1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
Avatar f tn Sclerotherapy is another common treatment for both spider veins and varicose veins. In this procedure with the help of a needle a liquid chemical is injected into the vein. This causes swelling in vein and collapsing .This stops the flow of blood, and the vein turns into scar tissue. This procedure can be done without general anesthesia and does not lead to inference in the daily activities. Laser techniques can help in curing small varicose veins. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar f tn org/diseases-conditions/varicose-veins/symptoms-causes/syc-20350643. Basically, weak or damaged valves lead to varicose veins. Being obese is a risk factor and losing weight would likely help a multitude of things in your life. That's never easy but something that would be very beneficial to work on. Sitting for prolonged periods of time also contribute to varicose veins. You are a young man and this should be a priority for your health.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for the question. We're sorry your wife has this concern. This might be varicose veins which is a fairly common condition and usually simply cosmetic rather than of a health concern. Not always though, but often. Here's some information on it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/varicose-veins/symptoms-causes/syc-20350643 An important question is if your wife has any pain or discomfort?
Avatar f tn m 16 wks and idk if I should be in this much pain for anything I did research and there called varicose veins which do happen in pregnant women and ppl who are overweight and main causes are pain in legs and back. I've been resting a lot and putting my legs for about 10 min on my wall with a pillow on my back and that seems to help. Any one else experiencing this? Have you gone to your doctors about it?
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks and recently noticed my vagina is very swollen, especially on one side. From what I've been reading (I have an appointment with my OB early next week) I have vulvar varicose veins. Does anyone else have this or have had them? I'm afraid they will get worse and won't go away.
9023883 tn?1402943375 Just discovered a wonderful case of varicose veins on my labia majora!!! I'm in so much pain and I can barely walk! Any one else experience this and is there any way to relieve the pain???
Avatar f tn Varicose veins in or near the penis is rather rare. The varicose veins themselves are formed mainly in the legs, mostly because the valves in the veins do not function properly. Are you sure it is varicose veins? You may want to read up a bit more about these to ensure your husband has varicose veins - here's a comprehensive resource on vv - http://www.legpain.guide/g/52/ Hope this helps, all the best!
Avatar f tn -) im 29 weeks pregnant today and almost since the beginning of this pregnancy I have been struggling with those horrible varicose veins on my very private parts. Not only it is painful and uncomfortable but I also feel like a complete freak because no other women I spoke with had suffered from them. Am I really the only one here having them?
Avatar f tn t know how to explain it but on the back of my right calf I ended up get something looking like a small bunch of grapes due to the veins. And believe me now my veins r so much visible and feel really bumpy and a lot painful. I can't stand for a long periods of time and can't even do do my house chores. Ended up having a cleaner and also can't live without my compressions they r a life saver.
Avatar f tn If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. Yes, laser is a good option however whether it is good for you or not can be judged by your vascular specialist only. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
Avatar f tn I noticed that after giving birth to my fifth child I developed thick painful varicose veins on both legs. I felt embarrassed because as women we are expected to look beautiful all of the time. I did some research online and I came across USA Vein Clinics. They were able to answer all of my questions. I am usually very careful about having any procedure done but they made me feel safe throughout the whole process. I highly recommend them if you want a permanent solution to your varicose veins.
Avatar m tn Hi, At this point, what you have may be a varicose vein (this is the most likely differential that comes to mind). Varicose veins in the penis rarely involve the head.Varicose veins are simply engorged superficial veins that may be noted even when the penis is flaccid. Without pain, redness, change in urinary pattern ,there seems to be no indication for further intervention. A penile ultrasound may help exclude a blood clot.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your advice. They checked to see if my blood wasl clotting is that what you mean by platelet count? I don't think it's from varicose veins. I had the same feeling agian today it seems when I do alot of physical activity my legs feel like some one is giving them charlie horses?
Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar f tn Hmmm I have never heard of that and now I want to know why and what causes it. I wonder if that is related to adenomyosis. Let me ask around and see what I can find and yay!!! You don't have Endo that is great!
Avatar n tn There are thought to be several hundred perforating veins on each leg. Approximately 35% of women have defective systems of reticular veins in the outer thighs. This appears to be congenital as you either have it or you don't by the time you are about 20 years old. Sclerotherapy where eiter a foam or liquid is injected nto the abnormal vein and scarsthe down isthe current treatment of choice for this.
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn I am now 33 weeks pregnant and getting more and more scared of the delivery as I have bad varicose veins on my right labia. I feel them when I blow my nose and I can't imagine pushing the baby out feeling the veins getting bigger as I push!!!! My GP recommended a C section, which I would love but it's not up to her. The obstetrician will decide. How likely is it for the veins to burst while delivering? What about episiotomy? How can I make sure I can have a C section?
1580703 tn?1651904887 If you have varicose veins in your legs can you also have them in your head or lungs? what is the best treatment? laser, radio, surgery?
Avatar n tn I've been on the Nuva Ring for almost two and a half years. My whole family is very fair-skinned, so I've always had very visible veins my whole life. However, it wasn't until I began the Ring that I noticed my first varicose veins on my right calf. I didn't see the connection at the time, but now it's two years later and the same leg is in so much pain almost regularly, and I'm almost positive it is because of the Ring.
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
