Avatar f tn This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.
1907180 tn?1329450777 The unfortunate reality is that most pregnant women will have some degree of failure in their leg veins at least during the pregnancy. This is due to multiple factors that all produce challenges. The volume of circulating blood increases substantially. Hormones that allow the uterus to stretch and expand also allow leg veins to do the same, making the valves in these vessels incompetent.
Avatar f tn Hm. Does your leg swell? I personally would take this question to your doctor and make sure all is alright with the veins and circulation.
Avatar f tn Bad various veins early in this pregnancy.... Anyone have ideas to relieve pain?....
Avatar m tn The leg vein issue the way you describe is that of varicose veins. Because you are experiencing pain in the calf muscle, you should make an urgent appointment to see your doctor to rule out deep vein thrombosis. The doctor will listen to the leg and can arrange to get your blood tested with regard to that - this is called a Doppler test. He will also be able to confirm whether it is varicose veins that you have and what can be done about them.
Avatar f tn Oh Im so sorry to say this but unless you have them removed with a laser the swelling will go down after delivery but they will never go away. I got them with my 3rd pregnancy and with my fourth pregnancy they werent that bad and now they hurt and are like bulging out of my skin. I only have them on my right leg but theyre embarrasing.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else suffered from vaginal varicose veins this is my 3rd pregnancy and I'm 27 weeks.
1014822 tn?1338648073 I noticed earlier this week I have developed varicose veins on the back of my left leg in the crease. I will be 28 weeks pregnant tomorrow. It seems since I found it my leg has been sore, achy and tired, especially when I walk. My sister is a nurse and I had her look at it and she said it looks fine but I am concerned about the pain. Has anyone had this happen? I have a dr's appt tomorrow so I hope he can put my mind at ease. I'm a worry wart....

1840402 tn?1355432565 It sure sounds like a varicose vein to me. Unfortunately those are super common during pregnancy. As long as your not feeling pain in your leg I wouldn't worry about it :) You could always call your doctors office just to be 100% Try not to worry, I got them too during my 1st pregnancy.
Avatar n tn i always have pain only on the right side of my prostrate and the right leg and lower right side of my back and hip. the varicose veins are on the right side of my penis to and my right leg behind my nee. i am starting to wonder if my whole problem might be some kind of stricture some were in my pelvis on the right side. and im getting very worried about these varicose veins poping up on my leg does this make any sence to anyone reading this.
Avatar f tn This knot appears where I have varicose veins. (The varicose veins are non pregnancy related) I now prop a pillow behind me to prevent this happening. I know that the growing uterus puts pressure on the main artery when you're laid on your back and this in turn stops the blood flowing back up to your heart as easily. My legs also ache nearly all night long, it's driving me mad! Anyone else have anything similar?
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
Avatar f tn I'm on my 4th pregnancy And I started getting them in my 2nd pregnancy. The veins started to get more visible around my right ankle and I don't know how to explain it but on the back of my right calf I ended up get something looking like a small bunch of grapes due to the veins. And believe me now my veins r so much visible and feel really bumpy and a lot painful. I can't stand for a long periods of time and can't even do do my house chores.

Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I had no idea that this may be due to spasticity. I've had leg spasticity and the varicose veins are getting really bad. I'll mention this to my doctor next time. You are so helpful to this forum!
Avatar f tn Okay so the other night my leg started throbbing :( and it hurts to move my ankle and bend my leg. It hurts to stand or straighten.. I did some looking online and I'm pretty sure I have a varicose vein :( I don't know what to do.. Should I go to an urgent care or ER or hold it off tilmy appointment Monday? What can I do to relieve the pain? Have anyone had one before? Is this a varicose vein? Or you think something else..? Help!
Avatar n tn Thanks, doctornee medical. Wasn't aware varicose veins occurred in the arms. I've added "no veins showing, no discoloration" to my text description, also. Have been checked for diabetes. Am following up on your suggestion of hypothyroidism.
155701 tn?1230047101 When I lean against something (like the bathroom vanity), it feels like a big bruise. These are not spider veins or varicose. They look like normal veins except that they're very noticable and only on the upper region of my right thigh. I wouldn't be worried about them except for the fact that they feel like a bruise. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn My right leg is way more swollen than my left. My Dr is sending me for an ultrasound on both legs to check for blood clot or other issues. IM 20 weeks and 3 days. Anyone else with this issue or been through the same?
927365 tn?1245748499 When I was in my pre school year I've noticed I have a three inches light blue vein on the right side of my knee, at that time I was so conscious about it. But as I grew older i forgot about it, and had been receiving complement for having "beautiful legs", For the past 11 months I've been wearing about 2 to 3 inches shoes, almost 4 x a week. Then just two weeks ago, I've noticed that the light blue veins on my right knee is getting started to protrude..
Avatar m tn The next day I had a huge bruse. This happened agian on my left leg so I went to the doctors as I have a hole in my heart and thought it might have something to do with my circulation...the doctor siad I had vericus veins and as they have told most of you they are not supposed to hurt. WELL MINE DID. So I check to see if my blood was clotting and they siad it was fine and so was my circulation.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum! We're glad you are here and appreciate your question. So, while it may not be a varicose vein, it can still be what they call a 'bulging vein'. " Bulging veins are prominent, enlarged veins that often appear blue or purple. They’re easy to see because they’re superficial veins close to the surface of your skin and typically occur on show up in your legs, feet, ankles and hands.
1580703 tn?1651904887 If you have varicose veins in your legs can you also have them in your head or lungs? what is the best treatment? laser, radio, surgery?
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
