Common Questions and Answers about Viagra and the liver

viagra

Avatar f tn Your hepatologist should have the last say - irregardless of what the other doctors think. Yes, Viagra is a problem for patients dealing with liver and kidney disease. Unless my liver team tells me it's ok, I don't do it. Just be careful.
Avatar m tn Is it safe for hepatitis b patients to take Viagra so they can get hard errection? Will Viagra cause any damage to liver in hepatitis b patients?
Avatar m tn My boyfriend has cirrhosis of the liver. He usually doesn't have a problem getting an erection, but he does sometimes. Mainly he has trouble keeping an erection and a lot of times cannot reach climax or ejaculate? Is there anything he or we can do to help this situation?
Avatar n tn According to the literature on the testosterone cream, he should NOT be using it with liver disease. His doctor also lets him take tylenol for aches and pains associated with the treatment. He pops tylenol probably everyday. I know my husband should be exercising and eating healthier but those are choices he has made (I have tried to tell him that his liver can not handle the extra weight and he nevers goes in for a physical so I have no idea what his cholesterol is).
Avatar n tn I am just a beginner here myself, but I know that your slightly elevated AST level does not mean that you have Hepatitis C. It can have other causes such as drinking alcohol on a regular basis or some other medical problem.
Avatar f tn Please try Viagra if you are a woman who has MS. The study for efficacy of Viagra in women which is currently in progress is a study for sexual enhancement for women. So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you.
Avatar n tn On my question about giving tracleer to a human being that has already severe cirohssis of liver, you did not really answer my question.Person was told her liver was fine and it was not,so was given tracleer, and she is at a point of dying.Tracleer was given for pulmonaty hypertension. I think they shouldn't have given her tracleer. You say tracleer can cause liver problems, when severe cirohssis was already present. PLEASE ANSWER WHAT I AM ASKING.
Avatar f tn My husband is on the medication Suboxone and I was needing to know if he can take Viagra with this medicine? We don't want him to take it and go into withdraws or anything so, are the two compatible?
Avatar m tn Please do more web searches and DO NOT use Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. I also have RP and ED. I bought L-arginine/Orinithine but am wary about using until I read that it's ok. Blood flow changes seem to be very bad to already bad retinal cells.
Avatar n tn I am scheduled for a thallium stress test, and would like to know how the use of viagra or nitro prior to the test would influance the results.
Avatar m tn Remember, the original purpose of this substance was to relax blood vessels, and if you overdo it, you can have consequences with the heart and other parts of the body the drug was originally intended to affect. By altering the way the drug was manufactured to be used, again, you are on your own, it wasn't studied to be used this way, it was made to be ingested. You will still eventually digest it and filter it through the liver, but differently than if you ingest it.
Avatar m tn It has helped but it has not solved the problem. I went to my doctor and he gave me a prescription for Viagra, 50 mg. My question is this: Is it safe to occasionally take Viagra if I also take L-Arginine? Are there are any potential contra indications in that Viagra should not be taken by a person who takes L-Arginine? If so, is the contraindication just for that day? In other words, would I be safe if I did not take L-Arginine on the day I took Viagra?
Avatar f tn ) I should have indicated it is my husband who is taking heart meds that discourage taking viagra. Carvedilol strengthens the heart muscle while viagra dilates the blood vessels to allow more blood to flow. The two drugs would work against one another. I am just trying to find out if occasional use of viagra would be safe or a risk to take.
82818 tn?1206989814 I was thinking...and I wanted to add that the likelihood of being approved for a liver transplant will likely depend on the severity of your pulmonary hypertension. Severe pulmonary hypertension may be a contraindication for surgery as a healthy lung status is necessary to make a recovery from surgery. But judging from what you have written, the comforting thing appears to be that one of your doctors feels that you would be a candidate for surgery. I wish you the best.
1548028 tn?1324612446 He also told me about B12 sublingual only and D3 everyday. He takes this along with the Viagra 5mg every 3 days and he swears it is helping him. He says the "all natural works better for him". My brother saw him a month ago and said how horrible he looked and how he was barely getting around. This is what prompted my call to him. He is very bold and honest. He said he's back on top of the game and wants us to talk to the dr's and try this with Jordan.
Avatar m tn Viagra(Sildenafil) is a vasodilator (that is, a drug that dilates blood vessels), and consequently it lowers the systolic blood pressure (the "top" number in blood pressure measurements) by an average of 8 mmHg. In the majority of patients with heart disease, including most of those being treated with antihypertensive drugs, this is not a problem.

Avatar m tn I do not believe this was caused by Viagra. It usually causes a vascular problem. The new onset of floater should be considered an urgent condition. It is may be associated with retinal tears and subsequent retinal detachment. Dr. O.
17995067 tn?1462167674 to the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as generic Viagra. Viagra is a cash cow for Phiser, and ten years ago a SINGLE pill was 10 dollars, NOW a single bill is 30 Dollars. Every time the time period lapses for this drug to qualify for generic, they tie it up with paperwork-refile with a slight change to keep the generic out of it. If you are getting something from outside the us, it is likely not Viagra at all.
Avatar m tn If I were you, I would not take the viagra, and simply stick with the cialis, that way, you always have the option of sex or no sex, without worry of if its working or not.
Avatar m tn Embarassing I know, but depending on the problem the longer you wait the less chance it will be able to be reversed. I have a similar problem. Viagra works good, but I am working with my doctor to try and find out what is causing it. I don't want to rely on a pill for the rest of my life. Also rarely there could be a serious underlying health condition. Mainly testicular cancer, pituatary tumor (benign or not cancer), liver problems or adrenal gland problems.
Avatar m tn I don't have ED but I was curious if my erections could be stronger. I spoke with my doctor and tried Cialis and Viagra. Since they have much different half-lives, I thought I'd try the following: Taking 10-20 mg Cialis every 2-3 days, then taking 20-40 mg Viagra (generic sildenafil) before sexual activity. My questions isn't whether this is effective - it certainly is. But is there any risk to doing this? I moved so I don't have a doctor right now.
Avatar n tn I'm a 57 year old male who's always had problems with premature ejaculation. I reach orgasm too quickly and have tried all the usual suggestions like kegal exercises. Now i'm wondering if using something like viagra would help. I don't have a problem getting an erection at all. i'm up at ready but once i achieve entry, i only concern is that a orgasm too quickly.
