Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare urinary retention

vesicare

Avatar n tn Does anyone here have detrusor sphincter dyssynergia or urinary retention and if so how are you treating it?
Avatar n tn Urologist ran another urinalysis and did another pelvic ultrasound, again all clean and negative. He gave me 5 mg of Vesicare to take once daily and told me to come back in a month. After 2 weeks, no relief from the Vesicare, so he gave me a 10 mg doseage. I return to see him on Monday (Feb. 11). My problem is, I have had this pain for 4 months now. I don't know what to do about it. I have tried eliminating citrus, acids, caffeine, etc.
Avatar f tn Now after looking inside my bladder and not seeing any abnormalities, my urologist prescribed Vesicare and sent me on my way. This would all be great except Vesicare doesn't do a darn bit of good. Does any of this sound familiar to any of you? This urge to pee is driving my CRAZY!!!! All advice is welcome!!!!
Avatar m tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include medication side effect, psychological issues such as anxiety, autonomic or hormonal/ endocrine imbalance, neuro-muscular issues etc. There is no specific time limit before urinary retention becomes an emergency; it usually depends on the amount of urine and more commonly on the severity of symptoms.
Avatar m tn Hi, my wife have a difficulty in urinating (Urinary retention). This happens only when she doesn't drink enough water especially during weekend or any off schedules days. She also experience the pain in the back where kidneys are located.Once she starts drinking water, problem resolves in couple of hours. I want to know that how serious is this a problem ? What is the reason and treatments ? Thank you !
Avatar n tn Ok here goes: I'm 28/female, pretty healthy ... on 10/6, about 1 week before I was to leave for Vegas I was extremely nervous about flying. Out of the blue I started having frequent urination problems. No urgency (meaning I could hold it if I had too) but just frequent trips to the bathroom. No real pain or anything. I have an underlying anxiety disorder that is not controlled and I did start to panic about these symptoms which in turn probably made them worse.
Avatar m tn So here I am on day 3 of Vesicare. Anyone have experience with this? I feel like since on it my frequency is actually up a bit. I was told to give it atleast one week but two is better to see improvement so I want to stick it out but I keep thinking can Vesicare make your frequency worse before better? I am not sure what's going and since it's the weekend kind of hard to call and ask!
Avatar m tn I was put on Vesicare 5 mg daily and also was taking fluoxetine for depression and anxiety over this condition. After taking the meds for awhile my symptoms went away and I was symptom free for 3 years. Because of the expense of the vesicare and because I was doing so well. I decided to stop taking both medications. My bladder was fine and normal and then about a year later the symtoms came back. So I am now back on the vesicare and the fluoxetine.
1221035 tn?1301000508 Urinary problems of all sorts are common with MS. Retention is a serious issue, as urine can back up into the kidneys and cause all kinds of problems from there. Also, the longer urine is in the bladder, the greater the chance of infection. UTIs can be dangerous, as many here know from experience. I urge you to see a urologist, or if possible a urogynecologist, as soon as you can. There are tests that can tell a lot about the state of your urinary functioning.
Avatar f tn Other possibilities could urinary retention, and pelvic masses like an enlarged uterus or uterine fibroids. You should have your doctor check a "postvoid residual" which involved passing a catheter in your bladder after you urinate to see how much is left in your bladder after urinating. If this is normal (less than about 50 cc), then that would not be the problem.
Avatar m tn Started me on Levaquin 500mg PO QD x 7 days and Vesicare 10mg PO QD.The cyst went down but the pain around the epdidymis persisted w/ no change. After 4 weeks of Vesicare I still have no change in my nocturia. I had an ultrasound of my bladder, testicles, kidneys all normal. I then had a cystoscopy done which showed no abnormalities besides a tight sphincter. My urologist told me to continue the Vesicare which I have been doing.

Avatar m tn I experienced urinary retention after removing the catheter the day follow HoLAP. The procedure, necessitated by ongoing BPH symptoms, went smoothly, and I was back home that same day. After enduring 8 hours of retention, a catheter was reinserted with cathetrization to be continued for another 6 to 7 days. There was no indication of infection, although I don't know if a urine culture was even taken. But, I am taking Cipro 500MG twice daily.
Avatar f tn //www.depend.com.au/urinary-incontinence/causes/urinary-retention/ What's not on the above list are medication side effects eg tricyclic antidepressants, mental health conditions and menopause, the below list of causes gives more details into the different types of situations that can cause bladder retention....
Avatar n tn A weak bladder muscle, chronic obstruction, and nerve diseases or injury all can contribute to chronic urinary retention. Please discuss these possibilities with your urologist and check which ones have been ruled out in your case. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn My ob/gyn thought it was UTI but urine lab tests showed no infection. She told me to see a urologist. He put me on Vesicare. but i do not have "urgent" intermittant feelings of voiding. I have ALL THE TIME 24/7 pressure and pain to urinate. I DO NOT have leakage. Please help. thank you and God bless you.
Avatar f tn Has antone had a cysto done for urinary retention? I had a uti 3 weeks ago (which has since healed) but ever since I've had retention anywhere from 50-200cc post void. the urologist suggested a cysto I'm concerned that the irritation from surgery would make things worse. Does anyone have any insight?
Avatar n tn Are you drinking 2 to 3 liters of water daily or have you been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection? If you cannot void at all, your urologist may have you self cath for a period of time. If you could provide more information, perhaps our suggestions would not have to be so general. Good luck.
Avatar n tn You need to call your doctor if you experience fever, excessive bleeding, urinary retention, or testicular pain. Blood clots can block the flow of urine, causing urinary retention. Your bladder may need to be washed out to remove the clots. As, you already have got your bladder irrigated, there is nothing to worry. Do not remove the catheter until the colour of urine changes or until your doctor advises.
560501 tn?1383612740 t test for, did you try antibiotics to see if that helps? I found no relief from anything and I had urinary urgency and retention, the sensation of not emptying my bladder properly either. My Urologist believes my problems are a combination of both urological and neurological but I haven't been back to the neuro since I seen the uro, so it will be interesting to see what he has to say. I still have some spasms and some discomfort but not to the extent of before.
Avatar f tn Just want to add that frequency, retention seem to be lumped together under urinary incontinence in stuff I've read. I didn't think anything of the first two issues - not really thinking they were that abnormal - until a one off (so far lol) occurrence of the third lead me to read up on it. Called it in and next day got call that neuro wanted 3 mris - and I am not even dx'd - so apparently they take urinary stuff pretty seriously!! So please do share with your neuro.
Avatar n tn Hi, If you are retaining urine in your bladder, it’s probably due to some obstruction inthe urinary tract which could possibly be due to the urethral stricture or due to the enlarged prostate. I don’t think catheterizing oneself is a good idea as it’s not only uncomfortable but also significantly increases the chnaces of introducing the infections in the urinary tract resulting in more problems.
Avatar n tn Im not quite sure about this cocodamol, but alot of medications etc can cause problems with urination, mostly problems like urinary retention - where the bladder can become so extended and needs just an in out catheter to release it, or a subpubic catheter wich is more permanent. Its more likely to effect the elderly more, but i myself have had troubles with meds and urinary retention. Hope i have helped out at all.
