I cant take Effexor xr anymore due to the cost, so the dr is switching me to Celexa, Im very scared about this since the two dont work the same and im deeply depressed right now..Most meds make me sedated since Im so sensitve, I dont want to be like that again, I just got a new job.....

You may want to switch that generic Venlafaxine to Effexor XR and perhap talk to you doc about adding Lithium. Good thing about Lithium is even if you don't have Bi-polar, it will still help a lot as an add on medication for your Effexor XR. Generic Venlafaxine has no sustained release properties to it. This can pose a problem because it has such a short half life as atidepressants go. making the switch to Effexor XR and adding Lithium should make a world of difference.

Been on Effexor XR for maybe 4yrs and recently rec. venlafaxine instead via mailorder. I assumed Effexor XR must have just gone generic. I have been on venlafaxine for about 3 weeks and just do not feel "right". Very tired- especially around 2-3 pm and started gaining weight again. If you do try Effexor XR....DO NOT GET THE GENERIC VENLAFAXINE! Big difference in terms of the release mechinism. Venlafaxine hits too hard too fast because it has no slow release property like Effexor XR has.
