valtrex uses side effects

I forgot to add that I have never had a breakout/rash. There is one cut that always appears and goes away with medication. I get it every month, since being diagnosed 4 months ago :( Not too bad, but I have a partner and want to do everything in my power to stop risk of spreading.

valtrex and acyclovir have the same basic side effects. Valtrex is turned into acyclovir inside the body.

Are you having side effects? Or you just want to know if side effects are possible? Side effects are possible with any drug.

The side effects are too severe to continue on Valtrex. Dr. said to try acyclovir, but research shows it has the same ingredients only in lower milligram strength. Has anyone, who couldn't tolerate Valtrex, have success with acyclovir?

My husband and I both have an outbreak every time we have sex which is ruining our sex life. Long term effects of valtrex use is unknown outside of possible renal/liver imparement & I'm just not sure if I should continue taking it. Anyone else have similar experience or advice? Thanks!

Ive been prescribed daily Valtrex, and it seems to be giving me weird side effects, like puffiness and stomach cramps. Plus the Pharmacist claims the Valtrex is really hard on the liver. Is this true? Sorry for so many questions but any feed back would be appreciated as I am freaked out and internet research has led me here.

However, in these small studies, they have found promising results in lessening the pain and bleeding episodes from endometriosis treated with arimidex. I would also just like to caution on the possible side effects of these drugs such as bone pains or fractures. Regards.

Lysine is not the same thing as valtrex - not even sorta. Research shows that it doesn't really do much for herpes either. Most folks already get more than enough lysine naturally in their diets anyways. How long have you been taking the valtrex? What dose are you taking? Headaches are a normal side effect of the herpes antivirals but they typically will go away in a week or two. What mad eyou start suppressive therapy?

Valtrex is not as effective on hsv1 as it is on hsv2. Does your boyfriend know whether or not he is positive for hsv1? There is a good chance he is already infected and doesn't know it If he is not infected, does he know that he can get an hsv1 infection by receiving oral sex from you? If so, he is an adult and making that decision with complete knowledge.

I will I have been on it and experiencing hair loss they don't know if its from that med or a different one so they have me changing...

I started suppression famciclovir over the weekend and had diahhrria 5 times the next day. Has this happend to anyoone else? Please share your side effects of any other meds or meds that gave no side effects. I have to call the doc and get something else.

docs hand them out like candy; there will be no adverse side-effects if negative- just discontinue use. Valtrex does not normally cause any of these symptoms; stress does.

call the dr. who did culture for positive herpes & find out if this outbreak is hsv1 (oral )or hsv2 (gential ). valtrex side efects are minor . take valtrex at night & u will not feel the side effects . keep your hands away from your eyes !!!!!! always wash your hands well after any contact w/ gential or anus . herpes can spread to eyes if carried to the eyes my your hands, just try to settle down & deal w/ this problem because herpes cannot be cured . herpes comes & goes !!

My main concerns are price, effectiveness, and side effects. Has anybody know of any serious side effects for taking these anit-virals for a year? I know it varies from person to person and it can be hard to gauge, but how much of a difference does the therapy treatment make in your life? Also any tips for finding a good price? I saw an excellent post on this site a few days ago about buying the medicines, but I am having problems finding it now.

I would only take Valtrex as needed, not everyday. I took it everyday for a little over a year and now I have elevated liver enzymes which is listed as one of the side affects. My doctor told me that it's the Valtrex because my liver was perfect prior to taking it and I rarely drink. I'm hoping my liver is not permanently damaged but only inflamed.

Hi andream5, my husband is finishing week 16 today, so he completed incivek about 4 weeks ago. I would say his side effects since finishing incivek include itching (no rash), fatigue, some weakness/shortness of breath, fatigue, dry mouth/metallic taste in mouth, and insomnia. I think that the symptoms he is experiencing right now (post incivek) are very similar/identical to the side effects he had with previous two treatments. For the itching, he takes Atavan.
