Avatar f tn Vascular disease includes any condition that affects the circulatory system. Vascular disease ranges from diseases of your arteries, veins, and lymph vessels to blood disorders that affect circulation. Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) or Peripheral artery disease (PAD) and atherosclerosis examples of diseases of the blood vessels. They more commonly effect the lower extremities or the heart's circulatory system but they can effect any vessel. Arm Artery Disease effects the hands.
Avatar f tn Did they test your sodium level in your blood or a 24 hour urine test for sodium? What about testing your thyroid function & ADH or antidiuretic hormone, which helps regulate water in your body? Did they do a color doppler on your legs to test circulation? Peripheral vascular disease can affect extremities with pain and swelling. My grandma had PVD. Your heart's okay you say, but what about your triglycerides and cholesterol levels?
155701 tn?1230047101 I wouldn't completely rule out varicose veins because I have read that they can occasionally be painful. If that is the case & a doctor recommends they be treated, a lot of U.S. Medical Insurance plans cover this. I only mention this because I have spider veins (mostly in my right thigh) but they are just ugly, not painful, so the treatment to get rid of them is not covered by insurance.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced a link between Chiari Malformation type 1 and Peripheral Artery Disease? I have been fighting vericose veins for several years, and have not begun to lose hair on my legs.
Avatar f tn It is also possible to have EDS that is not vascular and have some "vascular" symptoms. I have EDS...not vascular and had horrible varicose veins up and down both legs by the age of 20. Just a few years ago I had my veins pulled out and the Dr said that I was 1 of the 3 worst cases he had ever seen and the other 2 were elderly. My skin hurts all the time...even getting a pedicure when they rub your legs hurts.
Avatar f tn The treatment will depend on the severity of disease. If you have multiple varicose veins, then the cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. A duplex ultrasound of the vein will need to be carried out.
Avatar m tn ve had blood, cardio and other tests etc to rule out any other causes eg diabetes, varicose veins, blood clots, lupus, heart related conditions etc etc etc before looking at neurological causation's, from my understanding people with peripheral neuropathy typically describe their pain as a burning sensation, and the most common neurological related causes of a bilateral burning that i'm aware of in both lower limbs are structural spinal issues, eg degenerative disc, stenosis etc If the
Avatar n tn 2mm), raised, red bulging spot on my glans that looks like it is filled with blood, from a scrape or scratch when I was very young. Last year I had sclerosing of varicose veins in my leg, which worked very well. This is purely a vanity question -- might this glans blood spot, not really a vein I'm sure, be amenable to injection with a sclerosing solution (sclerotherapy) to shrink it, or would the risk outweigh the cosmetic benefit?
987762 tn?1671273328 m standing the veins on each side of my ankle have engorged. With varicose veins heat will tend to increase vein distention and lead to more pooling of blood so that makes sense why heat makes this even more unpleasant but I dont have varicose veins in my arms, or visible ones any where, which if this was varicose you'd expect to find some evidence.
571167 tn?1223214465 These meds cause hostility, restlessness, digestive, vascular (varicose veins, hemrhoids, and varicose veins in the scrotum--infertility), urinary, reproductive (impotence), digestive problems, sleeplessness, ticks, stiffness, and more! The bottom line is that the drugs make them money.
8550300 tn?1403393781 It can be due to diabetes, hypothyroidism, peripheral vascular disease, vitamin B12 deficiency or malnutrition. Get your blood flow to extremities checked from a physician. Edema can be caused by a serious condition of the kidney, heart, liver or blood vessels, but many other factors can contribute to its onset, including: Eating a poor diet high in salt and carbohydrates , Abusing laxatives, diuretics, drugs, sodium retention, varicose veins, allergic reactions and neuromuscular disorders.
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks and recently noticed my vagina is very swollen, especially on one side. From what I've been reading (I have an appointment with my OB early next week) I have vulvar varicose veins. Does anyone else have this or have had them? I'm afraid they will get worse and won't go away.
Avatar n tn My mum has pretty bad thread veins and also varicose veins on her legs, I have some small patches of thread veins, and I think I shall get varicose veins when I'm older so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?? Does anyone have any ideas?! Thank you for reading and for any help I get!!
Avatar m tn So I check to see if my blood was clotting and they siad it was fine and so was my circulation. Avatar f tn My veins are very prominent and I had some varicose and ventricular ones on my legs but not to the extent of yours. They never stripped as I caught them early. They did a doplar and then administered saline injections. Once the ventricular veins had collapsed, they used laser for the smaller ones. I go in every few years and have them laser veins that are beginning to show. When My legs ache I wear those "peds" and elevate my feet at home...helps me.
Avatar f tn Either you have high blood pressure or you have an extensive peripheral vascular disease causing thrombosis or clots at various sites. This can be ruled out either by angiograms or by dopplar studies. Diabtees, high cholesterol, thyroid problems etc will also have to be ruled out as a cause of this disorder. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral to a cardiologist or a vacular specialist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar m tn The cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. This is often due to faulty valves of the deep veins or due to deep vein thrombosis too.
Avatar m tn Hello, From your symptoms it looks like spider veins or varicose veins penis. The varicose vein on the penis does not require any treatment. It may bruise during sexual intercourse and thus wearing of a condom is highly recommended. Also use of lubricants is recommended during masturbation or during sexual intercourse to avoid bruising the vein. No other treatment is required. In fact most of the treatment like laser treatment will cause scarring, infection, nerve and vascular damage.
Avatar f tn The sensations of pins and tingling are generally due to peripheral neuropathies or vascular pathologies. Hence peripheral vascular pathologies have to be ruled out either by angiograms or by dopplar studies (though done in your case, they do at times miss important findings). Nerve conduction studies should be done. Vitamin B12 deficiency too should be looked into.
Avatar m tn These include horse chestnut, as mentioned, witch hazel, gota kola, and hot herbs which help circulation, such as cayenne. Varicose veins are caused by weakness in the vascular walls, and these herbs help strengthen them. Many companies make good formulas, including Herb Pharm and Nature's Way. Hey, Deep, stop pushing GNC. They're just not reliable, and you never know what's in their supplements.
1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms may be related to a vascular issue rather than a neurologic one. Specifically, varicose veins can cause a burning or pain in the feet and behind the knees that is felt less during movement. Most often, bulging veins will be visible on the legs. This is more likely if you stand a lot; treatment is with compression stockings, leg elevation, and sometimes there are injection or surgical treatments available.
Avatar m tn m noticing 2 new varicose veins and small purple looking veins throughout my penis. I also noticed minor discomfort and aching on the right side of my penis. The aches and discomfort have gone away but the veins are still there and prominent. I'm wondering if this is inflammation? I have a always had 1 varicose vein on my left side of my penis but the 2 other ones seem new and coily which I have never noticed before.
Avatar f tn Have you undergone any recent surgery on the right leg, ankle or the foot? Is there any history of varicose veins or defective valves in the leg veins? I hope you are not taking any hormone like estrogens, perimenopausal? This needs urgent attention by a surgeon. Have you been checked for diabetes? It could be an abscess needing urgent drainage. You must go to the emergency room and an urgent x ray done to check for any ankle fracture.
Avatar n tn This is a normal finding and nothing to be perturbed about. It may look unsightly and cause stress therefore. Peripheral vascular disease, faulty deep veins’ valves and high blood pressure as the cause would need to be ruled out. Kidney function tests should also be done. A duplex ultrasound of the vein will need to be carried out. You can gently massage the vein in upward direction, towards your shoulder, 2-3 times a day and see if it helps.
