Avatar f tn Venlafaxine (Efexor) is used to treat anxiety - I have been on this medicine for 8 years and it works for me. Do remember though that it can take up to 4 weeks before you notice a positive change when starting up on Venlafaxine..

Avatar f tn So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a
1110049 tn?1409402144 This makes a big difference because Venlafaxine (Generic) has a very fast onset of release which may excite anxiety in some people prone to anxiety. Effexor XR has a much slower release and avoids this spike with it's extended release properties. Venlafaxine also has a pretty short half life also, which is why Effexor was designed with this slow release effect. This effect eliminates the spikes and fast drops from the drug in Effexor XR which is Venlafaxine.

Avatar f tn I've had severe anxiety for a while, it's to the point where it's hard to go anywhere, I always seem to end up panicking; even when at home sometimes. I can't remember the last time I've gone a whole day without having a panic attack. My doctor recently put me on 75mg Venlafaxine and I now wake up in the middle of the night (I tak my meds in the morning) in a panic. I'd like to know if this is normal? And if Venlafaxine really helps with anxiety?
Avatar n tn Does anyone take an anxiety medicine?.....My regular physician mentioned some, one was called Venlafaxine, another was Adavant?? (think that's it), that would be an option, but I haven't tried either yet, and he hasn't prescribed one....But those were a couple of the choices....
1056851 tn?1318720978 Hi Mustang, I was on a course of this 7 years ago for depression and anxiety-related issues (I have had OCD since I can remember and it gets more intense if I become depressed). It was very effective after some time but I remember that the side-effect for me of nausea and vertigo a short while after taking the tablet was horrific as it lasted up to an hour at a time. However, the positive was that it kept improving and it went all together after 3 weeks or so.
Avatar f tn Even new therapists have told me it is known for having bad side effects. The problem, really, is that its about the ******* money to some of these 'doctors.' They get paid by pharmaceutical companies to push certain medications. Effexor, or Venlafaxine is supposed to be for both anxiety and depression. For me, I'll say it did help with anxiety, but did absolutely nothing for depression, and as I said before it made me sweat like crazy. And withdrawal was awful.
Avatar f tn I just found out a friend has been on the medicine venlafaxine for the highest dosage and his psychiatrist put him on abilify too recently. What does this imply? He has schizophrenia? He's a psycho? Any thought would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn I'm on venlafaxine 75 mg and bromazepam 3mg. Can i use activated charcoal to reduce intestinal gas?
Avatar f tn //www.medhelp.org/posts/Depression/is-generic-venlafaxine-the-same-as-effexor/show/1094320 I emailed my doctor to swap me over to the Brand Name Effexor no matter what it costs and I'm hoping he is okay doing so. I will let everyone know how this all turns out! The sad fact now is that after all these turn of events, my fiancé is content with just one baby. I know its because of all that I've put him through and I really want another one in a few years.
Avatar f tn adverse effects related to effexor(venlafaxine) are nausea, somnolence, sweating dizziness, anxiety, sexual disturbances and hypertension
1709162 tn?1314084832 The increased anxiety is probably causing the lump in your throat. The meds are probably causing the increased anxiety. When starting most SSRI's there is a chance of increased anxiety. It may take a month or so to settle down. It usually decreases gradually until one day you realize it's gone! Good luck.
20867265 tn?1552026340 I've been taking Effexor/Venlafaxine since I was 23 (I'm going to be 30 in May). The medication was prescribed to me when I was still diagnosed as having Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). However, when I was 27, I got the diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder instead and that resonated a lot more. I noticed that my mental health improved quite considerably after that diagnosis and once I was put on mood stabilizers. My psychiatrist didn't take me off the antidepressants however.
Avatar f tn I was recently withdrawn from Venlafaxine 300mgs. bd and had a rough time with sweats and feeling freezing along with nervous system side effects. My GP prescribed me Duloxitine 20mgs. a couple of weeks ago but they didn't appear to be making any difference so I stopped them a week ago. My sister has depression and takes Amitriptylline with good effect. Do you think I ought to request the same from my GP?
Avatar m tn Please help. I have stopped taking 300mg of venlafaxine for 15 days today and I cannot take the pain or side effects.
Avatar f tn A study released in May 2010 by the Canadian Medical Association Journal suggests use of venlafaxine doubles the risk of miscarriage. Consequently, venlafaxine should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed. Prospective studies have not shown any statistically significant congenital malformations. There have, however, been some reports of self-limiting effects on newborn infants.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I woke up yesterday morning with numbness all over left side of face and a slight droop. Saw neurologist today who said there was a small palsy there probably brought in by fatigue. He said steriods wouldn't be useful and prescribed me Venlafaxine for the fatigue. Upon reading dosage, instructions etc it looks like it is precribed for anxiety and deepression. Has anyone else been prescribed this for any other reason? I am not depressed or anxious but very fatigued...... Sharon.
