vicodin

Avatar f tn I am taking 200mg Lyrica daily, plus 20mg Prozac, and Vicodin 5/500 as needed. I am miserable today - hurt all over I have a dr appt tomorrow morning but today is still long. I'm out of Vicodin and I have had a few 8 mg Dilaudid hanging around for awhile because a friend gave them to me. Has anyone had this combination of drugs? I need something but I am afraid the Lyrica and Prozac might interact with Dilaudid. Has anyone used Dilaudid to manage Fibro pain?
Avatar n tn Mom is close to 84, widowed for 2 1/2 years and addicted to vicodin. Her lovely doctor gave her Vicodin for many (>5?) years, for arthritis and other misc. pains. She was out of control and would take 2 750s at a time, going through her monthly prescription in less than 2 weeks. She started taking Ambien mid-day so she could sleep through her cravings, but she denies that was why.
Avatar n tn I here about Loratab, Vicodin etc. I was on Roxicet (percs 5/325) which was bad enough. Are they all just about the same except for the opiate amount? I just want to know so when I here people talk about what they were on I will have some idea about how addictive they are.
Avatar n tn My mother is 73 and is suffering from severe depression and arthritis in her lower back. The vicodin was prescribed to her for her pain. When her physician took her off of it he told my sister to give her ativan 1mg three times a day for her depression. this seems to help at times but when she is alone or with my father she see's things that really scare the entire family. She has been off of her vicodin for 2 1/2 weeks...
Avatar f tn He had an extensive history of drug and alcohol problems (cocaine, pill that includes Vicodin and Xanax) but remained abstinent for a six-year period. The father’s drugs use has caused marital discord. Her mother has no drug or alcohol history. She tends to keep her husband’s problems secretive to other family members. Last year, Grace’s father overdosed on Vicodin (an opioid) and Xanax (a tranquilizer) and was rushed to a local hospital and revived. Martial issues persist.
Avatar n tn 5 mg vicodin every 4 hours around the clock, and more if she can get her hands on it....she is a new dialysis patient, has chronic neck pain (degeneration), and just this week she entered a nursing home for rehabilitation (our suggestion). Long story short, she is 70, a recovered alcoholic (dry 15 yrs.) and during that time she also had been addicted to prescription drugs (vicodin, librium).
Avatar f tn Hi. 5'10" Gent, and brand spankin newbie to this site. i just turned 56 in April. In my journal August. 12, 2013, I recorded wgt. 247.5 lb, BP 157/101, severe depression & anxiety with heaart palpitations and mid-nightime panic attacks. Also using CPAP setting of 14cm for severe sleep apnea, and suffered almost daily migraines. Plus my triglicerides were, as my dr put it, "through the roof!
Avatar f tn I am 6 months pregnant and have been taking vicodin everyday for the past 2 months. i only take 1-2 vicodin 10/325. i started out with only half of one but it has progressed to 1 sometimes 2 a day. i think i am getting addicted to them because i know i shouldnt be taking them but i cannot resist the urge. i have bad hip and back pain but even on days when its not that bad and i could do without i still take them. i am really ashamed and have alot of guilt from it.
Avatar n tn The work I do entitles lifting elderly residents, and I do work 16 hour shifts. I dont take more then the recommended dose which is 4 tablets a day. Panlor SS is acetaminophen, caffeine and dihydrocodeine. This may sound bad, but somehow I am out of my script 5 days early. My doctor wont renew my script till the 13th, and Im trying to figure out what im going to do for pain. Im scared to go thru a withdrawal period these next few days, but more so, the pain Im going to occur.
Avatar m tn t had any Vicodin for months now. However, the Risperdal seems to make me feel fatigued and not wanting to do anything. I could do without it I think...
1516809 tn?1345082764 My elderly mother has Alzheimer's Disease, she is 87, and recently developed elevated Liver Enzymes. Her geriatrician stopped all her meds including those for Alzheimers to stabilize her liver. Once her Liver stabilized, the doctor introduced Risperdal stating that it is less liver antagonistic. I have read much about Risperdal being fatal to the elderly but I have also read that given in low doses it is quite effective.
1041243 tn?1375230520 but in my personal experience, thats all that vicodin does, too. vicodin makes me violently ill and i found that ibuprofen, tylenol and asprin all worked better than the vicodin...but i talked to my doc first, which is what you should do.
Avatar f tn For example, Vicodin can be 5mg of hydro and 500mg of tylenol as can Lortab. Or Vicodin can be 10mg of hydro and 325 mg of tylenol and so can Lortab. So they only way one will be stronger than the other as if the Vicodin was 5/500 and the Lortab is 10/325. I hope I have been clear in anwsering your question. If I haven't been please let me know.
Avatar f tn 3 years ago I had a fall and 4 weeks after the fall my doc finally sent me for x-rays. I had a 50 % frature of the T12. Because of the time lapse they said it was healed to much to try to expand it back. I have been on pain meds of all kinds and my doctor recommended a pain clinic. I filled out all the paperwork and same day started my series of injections in my spine. He also prescribed Percoset 10/325 1 every 4 to 6 hours and flexeril as needed for back spasms.
Avatar n tn What do you think about Valium and the elderly, Ryan?
611606 tn?1315517767 How very kind you are to respond so quickly. I found comfort in your words. Smokie has been my reason to get up each day, he's been my room mate and companion and comforter all these years. After 15 years he still suckles my thumb to fall a sleep. He has stopped doing this a bout 2 weeks ago. He is a little stand offish when it comes to other people. Check out my page and you will see I have a few photos of Him and also my Mom's baby boy, Shadow. Have a beautiful day, and thank you again.
Avatar n tn Joan Has your mother had Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 levels checked. Many elderly people do not produce enough of these vitamins and this can produce signs of dementia. Check out the website www.doctoryourself.com. Vitamin C is also a great healer in large divided doses and may work to prevent future UTI's. Look into niacin or niacinamide for relaxation at night. Aricept is also a medication that sometimes helps with the forgetflness.
691463 tn?1227419054 Have your cat checked out for Hyperthyroidism and feline diabetes. They're fairly common illnesses in a cat of that age...and both would fit the symptoms you describe.
1681684 tn?1305029336 Yes, could be pain, could be sight problems and could just be old age and dementia. Next time you are at the Vet, ask about her vision. As a matter of fact, how is her hearing???

Avatar n tn I have heard that Suboxone could be used for pain in the elderly population to take the place of the many pain medications they may be on. such as morphine and Oxycodone Does anyone do this and how would I approach my Mother's Doctor about this. .
Avatar f tn I had brain tumor surgery in June and have been on Vicodin. In the last month i have been alternating (every 4 hrs) both Vicodin and Tramadol on a daily basis.I thought it would be a good way to decrease the Vicodin. I read the "precautions" for tramadol and it states "do not take with narcotics or other opioids". Then I realize that tramadol is just as addicting as vicodin. So why would a physician prescribe tramadol to try to get off the vicodin?
Avatar f tn If an elderly person is on SSRI for depression and it isn't helping and she is becoming more angry, agitated, since the med.
Avatar f tn Vicodin contains acetaminophen. Acetaminophen= Tylenol ----- paracetamol is the name in Europe. Oddly enough (except for the obvious concern about addiction) the Black Box warning on Vicodin's package insert is: "IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION BOXED WARNING Hepatotoxicity: Acetaminophen has been associated with cases of acute liver failure, at times resulting in liver transplant and death.
Avatar m tn Could your mother be suffering from an undiagnosed chronic pain condition that is causing her depression, and moving her to self-medicate with Vicodin. Or is the Vicodin prescribed by her doctor? Let me finish with this -- they are both on low doses of hydrocodone -- the opioid analgesic in Vicodin. If they are in pain, they need this medication. I doubt if either are addicted to their medication.
