how do u feel on days when u don't take it besides the cough? I know for me, when i finally stopped taking vicodin totally, i did have a cough & learned that the vicodin was actually a cough suppressant so it was a common w/d effect. I don't know if it is the same with the oxy.
I have a constant tickle in the throat. I cough up a small clear plug of mucus. The cough gets worse at night. I cough unitil I vomit. I have an inspiratory wheeze. During the night i wake and can hear a crackle and wheeze on expiration, I cannot expire completlly it makes me cough.
I am short of breath on exertion and even talking is difficult when my throat is irritated.
Is there any danger in taking over the counter cough and cold products for a recently recovering opiate addict? What can they take for a cold, particularly a severe cough?
You'll make it. It may be bumpy. It was for me but you will make it. I went back on day three of oxie withdrawal. That was a b**** I developed a bad cough. I coughed like a sick horse lol. Ever heard a horse cough. It's loud and bad. I tried otc cough syrup. Halls worked best. Remember Monday is Monday and this is after a long holiday. Lots of people are gonna drag in. I have been addicted to vicodin for about 3 1/2 years and have quit a couple of times, which lasted no longer than 10 days. Last Saturday, I started c/t again and it was the easiest detox I have gone through, up until now. I felt pretty decent day 4 through 5, but yesterday I woke up with a severe head cold and cough. It is even worse today. I am feeling pretty down today because I just want to feel decent.

until I was diagnosed with arthritis in my lower back - well as luck would have it I was prescribed Vicodin with has the same crap in it as the cough medicine Tussionex had. Well long story short I have finally come to my senses and gave it all up. I can do it...but man oh man this withdrawal is really terrible....

My brother who was 51 years old, just died of cardiomegaly (500 grams) and severe arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Hello- I am experiencing the following symptoms from vicodin withdrawel- terrible anxiety, flu symptoms, cough, sore throat, dizziness, and headaches. I already suffer from chronic sleep deprivation from several sleep disorders- this anxiety is the worst- wont let me sleep at all!! Help please. What can I do to help with the terrible anxiety??
There's no specific forum within medhelp that does only with cough syrup. But you came to the right place. Codeine isn't much different than vicodin, percocet, etc. They are all opiates and the addiction is identical as is the withdrawals and mental aspect of it. There are many here that can help. I'm just collecting my thoughts here, I was taking between 12-15 vicodin 10's a day for about a year. I mean over a year I built up to that amount and have been doing it steady for about 5 months. I was moved acrossed the country by my job. A very good job that I like, and lost access to my supplier, and it ***** that my ability to handle my addiction was.
I have withdrawn from vicodin several times (unfortunately) and do not recall a cough. You may have something underlying....good thing to see your considering going to a doc, but watch out they don't just med you up like they always do! I recently went for sinus pain and that's exactly what they gave me - Zyrtec plus a $50 nose spray which I used once and threw out because it tasted bad and burned my throat.
Hi, I am 35 male who have been taking up to 160 mgs oxycotin a day and if I can't get oxy's I'd get 10 mg methadone..this has been going on since April I'd say I'd take Oxy's 3 days and then Methadone for the remaining 4 days of the week. I have been trying to taper down and have been succesful...My last Oxy was a 40 and it was Friday Morning. I took 4 perc 10's and 5 mg methadone..Saturday...Sunday I took 75 mg morphine... Monday 10 mg methadone....
My doctor thought that it was gallbladder related , maybe stones, ultrasound showed nothing. Dr. considered ct scan , decided against it at last min. So now im on keflex, zithromax, albuterol, zofran, tums, cough drops, robitussin dm, and got a shot of rocefin in the arse. How does an ear infection turn into pneumonia? ??? I didn't even know that was possible! And my doc says taking all these meds is safe but that seems like an awful lot to me.
the sensation of food stuck to the side of my throat has been irritating,so i cough until i throw up,which eventually gets rid of the stuck food sensation.I have had a barium swallow nothing showed.I went to an ent,stated mild esophagitis.then to a gi specialist where an egd was preformed.stated mild esophagitis he told me it was mostly stress,so i have been on xyxnax o.5mg for a while,which just made me sleep and not eat.we switched to ativan,and i still have the food stuck sensation.
