tell me the difference between tylenol 3 and hydrocodone, I understand the hydrocodone is a synthetic of codeine, but as far a strength of tylenol 3 vs one 5mg vicodin? What is the addiction factor, what is worse codeine or hydrocodone? Just curious..
I have been sober for about a week and a half now, im 34 weeks pregnant. I was not a heavy abuser, but I have taken Vicodin-Percocet-Tylenol 3 throughout the pregnancy for migraines and ovarian cysts. It was helpful to read your concerns, I took the medicine sometimes when I wasn't in any pain, I just took it (like you) to feel more comfortable around people.
Yes the 5/325 is what Im refering to. 5mg of Hydro Vs 5mg of Perc. I would ultimatley like to quit this ugly habbit completely by cutting down daily but the problem is I dont have the supply currently to do so. The percs would be to get me by until I can begin the tappering process.
I've had chronic SEVERE migraine for the last 10 years. Up until 2001, I had taken Tylenol 3's- then I was in a car accident and suffered a closed head injury. I thought they were bad before! My Neuro says that I am in top 2% of migraine suuferers world wide, in that I now have a migraine every day, with dibilitating pain one or two times per week, and am NOT responsive to preventatives.
Hi Bell, I think Tylenol 3 is a level 3 narcotic while Oxydodone is a level 2 narcotic. Meaning the Oxycodone is much stronger. Could be wrong, but someone here will know for sure.
Hi im 23 and have been taking vics for about 3.5 years i have recently came to the realization that im a addict and want to stop taking them i quit once befor and was clean for a while and like the others i let my gaurd down and **** got outa control the last time i quit i was only taking 2-3 (7.5) a day at the most now im taking around 10 a day. what should i do to possibly help me quit or help the side effects from w/d and what am i goin to go through? how long will i feel like crap?
Same concept as Tylenol vs. acetaminophine and Advil vs. ibuprofen. Wishing you well on this new road and so glad you found MH!
You could tell him that the Darvocet makes you sick to your stomach, dizzy and claustrophobic -- all commonly known adverse effects of this drug), which might convince him to give you, a least, some tylenol#3. (He sounds like a tight ass with the drugs -- you have my sympathy). I use a plain form of darvon to stave off withdrawal from my opiate dependence, but, as a pain killer, darvocet's a pretty poor choice.
Glad you're feeling better and good to hear you have the Tylenol 3. I went from percocet to tylenol 3, down to tylenol 2 before I gave birth. My doc said Tylenol 2 and 3 was fine for the baby and 1 -2 a day was a low amount. If you have talked to your doc, then everything will be fine. It's always terrifying when we don't know what to expect, so we hide from the truth. In my opinion, just from the pregnancy standpoint and not discussing any addiction issues, your baby will be fine.
Yes, I guess you could say I'm alittle frustrated. I wrote atleast 3 times that vicodin withdrawal is dangerous but not life threatening. Posts keep coming up in regards to me saying that vic w/d is not life threatening. Okay I think we all get it now. Well I hope...
It gets me just as buzzed as any narcotic drug such as vicodin, tylenol 3/4 with codeine, or darvocet. I know I have an addictive personality so I make it a point to monitor my intake of ultram. Though it is not considered a narcotic, I think anything can be addicting if used in excess. If you take it be careful and use common sense. P.S. I am a chronic back pain and leg pain suffer.
I was taking 4-6 7.5 Lortabs a day, or ES Vicodin and 4-6 350 Somas or is it 3.50, I don't know? I am now taking 3/4 of (1) 7.5 Lortab each night, and 1 of the Somas, and 1mg of Ativan...sometimes 1.25mg of the Ativan I am trying to do a reduction of the Lortab, about 1/8 of the pill each week...that means another 6 weeks just for the Vics I'll see a new Doc Monday, my regular guy, and I hope he has some experience to help..
I don't really think there's much of a difference, based on what I've read. Oxy, hydro, morphine are all full agonist opiates with similar analgesic properties and withdrawals. Now you can probably find big differences between these opiates and others such as fentanyl, methadone, and suboxone.
I take these reconmendations from several hepatologist (liver only specialists) who only reconmend tylenol based products at no more than 2-3 gm per day (4-6 OTC dose). Every doctor varies a bit..but this is what I have come to know as the standard of care (even for the liver transplant crowd) 1. Tylenol at no greater than 2-3 grams per day and never mixed with any alcohol (which is a no-no anyhow). 2. Avoid NSAIDS.
5mg vicoprofen which means it cut with ibuprofen and not tylenol like all the others are cut with tylenol. I've been told it is about 65% less effective regarding pain control. Oxycodone is a longer more uncomfortable taper than hydrocodone, I disagree it depends how long you were on the drug and how high your dose was. If you detox with the perc's you have you won't even feel the oxydodone when you take your last dose, 20 tablets is not enough to catch a habit.
Only by now, I've added Advil, Tylenol and Tramadol to the Vicodin. My diet is liquid. I had blood drawn today by the emergency room doctor for lab tests and I'm having a CT scan of my neck tomorrow. I'm betting this whole thing has been an infection from the first root canal that never cleared up. Now, I'm looking at probably having the implanted post removed and a drain put in to clear the infection. I too, am terribly upset with dentists in general. Thanks for listening!
Just wondering? Percocets seem stronger and Vicodin has never done too much for me?
I don't even think their part of the same family, other than the Tylenol. Anyway, I've been taking mostly the Percocet to save the Lorcet but I also noticed to feel some acheiness & like I was gonna jump outta my skin. Out of curiosity I haven't taken a Lorcet since 3:30 p.m yesterday & around 4:00 today I really started feeling pretty yuck, but instead of taking the Lorcet, I tried the Percocet again instead. I felt ALOT better 30 mins. later.
I'm a mom of 2 and pregnant with #3, but earlier this year I decided to stop a pain management program cold turkey and I had been taking 5mg vicodin 3x a day for months, and pain medicine of different types and dosages pretty regularly before that. I had no abuse issues but like your daughter my body was hooked. I quit the same week that we closed on buying our house and had to move AND fix up the new house with paint and renovation...AND watch my 2-year-old and 9-month old by myself.
3 hrs. of very mild anxiety and about 4 hours of depression then it would ease up and got better. I am working with a medication advice nurse in MHealth and we decided I would try taking the prozac at night to try and sleep thru these side effects. It worked for a couple of nights then Last week I had a set back which put me in a deep depression and my husbands surgery is looming and the Ativan is not working like it did. I wake up after about 4/5 hours.
I can take ordinary codeine (a controlled substance requiring a prescription - such as Tylenol3), but synthetic codeine (Vicodin and others) give me migraine headaches when they wear off. I'm finding this to be true of other synthetic medicines. The female homones that have caused such controversy... the only way the pharmaceutical companies could patent them was by coming up with a molecule that wasn't natural to the human body.
Approximately 150mgs of Tramadol is equal to 60mgs of codeine, which as Im sure youre well aware of codeine is one of the weakest opiates out there given for minor aches and pains usually in the form of Tylenol 3's.
has trouble with pain meds please do not give her any. Husband doesn't want wife to know he called. Dated 1-3-01. I was so furious, hurt and embarassed that I was shaking so bad. I took the note out since they were dumb enough to leave it by me. The dr. comes in and lokks down his nose at me. He checked my heart? made me bend over to check my back and said take tylenol. At this point I didn't want a f%$#&** thing from him. But I said and if the pain gets worse? He said Advil.
I kinda got the same thing when I went from 10mg HCL Oxycodone (no tylenol) to hydrocodone. They made me sick to my stomach and I'm confident that it was the tylenol. Most labels will tell you to take Hydro with food but I never do.... Maybe that's why I got nauseous on them?

Tell him he has to be tough, b/c you will kick and scream and call him names to get that bottle or use persuasion but if he can stand his ground and you know he wont give in, you will let it go and accept the amount you are given.Oh, the first 2 days, I was supplementing with tylenol3 that my dentist had given me, it didnt do much b/c i woulda had to take many at once but couldnt b/c of tylenol od but it helped psychologically, i contemplated doing cold water extraction, but i didnt do it.
There is life with pain, and without medication. I had a traumatic spinal injury 25 years ago, have experienced paralysis 3 times, triple laminectomy/double discetomy L4, L5, L6, with 6 more herniated and ruptured discs from lower back to neck. Sometimes the pain is unbearable, but with faith in not just myself but in God I am making it through every day.
