Vesicare and urinary tract infections

Common Questions and Answers about Vesicare and urinary tract infections

vesicare

Avatar m tn It can be due to many reasons which can be physiological or disease-related, and include excessive intake of liquids, diuretic substances (including tea, caffeine, alcohol, certain drugs), anxiety, exposure to cold, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus (central or nephrogenic), urinary tract infections or obstruction, etc to name a few more common ones.
Avatar f tn 90 percent of UTI’s are from E. coli. D’Mannose attaches to E. coli in the urinary tract and takes it with it when you urinate. When I have a UTI I take one pill at least every 2 hours for about a week instead of having to take antibiotics nonstop. That doesn’t treat the cause, but deals with the infection part. Now, for the diagnosis. Have you looked into interstitial cystitis? It is a possibility.
Avatar f tn How do you tell the difference between a urinary tract infection and yeast infectiy?
Avatar f tn Have you had any dg. tests done? CAT scan or X-rays of the urinary tract? Your problem sounds like an abacterial cystitis, where the bladder gets irritated/inflamed. I'd wait about a week or two, take Ibuprofen which is NSAID, and drink LOTS of water. If you tolerate cranberry juice you could try that as well but I'm guessing it'll make your pain worse.
Avatar f tn I had no pain or burning during urination. However, I tested positive for a urinary tract infection and began on pyridium and bactrim. My symptoms did not improve so I began on Levaquin for 10 days. Since then I have had an ultrasound of my kidneys, ovaries, and bladder, and everything was normal. My labwork was also normal. My symptoms did not improve and I began on Vesicare, which did not help, and now I am on Detrol LA. This does not seem to be helping either.
Avatar n tn Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats). Most urinary tract infections do not involve crystals and can be successfully treated with antibiotics.
Avatar n tn itchiness is usually yeast, but the burning could be a urinary tract infection. is the burning internal or external???
721523 tn?1331581802 I saw the urologist today and he wants me to try VESIare for a few weeks to see if it helps with post-void bladder spasms. It actually has a heat warning on it and a warning about not taking it if yo are not enmptying your bladder. I am scheduled for the urodynamics test in 2 weeks. What do all of you think about this?
Avatar n tn I have been to the doctor several times with urinary tract infections. I was hospitalized a year ago with kidney stones, kidney infection, urinary tract infection, and an infected gallbladder that had to be extracted. I cannot seem to get rid of the urinary tract infections as I have had treatment 7 times now within one year. I drink the pure cranberry juice as I have heard it helps fight off and prevent UTI's. Nothing seems to work.
Avatar m tn My questions are is there such a thing as a hypersensitive urinary tract and prostate? And 2. What can be done to improve this. A certain vitamin or mineral? Saw Palmetto? Lots of Vitamin D? I am low on Vit. D and for sure, my hormone level is low according to recent tests. Thanks so much.

Avatar f tn I just had a cystoscopy for a ureteral stent implant and a foley catheter put in on 04-Sept-2010. My Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL rock-shock) on 02-Sept-2010 didn't work on a 5x9 ureteral stone causing colic. The cysto was quite mutilating (I'm sure superficially), it left me with a very irritating blood squirting cath setup (19 French), but with the anotomical difference of the male urethra I'm sure that's very common.
Avatar f tn Fever may accompany most infections including infection of the urinary tract. However, if fever is present a kidney ( upper urinary tract) infection needs to be ruled out. Any other associated symptoms like nausea and vomiting?
Avatar f tn I have a question for those of you with urinary tract problems. I have had several UTIs and seem to be retaining urine. Also, my bladder and kidneys hurt. As many of you know, I do have Lupus. The question I have is should I be going to a urologist? I have talked to my GP about this and I have even mentioned being tested for Lupus Nephritis, but he just tells me that anytime he has checked my kidneys they have been fine.
622940 tn?1252515107 Blood in urine might occur due to infection to glomerulus, stones in the urinary tract and some urinary tract infections. Where as presence of protein indicates damages to the tubular apparatus of the nephron. Proteinuria can be present in cases of nephrotic syndrome, kindney failure, pyuria, chronic infections etc. Both the symptoms occur due to damaging two different parts of the nephron, but these symptoms can occur simultaneously.
Avatar n tn Hopefully they gave her something other than amoxicillin because that anti-biotic takes a while to work and get rid of infections, but it does work. If an infection is not taken care of, with anti-biotics, it can spread, which is why I mentioned the kidneys. Though because she is being treated, it should not be anything to worry about. Make sure she takes all of the anti-biotics and she should be fine. Plus have her drink plenty of water and also cranberry juice.
Avatar n tn I am a 23 year old female who has the constant urge to urinate on and off for two months now. Various doctors have checked for a UTI and there is none. I have been on macrobid, vesicare and now I'm on flavoxate. Each of these medicines have worked for about a week and then I get the constant urge to urinate again. I just started the flavoxate and I have not gotten any relief. I'm not in any pain, but the constant urge to urinate seems painful and is affected my daily life greatly.
Avatar n tn As your symptoms suggest of burning sensation while passing urine, it is more commonly due to urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases. Because kidney and ureter stones are accompanied by pain that goes upto the loin. There could also be changes in the stream of urine. Is this the first time you are having this? Or previously suffered from same kind of symptoms? In any case it is advised to get a urine examination done and an ultrasound.
