Vicodin and tylenol 3

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin and tylenol 3

vicodin

I suffer from severe migraines and I am 16 weeks pregnant, I take 2 tylenol 3 (tylenol with codiene) in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, they help, might want to check with your dr as they are a narcotic
Tramadol is not even a narcotic or opiate. Its not similar to vicodin either. tylenol 3 is a very weak opiate. It acts like most pain killers. It blocks out the opiade receptors in your brain that make you feel pain.
If you take it regularly and close to delivery there is a chance the baby might be born with a slight addiction (depending on how much you use) but that is easily treated as well if they know about it. I have been prescribed vicodin and percocet throughout my pregnancy and have been assured by my doctors (and by my own research) that it should not hurt the baby's development or anything like that. Good luck.
@newoutlook12 tylenol 3 and vicodin are not the same thing. tylenol 3 is acetaminophen and codeine and vicodin is hydrocodone and acetaminophen. @chelecameron I have taken vicodin before during pregnancy be Dr said short term was fine, it's long term that has the higher risks, but still not fully proven if it causes any problems with the baby.
that means 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of tylenol....at any rate..3 pills a day is very doable...but i do know that it is still hard...my average dose was 6 pills a day...you can start cutting down and then quit or just go ahead and quit....u will feel kinda clammy and flu-like for 4-5 days and the physical part will be pretty much over...then you just gotta get your mind to work with you as with quitting any habit...there is lots of support here...
I have went through withdraws for two days before I gave in. I take 3 every 3 to 4 hrs a day. Please let me know what to do. If nothing works, I will call a dr and take the steps I need to take.
Mine has taken me from 2-3 migraines a week to 2 a month that I can manage with nothing more than caffeine and tylenol. Also, regular chiropractic care will help your labor and delivery to be easier and less painful.
I have an addictive personality so everytime I've gotten a script for legitimate pain I wind up taking more and don't want to stop however my mom hates drugs and she just went thru frozen shoulder and surgery and she was prescribed vicodin (60 10 mg pills) and only took them for about 2 weeks until the pain was bearable and switched to tylenol and that was it. You know yourself, so you need to answer your question. Good luck to you and hope your back feels better.
The doc prescibed me Vicodin ES. After the first month I built up a tolerence and continued to. The most of these I would take in a day would probably be 12-16 pills. I decided I didn't want this addictive opioid to take over my life. My prescription ran out, and even though I had another refill I didn't want to refill it. I want to quit! I started yesterday morning. I took my last pill at 9am yesterday. It is now 10pm the day after. It has been hell.
I don't anticipate big w/ds because I am tapering down -- but when I am on 2 a day for 3 days, and then 1 a day for 3 days and flush the rest -- will I have withdrawals and will the stadol help? The taper has been over a 3 week period and I have been "addicted" to the taper -- ie following my schedule religiously... Anyone with comments or info on hydro and birth complications/defects, please email me. Anyone with info on my questions, please email. God bless us all...
The bad withdrawals will last about 3-4 days and then they taper off. About a week in all. But you will still be tired for a while, you will most likely not sleep well for a while. You difinately wont sleep for the first part of the withdrawals. Your energy will come back and the length of time is different for everyone. Dont get discouraged. As I mentioned being prepared is part of the battle. Also if this drug use is recreational you will need to deal with that problem too.
people quit taking vicodin at a much higher dose and never look back, they had said they just didn't feel good and never associated anything with withdrawal. You say you are sensitive to medication? has any other med you have taken produced the same kind of effect? are you on anything else and have you ever had a panic attack before?
So i posted couple days ago bout my severe migrains i finally went to my first prenatal appt foundout i was 10 weeks not 12. He presc me tylenol 3 which has codeine in it he said its safe but im kinda scared to take it :( will somebody let me know if its safe??
Can anyone tell me the difference between tylenol 3 and hydrocodone, I understand the hydrocodone is a synthetic of codeine, but as far a strength of tylenol 3 vs one 5mg vicodin? What is the addiction factor, what is worse codeine or hydrocodone? Just curious..
I could barely talk. I had Vicodin, tylenol, and Aspirin and was taking all three and still nearly in tears. I felt like all my left teeth were being crushed. I went in to ask a different dentist since mine wasn't in and he told me that because of the amount of pain and how far in my mouth and face it was referring, I should get it extracted, but he'd have to use only local anesthetic and it would be very stressful for me, so the choice was mine. I had him take it out.
I would take tylenol only, I fear you are trading one addictive med for another.
I had sleep issues and took tylenol PM and it worked good... for a while. I then went to the doctor and he persribed Ambien CR and it worked good...for a while. Now I can't sleep and none of it helps. I am tapering off vicodin and that contributes to my non sleep thing, layed in bed last night for 7hrs never fell asleep. It might be a quick fix but in the end won't last. That is what I have found.
Proposed tylenol restrictions worry patients FDA is considering reduced maximum dose, ban on Vicodin and Percocet WASHINGTON - Proposed limits on tylenol, a painkiller as common as pain itself, have left many consumers fearful, confused and wondering where to turn for relief. The potential government crackdown on acetaminophen, tylenol's main ingredient, would affect everyone from occasional pill poppers to chronic pain sufferers who rely on daily doses to make their lives more bearable.
( So what would Vicodin be in correlation to tylenol #3. Knowing that it is a whole lot stronger I'm sure but i'm guessing with any medication the kidney and liver filter everything and I'm sure are overworked with any kind of overuse. Seems that alcohol is the worst of them all. It's pretty awful seeing someone with cirrhosis and having a bloated tummy :( I got myself all freaked out now reading this forum!!!
My friend dropped the script off at his usual Rite Aid (where he also fills his darvocet) and roughly an hour or two later returned, only to be denied the tylenol 3s. From what he's told me, the pharmacist told him that he should still have darvocet and that that should be sufficient. My friend does NOT have any more darvocet because he had lent several to his mother and taken a few more than usual as of late because of the pain.
if you cant quit then try to get the norco 10/325 because they only have 325 mg of tylenol (versus 500 mg in the 5/500's) and you would only take 3 of them to get the same amount of narcotic as the 6 5/500's. and you would only get about 1/3 of the tylenol.
does anyone know if there is any similarity between tylenol 3 or4 and vicoden?what about the symptoms of w/d from tylenol w/codeine?
many 5 mg pills have the same tylenol as 10 mg pills..so check ur tylenol and be safe with it..4000 mgs is the daily dose/max daily dose/of tylenol..when u r ready to quit come back and post on the forum...hydrocodone should help/not quite as strong as oxycodone in percocet but very close...
I also have some tylenol 3's and I used them the first couple days of going cold turkey off vicodin, I found that it just made me feel worse and I was also worried that it was just dragging on the withdrawals so I stopped all opiates... I put all my darvocet and tylenol 3 away so I wouldn't be tempted and my detox has been going pretty good. I've been using the amino acid protocol and battling the symptoms head on.
Per Dose Max is 1,000mg of tylenol, and Max for 24 Hours is 4,000mg of tylenol. But if your taking 3, then your taking 500mg over what you really should. It's the same as taking 3 x 500mg tylenol all at once. Just try to spread the count out, or at least the 3rd one out 6 hours after the first 2... You really shouldn't have any trouble w/ you liver on that dose...there is alot more in here on higher amouts! But you would be alright if you just spread it out some!
I have widespread intense back pain. I've tried tylenol and ibuprofen and neither have helped even 2%. I'm technically not supposed to take ibuprofen or aspirin because I have recurring chronic gastritis so all the docs said stop taking them and stick to tylenol. I've tried hot baths, epsom salt...nothing. I've even had my partner give me a back massage but it only relieves tension for maybe 2 minutes then the pain is back to being at a 10. It's making me feel very feverish and fatigued.
