vesicare and incontinence

GP has put me on Vesicare 5mg. It is to help my incontinence. Anyone else taking this? How is it?

I was put on Vesicare 5 mg daily and also was taking fluoxetine for depression and anxiety over this condition. After taking the meds for awhile my symptoms went away and I was symptom free for 3 years. Because of the expense of the vesicare and because I was doing so well. I decided to stop taking both medications. My bladder was fine and normal and then about a year later the symtoms came back. So I am now back on the vesicare and the fluoxetine.

I have been on Ditropan, then Ditropan XR (or EX, don't remember which is correct) and after about 10 years that didn't work, so my doctor put me on Enablex and that works pretty well. Then I got a new Dr. and he wanted to switch me to Vesicare. That didn't work well, either, and I began having episodes of incontinence and urgency again. It's almost open enrollment for Medicare Part D, and the plan that is the most affordable otherwise doesn't cover Enablex at all anymore.

Hmm Down side of Vesicare is an EXTREME dry mouth and I mean extreme but it does get better and now for me EXTREME constipation, I have been on it for about 5mths and I was warned by both the neuro and the uro that it can affect this part of my body, but I also think i have loss of some function there too which wouldn't help.

The treatment of urgency incontinence usually consist of Estrogen vaginal cream, avoidance of foods and drink that cause bladder irritation, urgency suppression techniques, and medication. He does not relish the idea of an artificial sphincter, but that is the only option his urologist has offered. My husband has, primarily, stress incontinence. He urinates many times a day and usually a couple of times during the night. He seldom--if ever--has the problem of feeling an urgent need to get to the bathroom. His urologist prescribed VESIcare, but it did not seem to help. He is having a great deal of irritation, redness, and sometimes a rash on the scrotum from leakage.

I just want to fix the burning feeling I have and the spasms.. oh and the incontinence would be a bonus too but that is not my major issue, well not this week anyway. I will look up Enablex, our drugs here are different from some of yours..

For the second time I woke up and found I had lost bladder control. This time it was a flood. how common is this? If that spinal tap comes back clean I won't know what to think. Since I have been off of the Betaseron I have had some symptoms reappear. I know DMD's are not supposed to take care of symptoms but the Beta helped me. I am so frustrated! I am going to Wal Mart to buy a water proof pad for my bed. Is there anything else that can cause this? A pinched nerve?

The major one was abdominal cramping. I also have long standing urological problems and Vesicare was causing problems in that area as well. Headaches could have been part of it as well. The drug was tried on June 12, 2008 and even has one Rep on it. I have most of the bottle left. I will never try it again. All the best.

Last year when I was having your problem only with more severe leaking, I went through Incontinence Physical Therapy - ordered by my Uro-Gyencologist. It helped me IMMENSELY and kept me leak free for about six months. However, my incontinence got worse and now I am incontinent all the time.

I have been diagnosed with an over-active bladder which causes incontinence and pain after urination.A urologist has prescribed medication containing Tolterodine tartrate.Should I be taking this if I am already on medication for Atrial Fibrillation?Thanks.

I'm using Vesicare and Lyrica and I just got my urinalysis result and they're normal. Can Vesicare and Lyrica affect urinalysis? Are they antibiotics?

Now after looking inside my bladder and not seeing any abnormalities, my urologist prescribed Vesicare and sent me on my way. This would all be great except Vesicare doesn't do a darn bit of good. Does any of this sound familiar to any of you? This urge to pee is driving my CRAZY!!!! All advice is welcome!!!!

i have to pee every 5 mins. wen i try to get a good night sleep i have to wake up every 30 mins to pee sometimes i wet myself. even in public i wet myself. it's so embarassing! but it comes and goes. also when i pee it feels like an orgasm and wen i'm done i feel like i've got to go again. any suggestions???

I have since urinated 3 times with no warning or control. My surgeon says the sling is too tight and wants to go in and cut the sling. He tells me I am in the 1% of women for whom the sling fails. Do I need a second opinion or is this a normal problem.

t thrilled w/ the doctor in general but she said it was just anxiety and stress. I decided for a 2nd opinion at a urologist and she agreed stress was the biggest culprit but thinks I could also have an OAB. Mind you I had a clean UTI at all the doctors, a good exam at my gyn but she sent me for ultrasound which was normal, and I had blood work done for all things including diabetes. Although my glucose came in at 101 and under 99 is the norm it wasn't cause for concern.

which meant I had to return to my urologist....He gave me elmiron and vesicare to treat the IC....the Elmiron never helped my pain and, the Vesicare took my blood pressure from 113/72 pulse 68 to 153/103 pulse 122...I contacted my urologist and, he stated...that's not true ... neither of these meds would cause your blood pressure to go up...well, I called him back four days later...

My symptoms did not improve and I began on Vesicare, which did not help, and now I am on Detrol LA. This does not seem to be helping either. I am continuing to urinate 20-30 times a day. I'm in my late 50's now but always had frequency/urgency and sometimes even incontinence (from urgency). Once I starting working I also sought drugs to help with that problem. Recently I've been getting UTI's that really never go away despite antibiotics so the urologist scheduled me for a cystoscope which is a camera on a thin wire used to view the bladder. Turns out he couldn't even do it because my urethra was too narrow.

I kept with the Vesicare and when we came back I was pretty depressed to be home and had maybe 2-3 days within 2 weeks I had "issuses" of frequency lasting a few hours but then they went away. As of last Mon 11/1, after 3 weeks on the Vesicare and after being home for 2 weeks Iam 100% back to normal and I can't tell if it's from the Vesicare or because the anxiety from the trip has finally faded out of my body as well as the depression from having to come back home.

He simply suggested I continue with the kegel exercises, prescribed Vesicare and Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine), and asked to see me again in 3 months. Seems evident to me that some type of nerve damage is involved. Next month I plan to see the urologist who treated me for BPH and I'm going to see if there are any tests that might help identify the specific problem. If I find any helpful info in the meantime, I'll post it here.

Hi Guys, I just wondered if anyone on this forum takes tablets for bladder urgency or incontinence? And if you do, what do you take? How does it make you feel and is it effective? Or do you have any other solutions?

Hello, Fatigue and dry mouth and dyspepsia are frequent side effects of Vesicare but it is unlikely to cause any sore throat. Your sore throat can be due to some viral infection. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.

Can I take effexor with Flomax and vesicare as I had anxiety disorder and use to take effexor before but stopped it about 1 year back. Now I am having a lot more anxiety due to my present condition. After stopping the Vesicar I am feeling the urge to urine all the time and i have to use to wash room every hour. Should I start 5mmg Vesicare again?

Or, I may be having the increase in symptoms due to new spinal cord lesions. The incontinence and weakness are almost surely due to spinal cord involvement. I suspect that if my MRI is stable - like it always is - he will say that all my problems are due to other factors. I disagreed with a couple things he said and this irritated him a little, but did not color his interactions with me. I also asked him the question about Autonomic Nervous System involvement in MS.
