1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry I haven't been online! The surgery has been a breeze but now I've got the flu and have been dead for the past few days. Saw pics of my uterus and there are huge varicose veins all over it! Nasty. We haven't talked about how to deal with them yet because he was more concerned that I was having some complications from the lap. I believe he's looking at trying some pill therapy and going from there.
Avatar f tn This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.
1032669 tn?1252456404 I called my aunt who is an OB Nurse practitioner and she said that it is a vaginal varicose vein that is common with pregnancy (I I never has this before and no varicose veins any where else)..................anyone else have/had this. Avatar m tn Hysterectomy is a grossly overused surgery; only about 10% are necessary. The uterus, ovaries and tubes work together and have LIFELONG functions so you don't want to lose any of them unnecessarily. I had a hysterectomy and it's been the surgery that keeps on giving problem after problem despite the fact that my surgery was considered "successful" / no surgical complications. Best of luck to you! Please post back and let us know what you find out. Hoping for good news!
Avatar f tn This knot appears where I have varicose veins. (The varicose veins are non pregnancy related) I now prop a pillow behind me to prevent this happening. I know that the growing uterus puts pressure on the main artery when you're laid on your back and this in turn stops the blood flowing back up to your heart as easily. My legs also ache nearly all night long, it's driving me mad! Anyone else have anything similar?
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
Avatar f tn yes ~ I have had my organs glued together 3 times thanks to endometriosis...I would NOT let them remove everything (ovaries, uterus and so on) I allowed this and still had endo...so the second to times of my organs gluing together was after they removed my female organs...I have now lost all my female organs, appendix, 1/2 my colon, my gallbladder, part of an adrenal..it's been on my ureters, diaphragm, bladder, bowels....and all this AFTER they removed my female organs...
Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
1580703 tn?1651904887 If you have varicose veins in your legs can you also have them in your head or lungs? what is the best treatment? laser, radio, surgery?
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
Avatar f tn It doesn't sound like either condition would make you infertile. I also would be surprised if a doctor was going to do a scan and then make you sit 40 weeks on a waiting list to discuss the scan results. You might call in and ask that question specifically. Avatar m tn Varicose veins are in some cases unavoidable. Many times, there are ways to naturally prevent and soothe them. Get plenty of exercise to get your blood circulating, Elevate your legs on pillows daily for 10 minutes or more, Avoid excess weight gain, Dry-brush your legs daily to improve circulation. (This can prevent varicose veins from forming.) Use a natural-bristle brush with a long handle that allows you to reach all parts of your body.
Avatar n tn If the bump is flesh colored and over a vein, it can be just a varicose vein (especially if you have varicose veins on other places on your body). Age is not a factor, from teens to older adults can get varicose veins on the penis or scrotum (and other places). These type of varicose veins can range in size with most the size of a BB or smaller (or bigger). Inspect it closely. If it seems to follow or be "on top" of a vein, this is probably what you have.
Avatar f tn Hello, sorry about he delay in answering your question. Inner thigh pain and groin pain are common with varicose veins. Also, calf pain is included in that. Please see your doctor if you have not already. Let us know if you have seen them and what they have said. Here is an older question about this answered by a MedHelp doctor https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Blood-Disorders/Varicose-veins---inner-thigh-pain-/show/2027668 Here is some basic information on the condition as a whole.
Avatar f tn I'm almost 37 weeks and my fiance was trying to give me the perineam massage (supposed to help with not tearing during labor) and we noticed my veins down there are much much darker.. could they just be varicose veins? I have a doctor's appointment today, but I wanted to see if any other moms to be had this happen..
Avatar n tn This year in May I stopped taking the birth control pills and a couple months later I noticed on my legs bulging varicose veins. The onset seemed to be quite sudden. Could the fact that I stopped taking the birth control pills caused the sudden onset of the varicose veins?
Avatar f tn I have been looking into this a lot myself and found out about spider veins and varicose veins and I think that is what they are. I have just begun a new birth control pill after some problems with my hormone levels and am also on the end of my recent period - could this be causing it? I read that it can if you are on the pill and have imbalanced hormones - such as being pregnant or on your period. Will they fade or disappear when my hormone levels are balanced?

I did some looking online and I'm pretty sure I have a varicose vein :( I don't know what to do.. Should I go to an urgent care or ER or hold it off tilmy appointment Monday? Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pelvic congestion syndrome (varicose veins in my pelvic region) about 2 1/2 years ago. I've been experiencing daily debiliating headaches for about the past year. I've been to two different neurologists, two pain clinics and seen my primary doctor about 15 times. On my last visit with the pain specialist, he asked why no one had pursued the issue of my varicose veins.
554321 tn?1215470569 As your baby grows, pressure from your uterus slows blood flow in your lower body, with the potential to distend veins anywhere below the waist, including your groin. Like varicose veins on your legs, varicosities in your vulva can cause pressure and throbbing. This will resolv eafter the delivery. ref:http://www.melodywarnick.com/clips/your_belowthebelt_guide_to_pre.
Avatar f tn her sister had severe varicose veins. I never did, but I took a lot ofvitamin E in my health nut days (also never had stretch marks). But I was wondering how much pain, written off as fibro, might be vascular? I would guess that people w/EDS might have varicose veins too. Sometimes I feel like that's where pain is, because it'snot in my joints. My veins are very close to the surface. Anyone?
Avatar f tn I wanted to know if varicose veins will diminish after pregnancy especially in genitals?
1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am looking for support for my varicose veins! I have what would be considered a pretty severe case and I'm only 31 and male. I've had them since youth, but after all the chaos in my life in that past 5 yrs, I haven't been in touch with my body as much as usual!
