Common Questions and Answers about Varicose veins and clots

varicose-veins

Avatar f tn This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.
Avatar f tn They may be painful and can make your legs feel heavy and achy. The skin around the varicose veins may itch, throb or feel like it’s burning. When clots form in veins near the surface of the body, swelling and redness appear along the affected area of the vein. You may consult a doctor and get your doubts clarified. Don’t cross your legs or ankles while sitting. Avoid sitting or standing for long periods at a stretch. Sleeping on left side, wearing compression stockings may be helpful.
2020005 tn?1628125976 You can get clots. I thought i had one and they did a ultrasound on my leg. The symptoms of a clot however are hot to touch spot on leg, the leg would be noticeably more swollen than the other, and there would be pain in the leg. However, varicose veins can hurt too. I wouldn't worry just have your Dr. look at it. If your leg gets really swollen or starts to have pain call your Dr.
Avatar f tn They’re easy to see because they’re superficial veins close to the surface of your skin and typically occur on show up in your legs, feet, ankles and hands. While bulging veins are usually harmless, they can be a sign of a more serious problem like a blood clot." https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22877-bulging-veins It may actually still be varicose veins which is common in 1 in 3 adults. For most people, a bulging vein is truly harmless. Unsightly, perhaps.
Avatar f tn I also have the same problem this is my second pregnancy and there worse. And I have them every where to where the shocking wont help. I just elevate my feet hopefully that works for u as well.
10404685 tn?1418830427 Yep. Gotta love the extra weight of baby and pressure on the veins! I have varicose veins in my legs and my vagina. It's really unattravtive and is constantly swollen unless I'm lying down. And of course comes the pain and heaviness too. Ugh. I'm just glad I don't have them around my butt hole.
4296717 tn?1352378358 The only point of consideration is clots in these veins. However the clots make them painful. So if there is pain then also consult your doctor. Do not fiddle with it. Leave it alone. This needs to be treated with either local injections or medications or even surgery as a persistent varicose vein may hamper erection. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn Thanks I don't hurt a lot just a little and unfourtinally its probley more spider veins or hopefully not varicose veins ....
2020005 tn?1628125976 If that is your concern also, there are signs that could indicate you have a clot somewhere along the vein (typically clots will be behind the knee in leg veins). If you notice your affected leg is red, swollen and tender then I would definitely call the doctor. I have an appointment tomorrow and plan on mentioning my vein issue, but I am pretty sure its just what it looks like, a wonderful varicose vein. I never got them with my other pregnancies so this is new territory for me.
Avatar f tn Hello, sorry about he delay in answering your question. Inner thigh pain and groin pain are common with varicose veins. Also, calf pain is included in that. Please see your doctor if you have not already. Let us know if you have seen them and what they have said. Here is an older question about this answered by a MedHelp doctor https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Blood-Disorders/Varicose-veins---inner-thigh-pain-/show/2027668 Here is some basic information on the condition as a whole.
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
Avatar f tn s I developed road maps on my legs of varicose and reticular veins. I ended up having a part of a varicose vein removed in March at least the bulging part. In my second pregnancy I developed a varicose vein on my labia which has since gone away but I am pretty sure that appears and gets worse with additional pregnancies. My biggest fear is death (pulmonary embolism) and not being here for my girls. Otherwise I am 110% ready for another baby.
Avatar f tn I'd get a 2nd opion is your flight long or short hall also could you ask for more leg space to ensure that you are comfortable also leg socks are also a must I have to wear them as I have deep varicose veins I'm to get surgery to remove my radial head as it's shattered and that it's not healed properly
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
Avatar f tn Anyone had any veins pop out in their calves that are painful when walking?
Avatar m tn My wife has a protruding vein on 1 leg which her doctor has informed her that it is not a medical problem. She has recently noticed more veins that protrude periodically. This is causing her distress so I'm looking for some things that we can do to help prevent more protruding veins and perhaps reduce the one that's protruding already.
Avatar n tn Horse chestnut is the best-known natural treatment for varicose veins. It helps prevent swelling and strengthens capillary and vein walls. The usual dose is 300 mg a day. Side effects are pretty rare, but if you start feeling itchy or nauseous, taper back your dose. Nature’s Way has a widely available, quality product I generally recommend. Grape seed extract also supports the walls of blood vessels. Take 150 to 300 mg in divided doses over the course of a day.
Avatar f tn I went to see a nurse practitioner and she said the feelings I was having was due to varicose veins. Are there any treatments for varicose veins?
Avatar m tn Blood clots can be very dangerous because they can move from leg veins and travel to the lungs. Blood clots in the lungs are life-threatening because they can block the heart and lungs from functioning. An aneurysm of a leg vessel is a varicose. Blood returning to the heart from the heart, lungs, etc. is more complex and doesn't depend on individual veins to move blood against gravity, etc. The factors involved are the determinants of diastolic function.
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn I have varicose veins and had to get an ultrasound my last pregnancy for blood clots too. Luckily nothing. This time around my leg is swollen but not as painful as my last pregnancy. Good luck to you. I hope they don't find any!
Avatar f tn We found out that our ancestors also had trouble with there veins and we think it is genetic. We both have a restricting vein in our neck and legs. I started her antibiotics again hoping it will help and settle her inflammation which I believe is making her veins even worse. The only thing that seems to help is coffee twice sometimes three times a day. I hear that it restricts the veins while supplying blood flow. Is there any naturual herbs for her that would help veins.
1580703 tn?1651904887 You heard the right thing but today non surgical treatments are also available for vein disease. Take care.
Avatar n tn Well I have pitting edema in my legs and a varicose in one, lots of spider veins..I have some major swelling and itching that's mostly at night...when I walk you can see the water move in my legs..the doc has given me water pills, and seems to do no good..I also get numb fingers, but I don't know if the two go hand in hand..I'm 28 years old...5'1 and 184 lbs I would love to walk and work out but my legs just don't have the strength..Please help..Thank You..
1255761 tn?1294681089 If the vessel loses the ability to properly function some blood volume and pressures may cause varicose veins. If the blood return to the heart is severely impeded, that can increase the blood voume and increased work for the heart.
