I stumbled upon this conversation after Googling "cocaine + sinus infection" because I shared a similar bad experience with Nick. After doing a few lines the night before, I woke up the next morning with my head spinning from sinus congestion & my ears were ringing & my throat was sore. I took a hot shower, & the steam must have made me clear out a large scab looking thing from my sinus & another from the back of my throat.
She thought it was a toothache, so after seeing her dentist, getting xrays, she ruled out any tooth issues (except possibly a root canal gone bad) and said possibly a sinus infection to which she prescribed pennicillin. Last night my daughter awoke in tremendous agony and her regular doctor appt. isn't until this afternoon to check for a sinus infection. Also dentist referred me to an oral surgeon, just in case, to check her root canal that was done 3 yrs. ago.
Seemed to think problem was other than tooth-- possible ear infection or sinus infection. He gave me two perscriptions. I then went to see my primary care Dr. who examined upper respiratory system. He seems to think I have a sinus infection but said it could also be start of shingles. He converted my dentist's perscriptions to vicodin, azithromycin, & MucinexD. Still much pain 12 hrs. later. Hope this stuff works. Your comments?
to complain about being congested and went back about 3 weeks ago for ear pain which turned out to be a sinus infection. Ear pain is still here, no ear infection. Now I can't get to sleep easily at night because my face hurts.
i say i don't think because when i stopped them cold turkey i was also getting a sinus infection so it was hard to tell what was the sinus problem and what were the withdrawals. I am one that cannot wean myself. Tried it and can't do it as long as I have the pills in the house. I even gave them to my husband to hold and then searched the entire house for them. He didn't hide them well at all. Dummy. ha ha.
I have had sinus infections before but never painful like this. Is this normal for a sinus infection? Should I be doing anything else? How long does it take for the pain to go away??
I've had an MRI that showed a cyst in the right maxillary sinus, and the doctor said there was nothing to worry about. For a period of about 3 months, I took 40mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen per day, but I am no longer taking any hydrocodone at all. I am now taking 2mg buprenorphine per day to detox from the hydrocodone.
i have had trouble my entire pregnancy with headaches, ive never had migranes before, but i began to have headaches so bad i could hardly function, my doctor said most likely i suffer from chronic sinusitus, which is basically an ongoing sinus infection he perscribed psuedoeffedrine, and its worked wonders, i still get headaches from time to time, but i chalk them up to being 34 weeks pregnant and having a wild 19 month old to chase around, i was totally unaware of the infection, meaning i wa
I have a neurological disorder called syringomyelia which causes intense pain from the base of my skull down my spine. I have been on vicodin for about 2.5 years, 1 in the morning. Before that I was taking one as needed which was usually 1-2 times a week, for about 5 years. I too find that when I dont take that one vicodin in the morning, by afternoon i am a nervous wreck. I guess we are fortunate in that we are not trying to get off a higher dose.
It seems a lot longer. Seems like so much has happened during that time. I have had a non stop sinus infection. I even took a full course of anti-biotics and I still have the infection. The headaches are the worst. I have been living off of Benadryl. I decided to stop taking Seroquel too. It was prescribed for sleep. It is also an anti-depressent. It left me groggy and feeling like I was in a fog and I didn't want to take it anymore. I didn't feel like tapering so I just stopped CT.
i've been taking vicodin es for a painful arthritic condition off and on for about six months. recently, my physician switched me to percocet. i fear i'm addicted because i take at least three of these every morning....just to get going. is there another drug that you reccommend i have him switch me to .... to get me off these two drugs?
hi 28yr old female, i have been dealing with a severe sinus infection for about 2 mos, severe pressure in face and ears, swollen, painful lympnodes on skull, i have been put on augmentin, predensone, vicodin for pain and now another anitbiotic levquin, nothing seems to be helping, had a ct scan of sinuses, doc says it is definatley sinusitus. i am scared. has anyone had the lymph node problem before. any advice on what to do next? i feel like i am losing my mind. thanks.
I also stuck to soups, chicken noodle and rice and lets see some popsicles and things that runny noses can stand. I had a sinus infection on top of withdrawl so hard for me to tell what part was withdrawl and what part was being sick. I just did not try to eat solids because I was really so full of powerade I felt no hunger. I used a heating pad and wrapped up in a huge fleece blanket for feeling the cold feelings and hot decaf teas.
, Wednesday - have infection in one sinus and the other started bleeding again, headaches r back full force, i guess im pushing it to hard, even though im not out in the cold... tried my sinus rinse, i got a bad blockage, wouldn't budge just caused bad pressure and now--- back to bed with ice pack. Thursday.
ordered CT scan for next week to see if there is still some type of sinus infection. I still continue to have sinus pain on right side, especially around jaw and can feel pain in my top teeth. I also discharge a LOT of rubbery, thick mucous from the right side of my nose since the surgery...I never had anything close to this consistency before the surgery. Is is possible that I have had some kind of complication from this surgery that would be causing all of these frequent infections?
I see this was several months ago.....I'm curious.....what was the end result for you? Just another sinus infection or something more difficult to diagnose and treat? I hope you're over it now!
I wasted 5 years of sinus infection treatments prescribed by a primary care physician, when I should have seen an ENT even to diagnose me with a sinus infection. I would rather for my ENT to tell me that I have a sinus infection, than my primary care physician. The sinus problems we are experiencing is CRITICAL to our overall health. DO NOT ignore the signs. See a specialist immediately, so you can be on your road to recovery.
I been taking vicodin now for maybe a year or two it started as one pill a day of 500 mg's but now I am taking almost 2000 mg's a day and want out! I feel like CRAP without it. Please help.
(Except right after infection, Lyme needs longer antibiotic treatment that the few weeks that most infection require, so even though you've been treated for other things, the treatments were likely not for infections like Lyme -- which often takes months of treatment with specific antibiotics not often used for other ailments.
In February of this year I got a CT scan and the ENT doctor said I have a severe deviated septum with chronic sinusitis. I was treated for a sinus infection and that was it. I still felt bad so I went to a neurologist. He wrote it off as a vestibular problem. I did vestibular therapy for 2 months with almost no relief. In May when allergy season started, everything got worse. I have had nonstop sinus pressure/pain, headache, dizziness, major eye strain, my face is sore, my teeth are sore.
My husband can go to urgent care with a sinus infection and he is offered a shot and written out a prescription for vicodin, anytime i've ever been to an urgent care for a sinus infection, I'm given a prescription for an anti-biotic and told to take tylenol.. I have tried many kinds of preventative treatment and treatment for migraines over the years, it doesn't mean that I never get another migraine again, midrin is the stupidest excuse for a drug to kill pain of a migraine that there is!
I had to take Vicodin for several days until I finally got a handle on it. I would insist on seeing a ENT. The worst that could happen is he doesn't see anything.
I took the Z pack and then wound up in the hospital with a nasty ear infection where they put me on vicodin and numbing ear drops. I didn't get better and went to the doctor who put me on agumentom 875. Then the ENT put a whole in my ear drum to drain it and gave me some sort of anitbiotic/steriod ear drop. While my ear is better I am still terribly sick. Last thursday the doc put me on agumentom 1000 and steroids! My head feels like it weighs 1000 pounds yet my nose is clear.
I feel so sorry for you. I am in WV, and have had the sinus pressure and feels like swelling in my head which makes me have trouble with balance, and sometimes hear high pitched noises. I've always had sinus but nothing like this. I've had blood work, etc., 3 rounds of antibiotics, and family dr. sent me to ear, nose, throat specialist, who gave me all the nasal antihistamines and steroid sprays which didn't help.
I've now been infection clear for the last week. I will continue treatment for at least another week, although now just three times a day. All feels good so hope this helps someone out there. By the way, the Dettol cream is a bit stronger than the Savlon and stings the sensitive parts of the nostril for about 5 or 10 minutes after each application. Worth putting up with though.
It seemed that the whole thing started as a sinus infection but then I went for a CT scan of sinuses and they were clear. I have been having symptoms of dizziness, head pain, shakiness and a spaced out kind of foggy feeling like i am watching my life from the outside - all day every day. There are some times for a couple of hours during the day that the symptoms may lift and give me a few moments to live- but not much.
I've never heard of that being prescribed for pain, maybe he thinks your stress level is making the itching and pain worse. What week are you on now trigger? Sorry to hear it's been rough lately. I have a sinus infection but a dr. appt tomorrow. You can bet your sweeet life I won't get any valium prescibed! It took me weeks to get something for the itching. Do you have a rash or just itching?
I was prescribed Vicodin and Clindamycin. I forgot to take the Climdamycin for the first two days, but picked it up immediately on day three. By the end of day three I found myself in EXCRUCIATING pain that 2 Vicodins couldn't ease and my face was still very swollen even after taking Clindamycin. I was so sick to my stomach due to the Clindamycin that I called my doctor to ask for something else less upsetting on day four. He prescribed Keflex instead.
I am currently already on 6 meds, (amytriptaline, plaquinil, motrin, methotrexate, vicodin, and prednisone for flares). Thank-you in advance for you help, Tina V. ===================================================================== Thanks for you question.
Started amoxicillin two days ago (prescribed for the earlier sinus infection). It is starting to feel a little better. I was really worried about staph or MRSP. Glad to know I am not the only one with this bizarre infection. I'm giving it two more days.
