Vesicare not working

Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare not working

vesicare

Has anyone ever had this happen to them, where the Vesicare stopped working? Should I go back to my urologist I dont know what to do. OMG! I am soooooo sick of going to Dr's. Almost every week its 2-4 doc app, on top of the balance therapy. Help!
Do you have an idea of why the Vesicare stopped working. My sis says its probably cause I have ms. Well I cant wait to see what my uro says about it. The docs seem to tell me one thing about my problems but then gives my neuro a different explanation, and I look like a hypocondriac (is that how you spell it) Also, I was dx with PsuedoTumor Cerebri, after they did the LP.
It is such a fantastic feeling to have no pain, minimal spasms and minimal burning, I feel so good, it is like someone has given me a million dollars, it is wonderful to feel good, not be in pain, chronic ongoing pain is quite depressing and can affect your life and what you do in a big way. Urgency was no fun either.
Oh how sorry I am that the bladder urgency is back as well as the spasms. I do not know a lot about Vesicare but just thinking out loud.......I wonder if it helps with the burning because it helps with the urgency and perhaps (some leakage) and urine is / can be quite acidic /irritating and that may be what is causing the burning in the private parts. While you are taking it the sx go away because you no longer have the urgency / spasms??? so no leakage = no burning??
) I do apologize that I do not have any info on the bladder issues. ARe you saying that the Vesicare IS working for you? Sorry you still have no dx and playing the Limbo Game. So take a break if you need to from the Neuro's, get your Mo-jo back on and then hopefully you will present w/ more clinical signs as well as some other findings. if you do have MS...It is going to eventually show.
Hello everyone, 25/M About a year ago I began experiencing some strange sensations which I sometimes have trouble finding the words to describe, but their presence is definitely there regardless. In a nutshell my symptoms seem to be fatigue, lightheadedness, "brain fog", trouble focusing, numbness and generally just feeling disconnected. I'm "not there" so to speak, both physically and mentally.
a very caring guy. My roommate has knowledge of its effects from people she knows, and says not to take it. I got an e-mail from my MS nurse today, telling me that she called Amantidine in to my pharmacy, and to take 100 mg. twice daily, and let her know how it works. My roommate said "Don't pick it up, they'll reshelf it." Do I call my pharmacist and e-mail my MS nurse, saying I don't want to risk new side effects and interactions with everything else I have going on?
No urgency (meaning I could hold it if I had too) but just frequent trips to the bathroom. No real pain or anything. I have an underlying anxiety disorder that is not controlled and I did start to panic about these symptoms which in turn probably made them worse. So after about 5 days I went to the Uro, no UTI, Urinalysis' was clear so they put me on Vesicare on 10/12.
I'll be 46 at the end of this month & just moved to a new state so I don't have the luxury of knowing any doctors. In the last 1-2 months I suddenly gained 40 + lbs & look pregnant. That seems to be where the weight all is. A urinalysis proved negative for pregnancy on Monday & with my 3 grown kids I did not gain this much weight &/or so fast. I just look pregnant & feel "full - heavy - tired & short of breath" most of the time.
He told me it sounded like I have an over active bladder and gave me a prescription for Vesicare. For the longest time the medication was working until about 6-7 months ago when I ended up with back to back UTI's. Ever since I had the UTI's the Vesicare quit working. I am to a point where I'm not sleeping properly. For example I can try to fall asleep around 10pm but I will end up being awake until 3am or later all because I'm up and down going to the bathroom.

4)mg but the urge to urinate was there all the time so my doctor added (Vesicare 5mg). It was good for few weeks but then the urge got stronger and I was again given Bactrim DS for 4 weeks and now even with Bactrim DC I am not feeling any better. Few days back the doctor increased the dose of Floamx to 0.8 mg and stopped the Vesicare. It did not help and the urge to urinate is there all the time and there is tightness in the bladder. I also took Celebrex for few days and it helped a little bit.
He gave me trails of Vesicare and Toviaz, The vesicare did somewhat calm my urgency but my not frequency still getting up during the night. Toviaz did not help at all stopped taking it. Anyway for the last week and a half i have little symptoms. i also noticed the more water i drink the more i do pee the less i drink the better i am, i am not taking any meds for ic just sticking with the diet.
I am on Vesicare for bladder issues and Gabapentin for nerve pain, both drugs seem to be working well but since I have been on the Vesicare I am so, so, constipated. I know that it affects your muscles and it seems to have stopped the horrible bladder spasms and urgency and burning sensations I was having but now I can't seem to go and use my bowels. I drink over 8 glasses of water per day, I exercise, I eat all bran (full of fibre) for breakfast, I have my daily intake of fruit incl.
I have been diagnosed with Overactive bladder and have been taking Vesicare. The medication has been working fairly well however, after intercourse I experience pain, pressure, itching and urgency for about 2 to 3 days. Eventually I go back to normal. This is causing a problem in my relationship. Please help if you can. I have read on line that this is not uncommon. What can I do to help my situation.
can you rectify this? Also, it is not an encouragement to go on the undiagnosed community when one keeps getting huge pop ups there... is this only temporary? Thanks for listening.

She suggested that it is a medication that works in the urethra and would not have the same side effects of vesicare and that I would know if it was working in one week. She did not appear however to be able to give an indication as to whether this medication would require to be used in the long term or whether it could lead to a resolution of the difficulties.
Hmmm, now that I just looked at this, it seems like the Vesicare isn't really working. I only take 5 mg a day. He wanted me to take 10 mg, but it made my mouth way too dry.
Direct examination (DRE, etc) is done to determine if the prostate is enlarged or not. The cause of an overactive or irritable bladder is not fully understood. The bladder muscle seems to become overactive and contract when you do not want it to. Symptoms may get worse at times of stress, by caffeine in tea, coffee, cola and by alcohol. Treatment with bladder training often cures the problem. Sometimes medication may also be prescribed. Take care and best regards.
When I wake up from nap or from night when I move the pattern of where my hand last was, leaves like a moving pattern when I put my hand down. Hard to explain, I know. Vesicare stopped working, only seemed to work for a few months. Everything came back, frequencey, not being able to hold, and not being able to go, pain burning, pressure, leakage, all back. He put me on an anti-depressant that is supposed to be able to help tighten the muscle or something with a low dose.
This can be a very cruel disease. It has taken a lot from me and I am NOT a better person for it. Yeah, I was NOT receptive to any Pollyanna talk. (simpering voice, " Well at least you had two weeks of feeling better...blah, blah" . Me - "Oh, Sit On It!) I saw my neurologist on Monday - 4 days ago. Simultaneously the weather turned to our usual fall stuff, days in the 60's to early 70's, occasional showers, lots of sun. The day I saw him I felt enormously better.
Hey for the past while my mouth is always like dry feeling...Not just dry tho but i always have the urge to drink water and alot of it I can drink a whole 16 oz of water in one drink cause im always just soo thirsty! And i drink about 6 of them a day. I just always have this dehydrated dry feeling but i know im not cause ive been drinking so much water in the past 6 months i could fill up a small pond with it all so theres no way i could really be dehydrated right?! Does MS cause dehydration?
and stick to a diet. which I have. I also take prelief elmiron isn't working fast enough so doctor gave me vesicare to try. I been taking it for 8-9 days now I was on rimission for about a week until today. I had the worst bladder fullness and presssure. everytime I go to the bathroom alot of urine comes out.
i had turp opp 3 weeks ago to day, i am not seing eney more blood but at the end of passing urin it is so painfull i fill like im going to pass out at times. is this nomall. my doctoc as givin me some antibotics but still hurting alot.
It is not painful, just annoying or weird, certainly not pleasant that's for sure. It is incredibly hot here, I have not known it to be so hot in a long, long time, so perhaps this is what has triggered it. I have also had pins and needles that started in my legs and moved up to my torso, some muscle cramping/spasms and burning sensations, but that seems to be coming right now and I had a headache with that so I wonder if it was migraine, it lasted a couple of weeks but is getting better.
Hi thanks again for the info, I have upped the Vesicare and today I have no bladder spasms (but sometimes that's the nature of the complaint), so it's a bit early yet to assume that is working. I am not going back on the Gabapentin yet as I can tolerate the pins and needles at the moment and I don't think the Gabapentin has any real use in treating spasms.
I am glad your TM has not turned to MS but I am sorry to hear about your bladder issues, not much fun, I was on Vesicare and it made me so dry and constipated but it did help the situation heaps. Just wanted to say "hello" Cheers, Udkas. Hope everything else is okay.
