Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Varicose veins are caused by hormone changes, exposure to the sun, and injuries. Few predisposing factors for developing varicose veins are prolonged standing or sitting, chronic constipation, menstrual cycle, birth control pills/estrogen replacement therapy, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, pregnancy etc.It may not be possible to determine the exact cause of your symptoms without a detailed evaluation.
Avatar n tn Possibly. Taking birth control pills can create a deficiency in certain nutrients. I'd suggest searching natural treatments such as supplements to help strengthen your veins, etc. and help you become healthier.
Avatar n tn I've been on the Nuva Ring for almost two and a half years. My whole family is very fair-skinned, so I've always had very visible veins my whole life. However, it wasn't until I began the Ring that I noticed my first varicose veins on my right calf. I didn't see the connection at the time, but now it's two years later and the same leg is in so much pain almost regularly, and I'm almost positive it is because of the Ring.
Avatar f tn I've dealt with varicose veins with all 3 of my pregnancies. It will get worse as your pregnancy progresses. I wear compression socks all day every day except when I'm sleeping. It helps with the heaviness and pain. They get significantly better after birth. Also if you exercise regularly and don't gain too much that helps keep them in control too.
Avatar f tn I read that pregnancy ones go away after birth but its the pain and swelling now and effect on natural birth. Also somewhere said they start inside so am sure am construction site there-(. I have 3 months to go so its a long journey still. Hope your are not too painful- mine were bad. Hope today wld be better.
Avatar f tn t notice any redness or warmth but its hard to tell since my legs are usually warm anyway. I am 34, on birth control pills and overweight. Other than my weight I am quite healthy...and active. I am a hotel housekeeper so I am on my feet for generally 3-5 hours at work. I always elevate my legs after work. The doctors I have talked to just told me I was dehydration and to drink more water. Can anyone tell me what it feels like to actually have a clot? How were you tested for them?

8550300 tn?1403393781 About 2 and a half months ago I went off birth control. Since then I have begun retaining fluid in my limbs, my hands are constantly falling asleep and my blood pressure is way up. Could it be from going off birth control?
Avatar f tn I have been looking into this a lot myself and found out about spider veins and varicose veins and I think that is what they are. I have just begun a new birth control pill after some problems with my hormone levels and am also on the end of my recent period - could this be causing it? I read that it can if you are on the pill and have imbalanced hormones - such as being pregnant or on your period. Will they fade or disappear when my hormone levels are balanced?
Avatar f tn ve been getting sharp pains in my cervix and today the pressure feels like the veins of my girl parts want to explode. Not sure this is an accurate description but the pelvic belt doesn't help. The baby isn't measuring big or anything but it is my 3rd baby. Does anyone else have this ridiculous pain? I have an appt. with a physical medicine doctor but they couldn't get me in until the 30th.

Avatar f tn Hello, sorry about he delay in answering your question. Inner thigh pain and groin pain are common with varicose veins. Also, calf pain is included in that. Please see your doctor if you have not already. Let us know if you have seen them and what they have said. Here is an older question about this answered by a MedHelp doctor https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Blood-Disorders/Varicose-veins---inner-thigh-pain-/show/2027668 Here is some basic information on the condition as a whole.
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
Avatar f tn I noticed that after giving birth to my fifth child I developed thick painful varicose veins on both legs. I felt embarrassed because as women we are expected to look beautiful all of the time. I did some research online and I came across USA Vein Clinics. They were able to answer all of my questions. I am usually very careful about having any procedure done but they made me feel safe throughout the whole process. I highly recommend them if you want a permanent solution to your varicose veins.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
1138687 tn?1548643978 Hi, I am wondering why there isn't a varicose veins forum!? Where else might I post my varicose veins concerns? I posted in the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum but noticed it is rarely used. I'm not certain but isn't DVT a result of varicose veins? And if varicose veins are more common, with DVT being a side affect, then Why not change that forum to Varicose Veins? Regardless shouldn't there be a forum for varicose veins?
571167 tn?1223214465 These meds cause hostility, restlessness, digestive, vascular (varicose veins, hemrhoids, and varicose veins in the scrotum--infertility), urinary, reproductive (impotence), digestive problems, sleeplessness, ticks, stiffness, and more! The bottom line is that the drugs make them money.
Avatar f tn I went from a B cup to a DD and I have so many varicose vines on my breasts !
Avatar m tn My wife has a protruding vein on 1 leg which her doctor has informed her that it is not a medical problem. She has recently noticed more veins that protrude periodically. This is causing her distress so I'm looking for some things that we can do to help prevent more protruding veins and perhaps reduce the one that's protruding already.
Avatar f tn I have varicose veins in my knees terrible while pregnant and toward the middle and end of my 2nd pregnancy I had pain and pressure and was told it was basically from varicose veins around my "area"... The only relief was delivering baby... I am on my 3rd pregnancy now am 25 weeks and have not had the pain yet...
Avatar m tn My most disturbing symptom is lightheadedness, which has been coming and going since October 2015 (a year ago), when I was forced to switch to birth control pills instead of the birth control patch (no longer profitable for the pharmacies to carry it, so I was forced to switch). At the same time of the switch to teh bcp was when the lightheadedness and dark menstrual blood & excess menstrual clots started and it hasn't changed since.
Avatar f tn I am now 33 weeks pregnant and getting more and more scared of the delivery as I have bad varicose veins on my right labia. I feel them when I blow my nose and I can't imagine pushing the baby out feeling the veins getting bigger as I push!!!! My GP recommended a C section, which I would love but it's not up to her. The obstetrician will decide. How likely is it for the veins to burst while delivering? What about episiotomy? How can I make sure I can have a C section?
2020005 tn?1628125976 You can get clots. I thought i had one and they did a ultrasound on my leg. The symptoms of a clot however are hot to touch spot on leg, the leg would be noticeably more swollen than the other, and there would be pain in the leg. However, varicose veins can hurt too. I wouldn't worry just have your Dr. look at it. If your leg gets really swollen or starts to have pain call your Dr.
927365 tn?1245748499 Treatment of leg veins can be performed by injection of sclerosing agents into the veins and external lasers that work specifically for leg veins. In addition, treatment of underlying venous insufficiency of the deep venous system may be appropriate. The use if internal lasers can now be used in place of traditional vein stripping. You need to consult with a vascular surgeon or plastic surgeon in your area with expertise in this area.
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn We found out that our ancestors also had trouble with there veins and we think it is genetic. We both have a restricting vein in our neck and legs. I started her antibiotics again hoping it will help and settle her inflammation which I believe is making her veins even worse. The only thing that seems to help is coffee twice sometimes three times a day. I hear that it restricts the veins while supplying blood flow. Is there any naturual herbs for her that would help veins.
