Vicodin for sinus infection

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin for sinus infection

vicodin

She thought it was a toothache, so after seeing her dentist, getting xrays, she ruled out any tooth issues (except possibly a root canal gone bad) and said possibly a sinus infection to which she prescribed pennicillin. Last night my daughter awoke in tremendous agony and her regular doctor appt. isn't until this afternoon to check for a sinus infection. Also dentist referred me to an oral surgeon, just in case, to check her root canal that was done 3 yrs. ago.
Seemed to think problem was other than tooth-- possible ear infection or sinus infection. He gave me two perscriptions. I then went to see my primary care Dr. who examined upper respiratory system. He seems to think I have a sinus infection but said it could also be start of shingles. He converted my dentist's perscriptions to vicodin, azithromycin, & MucinexD. Still much pain 12 hrs. later. Hope this stuff works. Your comments?
but did for the first time since about 7 weeks ago ... next day came down with the worst cold virus / sinus infection for over a decade. ... OK so I put this down to bad luck / timing. anyway hung out with the same group of friends again on Sunday and just had a small line. Guess what ... I have a really bad sinus infection / cold again ...left side of my nose is tweaked ... swollen and running clear mucus from my left nostril. this is the side I snorted in. I FEEL AWFUL !
to complain about being congested and went back about 3 weeks ago for ear pain which turned out to be a sinus infection. Ear pain is still here, no ear infection. Now I can't get to sleep easily at night because my face hurts.
ordered CT scan for next week to see if there is still some type of sinus infection. I still continue to have sinus pain on right side, especially around jaw and can feel pain in my top teeth. I also discharge a LOT of rubbery, thick mucous from the right side of my nose since the surgery...I never had anything close to this consistency before the surgery. Is is possible that I have had some kind of complication from this surgery that would be causing all of these frequent infections?
I just took my last half this morning, so I am bracing myself. Unfortunately I have a sinus infection right now as well, this should be fun. Where are you at in your withdrawal process? Do you have a plan for treating pain or do you not have pain anymore? My pain can be pretty intense so I am scared on that front as well. I have to be able to function.
I have had sinus infections before but never painful like this. Is this normal for a sinus infection? Should I be doing anything else? How long does it take for the pain to go away??
well i have a barb addiction instead of opiates so the withdrawals weren't really bad i don't think. i say i don't think because when i stopped them cold turkey i was also getting a sinus infection so it was hard to tell what was the sinus problem and what were the withdrawals. I am one that cannot wean myself. Tried it and can't do it as long as I have the pills in the house. I even gave them to my husband to hold and then searched the entire house for them.
I would get about two sinus infections a year (although they could have been colds) and using a sinus rinse and if extremely persistent a short round of antibiotics would clear it up within a few days. I got a blood allergy test already a few years ago and everything came back negative. Well starting late May I developed a headache right between my eyes that spread to the back of my neck and across my forehead.
i have had trouble my entire pregnancy with headaches, ive never had migranes before, but i began to have headaches so bad i could hardly function, my doctor said most likely i suffer from chronic sinusitus, which is basically an ongoing sinus infection he perscribed psuedoeffedrine, and its worked wonders, i still get headaches from time to time, but i chalk them up to being 34 weeks pregnant and having a wild 19 month old to chase around, i was totally unaware of the infection, meaning i wa
I had a sinus infection on top of withdrawl so hard for me to tell what part was withdrawl and what part was being sick. I just did not try to eat solids because I was really so full of powerade I felt no hunger. I used a heating pad and wrapped up in a huge fleece blanket for feeling the cold feelings and hot decaf teas. I only had 2 bouts of the runs and it was not bad really. I spent more time in the bathroom getting rid of the full bladder lol.
I have suffered from chronic sinus infections throughout this past year. I had sinus surgery at the end of March. Unfortunately, this has failed to ease the pain. My primary care physician prescribed Vicodin to help with the pain. Since then I have had to switch to Percocet because I have built up a tolerance to the previous pain medication. I would appreciate any suggestions about possible steps I can take from here.
It seems a lot longer. Seems like so much has happened during that time. I have had a non stop sinus infection. I even took a full course of anti-biotics and I still have the infection. The headaches are the worst. I have been living off of Benadryl. I decided to stop taking Seroquel too. It was prescribed for sleep. It is also an anti-depressent. It left me groggy and feeling like I was in a fog and I didn't want to take it anymore. I didn't feel like tapering so I just stopped CT.
I have had frequent sinus infections for the past 10 years. I often experience some pain & pressure in my upper teeth, but never enough to prevent me from chewing, etc... Three weeks ago I developed yet another sinus infection & the most INTENSE tooth pain I have ever felt. It seemed to be especially bad in a tooth that actually has had a root canal. I take three Vicodin a day for my fibromyalgia, but they did not even begin to touch the pain.
Hello All, It is very calming for me to see that so many people suffer from my exact problems, I had the endoscopic sinus surgery done 7 years ago because of chronic sinus infections. I recently went in for a CT-Scan due to problems again. The Doc put me on Asterlin and Nasalcort for 2 months, it did releive the constant running and stuffiness but, the CT came back almost totally grey. Doc said they looked like polyps to her but didn't recommend surgery again.
Hi, My daughter, 19, had her wisdom teeth out a few weeks ago. She was given vicodin 50, 1-2 every 4-6 as needed for pain. She found 1 was not enough and was taking 2 every 6 hours. She ended up with complications and an extended recovery and pain, so the Dr. gave her a new script. We asked for 75 as 50 wasn't working and 2 x 50 (100) was too much, making her really high and sleepy.
I don’t understand how that could happen that I could be so allergic to so many things in a few years. So the more allergies I contracted the worse my sinus infections became and so on. A few years ago I was scheduled to have surgery; I didn’t like the doctor, well his attitude anyway. And I didn’t have a feeling of trust towards him so I cancelled.
I have been sick with a bad headcold/sinus infection :( sux how is every1? Bama?
My husband can go to urgent care with a sinus infection and he is offered a shot and written out a prescription for vicodin, anytime i've ever been to an urgent care for a sinus infection, I'm given a prescription for an anti-biotic and told to take tylenol.. I have tried many kinds of preventative treatment and treatment for migraines over the years, it doesn't mean that I never get another migraine again, midrin is the stupidest excuse for a drug to kill pain of a migraine that there is!
dentist kept giving me anti biotics and Vicodine. There ended up being an infection in there that ate through my sinus membrane...after two root canals the tooth had to came out and I had to have surgery by ENT...as I am doing reserch, this seems to be more of a problem and I am finding many with sever infections that dentits are just dismissing as minor and perscribe antibiotics....There needs to be a better way to deteched infection before major pain and surgery arise....
It is definitive for Lyme and doctors are supposed to treat it immediately, no testing necessary. The usual abx prescriptions for sinus infections, et.al. won't cure Lyme. Unless you had high dose Doxycycline, Amoxicillin, or other Lyme killing drug for several weeks early in the disease, then you still have it. It is rare for a person's immune system to clear the bacteria by itself.
After about 8 months, I got another ear infection (this started the whole problem some 12-13 years ago and in between allergy injection cycles) and have been dealing with a sinus infection (went away with treatments although it is still red), running nose at times, mucous build up in the middle ear, and tinnitus (the last two are really irritating). I'm trying to get my allergist to go back to the original allergen that was successful. I go in for another scratch test tomorrow.

I was diagnosed with non allegic rhinitis - symptoms are year round nasal congestion, congestion triggered by strong odors, pollution, temperature changes, postnasal drip, unexplained fatigue, frequent headaches, recurrent sinus/respiratory infections. So...pollution, temp. changes, fatigue sounds like you. I don't have "head" aches, but face pressure and aches that actually make me sick to my stomach - throws my balance off, and reading makes me sicker if I'm like that.
Mine is mostly sinus/throat/upper respiratory stuff and a nasty UTI. Before TX I got frequent sinus infections, too - I'm on allergy meds and injections as well as cipro, allergy meds, nexium, TX meds - interferon and riba wreak havoc on the immune system.
She just looked inside my nose and said that it's a sinus/staph infection. She said it's not the serious staph and that everyone has staph in their nose. She put me on a second round of antibiotic right away instead of messing around with the first round because she thought that they swelling was unusual. The antibiotic I'm on is called "Avelox" and I saw improvement with the swelling in <24 hrs. The swelling and paint is almost completely gone! What a relief!
I had waited through toothaches for almost 3 years to get this root canal done due to fear, but once I saw a giant fistula form on my gum above the infected tooth, I finally decided to get it done. I had the procedure done in one sitting completely under IV sedation. I came home confused and went straight to rest. I was prescribed Vicodin and Clindamycin. I forgot to take the Climdamycin for the first two days, but picked it up immediately on day three.
Earache or otalgia can be caused a wide variety of abnormalities including dental abnormalities or infections; temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ); sinus, pharyngeal or salivary gland infections; temporal arteritis (inflammation of the superficial temporal artery); cervical arthritis; neuralgia (nerve pain); even a neoplasm. The search for the definitive diagnosis can sometimes be quite exasparating specially if none of the symptoms provide a "localization sign".
It took me 2 weeks to be able to get to the speacialist. By that time I already been on vicodin ES for a mont becaus of this tooth. The speacialst ended up getting the file out ad come to find out I had 3 broke off deep in my tissue which gotten affected. Thank goodness i'm not in pain now.....But now im addicted to the vicodin. I haven't taken it yet today and I can tell that I'm feeling sick. What are symptoms of withdrawl? Can I get sinus problems or a sore throat? I'm on atibiotics also....
