Avatar n tn i've been experiencing a crazy itch around my lips. It's so bad that i once bled all around. i honestly do not know what it is. It's been like this for three months, basically the whole winter, and i thought that was the problem but if it was then i'm sure my lips would of healed by now. I HAVE used vaseline. I've used everything... blistex, vaseline, cortisone, burts bees, everything you name it. i am not sexually active.. i look like a clown. do i have herpes or something?
Avatar f tn i went to see skin doctor and he said its nothing to do with allergy since i never had allergy problem before. i had apply lip balm with SPF continously, but my lips' skin is not improving at all. i have to peel it off everyday and this make me very terrible..i never had this problem on my lips before..wish that someone can help me. thanks.
Avatar n tn s lip balm with SPF 15 to help protect your lips from direct heat and UV. Other lip balm or lip moisturizers with SPF may also help. There is no definite treatment for dark lips although micropigmentation which is used to apply permanent colors on the lips, eyes and eye brows may be used to bring color to the lips. This is more extensive and entails more risks but may give more dramatic and long lasting results.
Avatar m tn Well on my upper lip not my lip but my upper lip i got raw flaky red skin i had it for about 7 months now, I tried everything too heal it and it seems like nothing works? Even topical gel,When i take a shower it gets dry real fast. All i can do is use moisturizer too help it. When my skin heals it cracks and falls off, It does the same routine every time for the past 7 months. And it does not ITCH or anything and its not eczema!
Avatar n tn Hello. My toddler has a chapped lip too, just the upper middle part. It's been chapped for 1 mo. Dr. said it is NOT herpes, just chapped. Carmex turned her into lip balm addict. She pick constantly just to get more. Then I read about the camphor in it and pharmastist said NOT to use it for chapped lips b/c it's really desgined to dry out cancer soars, which she doesn't have. Pharmastist and Dr. both rec. vaseline -- white pet. jelly.
Avatar f tn Use Vaseline instead of chap stick on your lips if it is splitting. Its a lot stronger than chap stick and will protect the cut. And drink a lot of water.
18471869 tn?1469397785 Lips have become dark and scabby when dry for about 3 wks now. I have medicated lip balm and HPlecern and been using for about a week. When I am out in sun and for get to put chapstick with spf my lips are dry and itchy for the next few days, howerever this time it has become dark and scabby on top and bottom lips in the center. I played Volleyball for a couple hours about 2 weeks ago. So I'm thinking this isn't related to being in the sun.
10843549 tn?1425096623 I had the same problem.. i have been using vasaline lip therapy from walgreens.. works wonders.. and it gives you instant relief.. Hope this helps..
Avatar f tn I did recently purchase a SPF 45 lip sunscreen that is free of a lot of chemicals I did use it 3 or 4 times and my lips were fine but then a few days later they flared up. Can you have delayed allergic rx? The other times they happened pretty quick. I'm wondering if I dont have a allergic rx and it's just too much sun with no sunscreen.. I wonder if it's some kid of fever blisters that just last long and look different. Any suggestions? I need answers..
Avatar f tn It gets embarrassing sometimes, because people point out the red ring around my mouth. Quite often. Does anybody know a brand of lip therapy that actually WORKS, or have another suggestion? Thanks!
Avatar n tn I have never had a problem before but about three weeks ago my lips felt like they were getting chapped so I used lip balm , vaseline, estee lauder lip renue, but they are still chapped they feel dry and somewhat itchy. have been using neosporin lip therapy since yesterday and they fell better when it is on but back to dry the minute it wears off! They dont seem to be getting better.
Avatar f tn About 12 days ago I noticed my bottom lip started to swell. I had just used a new lipstick, the kind that stains the lips then you put on a clear coat. I have been using this type for many months. The lip was stinging, & burning along with the swelling. I also thought this was a reaction to some antibiotics I was on. I have never had this happen before. Now, 12 days later my lips are not swelled but they still have blisters that burn, even water from the shower burns them.
Avatar n tn Applying protective paraffin-based ointment (such as Vaseline) or lip balms to the lips is normally very effective. Also take Vitamin B supplements. Let us know if you need any other information. Regards.
Avatar f tn I think I got two cuts on my lips too so I have been trying to keep them covered from my cold sore with vaseline. I apply abrevia and vaseline to the sore multiple times every day. When I woke up this morning, I noticed little bumps on my bottom lip. They aren't red or white, they just blend in with my lip. They are visible if you look and feel them though. I have read that it could be because my chap stick is old.
Avatar n tn Im 22 and ive been having this lip peeling problem for about a year now, an the lip is dry and its peeling but it never bleeds...the thing thats worrying me, is that the skin under the peeling skin looks scally..an its straight dry, anything i put on it (vasiline, chap stick, water..a bunch of stuff from the doctor) it seems like it jus ***** it up...im believe its an "alergic reaction" but im want to know if my original skin is gonna grow back?
Avatar m tn If scaling is present, a microscopic examination of the scales may help rule out a fungal infection. Use a lip balm with an SPF of at least 15. Applying lip moisturizer will also help smoothen the lips. The SPF will help prevent further pigmentation or darkening of the lips.
Avatar f tn As long as that Vaseline isn't burning like the other lip balms, do keep trying it- if it doesn't get better, do head to the doctor so they can get a better idea of what the cause is- heal up soon!
Avatar n tn Applying protective paraffin-based ointment (such as Vaseline) or lip balms to the lips is normally very effective. Also take Vitamin B supplements. If nothing works you can have a biopsy done to find out the cause. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapped_lips Some causes of the symptoms you mention, could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection.
Avatar m tn t peel it off, it becomes hard when dry but when I peel it off my lip becomes reddish and inflamed . i have tried so many different lip balms, they only moisturize my lips temporarily, please help help me i don't know what to do with it anymore? Avatar n tn It has happened to me twice before (had used Avon lip balm then) and i applied Smyle herbal gel and Vaseline and it worked. This time though it is not working. I've been applying Smyle gel and Himalaya lip balm to cure it. If I use Nivea lip balm nothing happens though. it feels really nasty without anything on my lips and so I have to keep applying something. Please help...

168348 tn?1379357075 for my scar bcz I always am throwing 30SPF moisturizer lip balm over the thyroidectomy scar .. (keep it in my pocket) so why not do it with Maderma Cream + SPF and see if it helps with the scar ? I'm 1.5yrs post op so I think it'll feel ok to use it .. earlier on it used to burn .. but was too soon after surgery to use the cream I do believe.

Avatar m tn I would try Vaseline at night...I know it sounds gross, but it would be worth a try. Some websites say lip reduction surgery is something they refer to once they know other treatments don't work. Check out this website, it may help: http://exfoliativecheilitis.
