Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
Avatar n tn Pain in the foot may be due to diabetes, nerve root compression, varicose veins etc.You should seek an expert opinion to find out the cause.Unless a physical examination is done it is difficult to comment upon.
Avatar f tn Have you undergone any recent surgery on the right leg, ankle or the foot? Is there any history of varicose veins or defective valves in the leg veins? I hope you are not taking any hormone like estrogens, perimenopausal? This needs urgent attention by a surgeon. Have you been checked for diabetes? It could be an abscess needing urgent drainage. You must go to the emergency room and an urgent x ray done to check for any ankle fracture.
Avatar n tn Hi, You may be having a condition called as varicose veins. This is caused due to defects in the blood return system in the legs and therefore the blood floods the superficial veins of the leg which may cause this development. You may read more about it at: You may have to visit your doctor for more information and diagnosis. However, you must try and watch the skin at the ankles as ulcers may develop at the site. Keep the skin dry and healthy.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.

1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
Avatar f tn I hope I don't get morning sickness again I had that first 5 months. She's putting so much pressure on me I have varicose veins popping out down there too so that makes it so much more uncomfortable. She's been low this whole pregnancy.
Avatar n tn The most common being ill fitting shoes, jobs that require standing for prolonged period of time, varicose veins which can cause peripheral pooling of blood leading to foot swelling and pain. Other causes can be foot injury, peripheral neuropathy, arthritis, obesity, flat feet, callosities and bunions. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Is there any swelling in your affected foot and since when do you have this pain?
Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar m tn If I let a limb dangle, blood pools inside and I feel like the limb is dead almost. My skin constantly feels the veins tugging. What would cause varicose veins to destroy my life like this? They just keep popping up everywhere... I have been to the doctor and taken 5+ blood tests of all sorts, had my heart tested, urine tested, had an abdominal ultrasound, and he found nothing. We've tried nerve medications (lyrica) and had no success.
Avatar f tn The most common causes of edema only in one foot are varicose veins and thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the veins) of the deep veins of the legs. These conditions can cause improper pumping of the blood by the veins and venous stasis. Hence when you walk the circulation is more and hence more pooling. This can be diagnosed by color dopplar or an angiogram. Do consult a vascular surgeon for this. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
1580703 tn?1651904887 If you have varicose veins in your legs can you also have them in your head or lungs? what is the best treatment? laser, radio, surgery?
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
Avatar n tn I have tried the compression stockings and they are giving me some relief for my varicose veins. My legs are swollen as well and there is a reduction in the pain as well. I am also able to do some physical activity where it was too uncomfortable before.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins are in some cases unavoidable. Many times, there are ways to naturally prevent and soothe them. Get plenty of exercise to get your blood circulating, Elevate your legs on pillows daily for 10 minutes or more, Avoid excess weight gain, Dry-brush your legs daily to improve circulation. (This can prevent varicose veins from forming.) Use a natural-bristle brush with a long handle that allows you to reach all parts of your body.
Avatar n tn If the bump is flesh colored and over a vein, it can be just a varicose vein (especially if you have varicose veins on other places on your body). Age is not a factor, from teens to older adults can get varicose veins on the penis or scrotum (and other places). These type of varicose veins can range in size with most the size of a BB or smaller (or bigger). Inspect it closely. If it seems to follow or be "on top" of a vein, this is probably what you have.
Avatar f tn Hello, sorry about he delay in answering your question. Inner thigh pain and groin pain are common with varicose veins. Also, calf pain is included in that. Please see your doctor if you have not already. Let us know if you have seen them and what they have said. Here is an older question about this answered by a MedHelp doctor https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Blood-Disorders/Varicose-veins---inner-thigh-pain-/show/2027668 Here is some basic information on the condition as a whole.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 weeks pregnant, and i have recently noticed varicose veins from my right leg, to my heel. is it normal to feel lots of blood rushing from my knee to my foot? And that being the only spot in either of my two legs. Sometimes my leg hurts so much I can't even walk on it, and other days its fine. I told my doctor and he keeps telling me its a Charlie horse in my leg, and I have had them and it doesn't feel like that , please give me a second opinion!
Avatar f tn I'm almost 37 weeks and my fiance was trying to give me the perineam massage (supposed to help with not tearing during labor) and we noticed my veins down there are much much darker.. could they just be varicose veins? I have a doctor's appointment today, but I wanted to see if any other moms to be had this happen..
Avatar n tn This year in May I stopped taking the birth control pills and a couple months later I noticed on my legs bulging varicose veins. The onset seemed to be quite sudden. Could the fact that I stopped taking the birth control pills caused the sudden onset of the varicose veins?
Avatar f tn This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.
1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
