Avatar m tn I read that L-Arginine could help with my erectile problems and that it works similar to Viagra. Thus, I began taking L-Arginine, 1500 mg. twice a day. It has helped but it has not solved the problem. I went to my doctor and he gave me a prescription for Viagra, 50 mg. My question is this: Is it safe to occasionally take Viagra if I also take L-Arginine? Are there are any potential contra indications in that Viagra should not be taken by a person who takes L-Arginine?
Avatar n tn Definitely check in with your health care provider before using viagra and heart medication. Viagra was accidentally discovered to work for ED when being studied for it's affects on the heart. They always ask you if you are taking this. Men taking ED medications can not take nitrates as a general rule.
Avatar m tn Please do more web searches and DO NOT use Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra. I also have RP and ED. I bought L-arginine/Orinithine but am wary about using until I read that it's ok. Blood flow changes seem to be very bad to already bad retinal cells.
Avatar m tn Hi Richard, are you saying that the drugs give you an erection for five hours, if you are getting this then you could be giving yourself trouble, its recommended if a man has an erection longer than 4 hours he should get off to hospital, your getting into the grounds of a priapism, this because the blood is just sitting there, it does not move, so if I was you just keep your erections to 3 1/2 hours. Do you have an ED problem or are you doing this for recreation purposes?
Avatar f tn So it has nothing to do with MS. Viagra increases blood flow and it helps a lot. It will drop your blood pressure and you don't want it to drop to a dangerous level, so you need to monitor it. Start with the minimum effective dose which is 25mg and see if it does something for you. If you wait for a study from the FDA on Viagra for MS, then it will probably happen after you are dead. Please try this now. Viagra has a very good safety profile for a number of years now.
16087137 tn?1445209323 I started taking Viagra with a prescription after my prostate cancer surgery about two years ago. It really worked well but wasn't covered under my new insurance at all after I retired and I think a months supply from Walgreens or CVS (my local pharmacies) cost around $3-$400 per month. I'm not making alot of money right now, and when I mentioned that to my Dr. he unofficially assured me about generic versions made in Canada, that can legally ship to the US.
Avatar m tn That is because Viagra was a mixture of compounds put together in a drug company to give help to angina sufferers, but the very noticeable side effect was seen. However, they re-branded it for the purpose we see today.
Avatar n tn Both are better viagra have its on quality as cialis also have its unique quality. Both drugs work essentially the same way and both have similar side effects. I think Cialis may work a little faster in some people and may be less sensitive to food or alcohol intake.
Avatar m tn First of all quit smoking and indulge yourself in exercise activity. I used to smoke before and was in similar situation you are in right now.
Avatar n tn There are other drugs than Viagra. They work pretty much the same, but sometimes a particular drug just doesn't work for a particular person. However, it sounds like you have a physiological problem a doctor might be able to diagnose and address. It could also be psychological. I have a similar problem because of prostate surgery. The system has to be intact and healthy in order to work, and you also have to not block it psycho9logically. I would go in and get my testosterone checked.
Avatar m tn As far as I know, long-term use of Viagra or any of the similar ED meds like Cialis or Levitra shdn’t cause loss of sensation. They sometimes DO lose effectiveness over time, but that may be that as a guy ages, his ED becomes worse. Might be best to see a Urologist - you said a Dr. did not prescribe this med for you & it’s generally not a good idea to self-medicate.
Avatar f tn I am just trying to find out if occasional use of viagra would be safe or a risk to take.
Avatar n tn While you may be a candidate for the drugs as they do help in the recovery (especially if you never had any erectile dysfunction before the surgery), these drugs would also have side effects and may be contraindicated in the presence of other conditions like heart disease and run contrary to other medications. The nature of the surgery is also important, as the proof of treatment effect was conducted for men who had nerve sparing surgery.
4295567 tn?1352353163 Hi rambo, Why should that puzzel you, just how many types of the simple aspirin do you know? Herbs I will send you my two post on what I use, there on an ED site, you can google DRUGS VERSUS HERBS, HERBS MY CHOICE, that will take you there.
Avatar n tn Vigamed (phentolamine mesylate) is an ED drug that promotes blood flow to the penis via the sympathetic system. If these don't work, there are still many other options. Testosterone therapy has many risks and could be counterproductive. The famous tri-mix gel might be a safer option: I've heard great things about it but I never tried it. In the future, there will also be gene therapy, which may be the ideal solution for cases like yours.
Avatar n tn Yes is the anwser, all meds for ED do this even herbal, you need to take a brake from Viagra, its best if you can find any of the other ED drugs and then rotate them, or change over to herbs, you could try the 5Gs, just google it and look for pegym, or google DRUGS VESUS HERBS, HERBS MY CHOICE, and follow the instructions that you find, its how I got over ED and now in recovery, but even with these I take a brake for a week and take for 5 out of 7 days, it works and it has to be come a way of li
Avatar f tn The patients taking alpha blockers may use Viagra only after stabilizing of hemodynamic indexes. And lastly, certain drugs for cardiac disease may interact with Viagra, and if you are using them you should avoid it. The drugs are: Calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine (Norvasc). Concomitant use of Amlodipine and Viagra may cause lowering of blood pressure. Alpha blockers like doxazosin (Cardura®), prazosin (Minipress®), and terazosin (Hytrin®).

Avatar n tn Viagra and Levitra are the two FDA (Food and Drugs Administration) approved anti-impotence drugs that are indeed effective in helping men.Viagra needs no introduction! Pfizer's wonder drug, sildenafil, better known as Viagra, is the trusted treatment for male impotence problems.
Avatar m tn try herbal ED drugs...nt as quick effective as viagra but def do help n does less damage ...but a better idea eat healthy n workout n sleep/rest properly..
Avatar m tn I have seen many online advertisements for the sale of non-prescription Viagra.. and usually at, what would appear to be, bargain prices. But, as missaudrina stated, you may want to be wary of trying to purchase it that way. It's my understanding that there are many untrustworthy sources that will take your money and not deliver. And, on the rare chance that you do receive goods, you may be getting something other than the "real thing.
Avatar m tn These medications increase blood flow to the penis by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). The most common side effects of Viagra and the other PDE5 inhibitors are flushing and headache. PDE5 drugs can cause dangerously low blood pressure if they are taken with nitroglycerin or other nitrate medications that are used to treat chest pain and heart disease. In patients that cannot tolerate PDE5 inhibitors there are other treatments available.
Avatar f tn Realize that medications like Viagra and similar ED drugs (Cialis) were originally formulated to treat Hypertension (high blood pressure) as they were found to significantly enhance blood flow. It was soon discovered, during clinical studies, that it improved circulation in "other vital areas" of the body as well. So, essentially... you took a blood pressure reactive medication without having a blood circulation problem! Hence, the swelling and facial flushing.
Avatar n tn t been able to get or hold erections....not often but enough that it bothers me. I have tried all kinds of drugs...viagra, cialis, over the counter stuff....they work but I don't like the side effects or having to use chemicals. Is there anything natural out there that gives you that extra sex drive you need to ensure you always get and hold a good erection...or should I just assume I will have that problem because I am getting older...I don't want to lose it.
Avatar f tn Self-pleasuring does not increase or decrease penis size, and neither do any drugs such as Viagra. Most men erect to between 4” and 5”, with some variation. Whatever size your penis, it can bring both you and your partner great pleasure, especially when combined with accurate information and good communication. Dr.
