valtrex lysine

m taking 1000mg lysine everyday. Will lysine affect the blood test result of hsv type 1? Do i need to stop taking it to test positive?

Im feeling a cold sore coming out and i found some old valtrex in my medicine cabinet Issued February 2008. Is it safe to take?

OK. So its been nearly 2 months since I've been diagnosed with this inconvenience. Since I never had a "noticeable outbreak", every little itch or tingling that I get spooks me (The reason why I say that is because the time I had sex with my ex, I did have some tingling and 5 days later he had small blisters on his penis, so I know he contracted it from me).

Also, does Valtrex or Lysine cause yeast? Can too much Lysine cause an outbreak? If 500 mg of Valtrex reduces transmission by 50%, then does 1 mg per day suppressive reduce it more? I have HSV2.

Can I take both Lysine and the Valtrex? I bought some Lysine but was afraid to take both. I love nuts and read about the arganine vs lysine. Any ideas?

Also I don't think you will find much better then valtrex. Valtrex does have a generic out. You may want to look into that.

I have read over and over on this forum that taking lysine does not work, but I do not agree. I was diagnosed with both HSV 1 and 2, but at that point I had never had a breakout, so the doctor did not prescribe meds. Not long after being diagnosed, i started getting that tingling feeling above my lip and on my face up to my eye. I started freaking ou . I wanted to be able to take something, ANYTHING, to prevent a breakout, not just sit around and wait for a breakout happen.

Stomach pain, mood changes, and for four months still having problems down below without breakouts, just pain, front and back, vagina and anus pain, I have had several people tell me Lysine is just as helpful as Valtrex and wondered if anyone has had these problems and has ever used Lysine for genital herpes.

I dont get headaches from the valtrex. I get lack of appetite though! You can take l-lysine! Its sorta the same thing as valtrex but with out all the side effects. Some say it works some say it dont work.

You can treat ob's for $4 with acyclovir from walmart if you live in the US. Suppressive therapy from there is about $15/month. The only lysine dose that showed any effects at all was 1gm 3x/day which is more of a hassle to take than 2x/day, is more expensive and hasn't been shown to have any effect on overall viral shedding. No dose of lysine was shown to speed healing when just taken during ob's.

m negative for HSV 2, he said it would help as a defense for my body from possibly being infected. He also mentioned an amino acid called Lysine, which he said is an alternative natural supplement that has shown to help reduce outbreaks and their severity. These generally heal up pretty quickly and I am not taking Valtrex any longer but taking Lysine instead. Why is it that I seem to be more sensitive now and having these minor outbreaks? Admittedly I am very distressed about having HSV and having a hard time coping (and I also smoke more ) but is it normal to get more outbreaks now (minor or otherwise) and if so why did I not get these outbreaks when I first contracted HSV? My spouse is negative and we have been together 6 years. I take valtrex, lysine, and olive leaf. I quit the olive leaf for 2 weeks and they came back. I am in the middle of a particularly bad outbreak since April. Heals then comes back. I am wondering if I should take the valtrex daily for awhile and I am going to continue olive leaf. I am just so mad at myself. I check the sores on my buttock and the check down there where I have never had an outbreak.

I started going heavy on the Lysine and taking my valtrex (generic brand). I keep watching to see any tears or bumps and nothing yet. I am going to order Lysine liquid today bc I almost choke every time I take those pills and I cut them in half.

And the past 1 1/2 to 2 weeks I feel like my lymph node on pelvis occasionally flares up. Changed Valtrex to more of an outbreak dosage.

right after my first outbreak on my genitals and told after severe pain and burning and ulcers, that i have hsv-1 , but down there..right when i think it's close to gone, I get prodomal symptoms again and they start up back to back...I'm i going to have to pop valtrex and lysine the rest of my life?

I have been taking lysine every day to help avoid oral herpes outbreaks, it is also supposed to help decrease healing time and severity of cold sore outbreaks. does this also help limit asymptomatic viral shedding? I am wondering if it can help prevent me spreading it to someone else like Valtrex would do for someone with it genitally thank you.

Hello, I have oral HSV1 and want to take something daily to help prevent outbreaks and to keep virus at bay. I have a prescription for valtrex, but usually only take when i have an outbreak. Should I take that everyday? Any thoughts on Red Algae or Lysine.. has anyone had success with these? Would anyone recommend to take daily? Also, have been ready about a new light therapy called virulite, anyone heard of this?

We have not had intercourse and I am wondering what the percentage rate of transmission is with or without a condom in this situation, so we can make this decision together. I know of someone who was on Valtrex 500 one pill per day and never had an outbreak for years. Couldn't afford them myself so didn't go for it.

I would usually apply my Acyclovir ointment a few times a day to the cold sore and take two pills of Lysine, one in the morning and one at night and usually in a day or two it would be gone. I just wasn't sure if using these two things was safe while pregnant. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow to ask but I would love anyones opinion on anyone who has used these products while pregnant. Thank you!
