Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex kids

valtrex

But the word is pretty much out on the Valtrex and Valtrex-like medications - they cut down on symptoms and help protect negative partners. Good luck, whatever decision you make. Also, if you do try other supplements, post back and let us know if anything worked.

3 months ago when all this started I have been under extreme stress and depression, obviously not sleeping either. I take valtrex on a regular basis. Could this be hsv-1 primary infection, and how long does the primary infection last. I am very concerned for my wife and kids to contract this, and wondering what she would say. very confused.
is valtrex the only medicine that works for genital herpes? obviously nothing can get rid of it but is that the only medicine scientifically proven to help ?
It does well under Valtrex treatment, but recently I had another outbreak and the doctor took a culture this time(never actually done one before) and said it is negative for HSV. Is this possible?
The Dr. has put me on valtrex for two years and then i do not take anylonger. I am a single woman and no kids, I am wondering how do i date with this? Who wants to date a woman with this. But i feel strongly about telling a future partner upfront. people i talk to say its very painful. I have not experienced that. so i would assume that hsv-2 is what i have? given two different results.
Yes you can definitely have kids. You can also deliver vaginally. At 36 weeks your dr. will perscribe you valtrex if you have herpes, and you will be fine.
I am very upset, because I am planning for kids this year. I am very scared of having a baby know since herpes V. in my blood. What if i had a breakout while i am pregnant. can i use valtrex while i am pregnant. Medication will effect babys growth. so many questions and fears. someone please help me. I know i need to talk to my DR. but, in the meanwhile i cant wait to findout from people who has/who's family member had this same problem.
For unprotected vaginal sex, the risk of transmission -- even if she wasn't taking Valtrex -- probably is in the range of once for every 1,000 exposures. Taking Valtrex reduces that by at least half, probably more. So now we're down to 1 chance in a few thousand.
How was your fiancee originally tested for herpes? there is no reason to test your kids plus we don't have a good blood test for herpes in kids anyways.
old, sharing food (hands in the chip/cookie bag), even physical contact with me and my kids? He suggests I use kids shower for now on (avoid damp, germ-congregating areas). He desperately wants to protect the family, when in the genital area alone it's quite manageable, but now on hands, it seems daunting. Thank you for your advice! We'd also welcome any resources you can offer on this topic.
The Doctor prescribed me Valtrex 500 2 times a day after getting the results yesterday. My questions are; 1. How could the doctor know if i have herpes in my genital area? 2. why am i taking Valtrex if i have no symptoms? 3. how does this affect me in the future? 4. can i have kids? 5. should i get retested? 6. will valtrex lower my HSV-2 test score?
I was treated with acyclovir, 200 mg 4 times a day and that didn't really work. I am now taking 500 mg Valtrex once a day. This is working somewhat well, but I am having some breakthrough symptoms around the time of ovulation. I am extremely worried that my herpes is becoming resistant. Here are my questions: 1. Can I increase my Valtrex dosage or try another drug (Famvir?) to control my outbreaks? 2. I'm also asthmatic and take a inhaled steroid inhaler (Advair).
I dont have any issues with cold sores or anything, though I have HSV1. My sister has HSV2 (genital) and she has had two kids- it is important that your OBGYN knows this. During pregnancy it's usually not an issue but when you go into labor- if you have ANY sores present, a C-section must be done. Also, I do not believe Valtrex is safe during pregnancy in case you take it.
I have had this for years now and have only had 3 outbreaks total (the initial and 2 when pregnant). I take daily valtrex 500 mg and have never had an outbreak while on this. 1) My outbreaks have always been in the same area (on my left side on the clitoris or labia). I have read much on the "boxer short" area. Yet there are differing opinions if recurrent outbreaks stay in the same general area or if they move around the entire boxer short area.
I am not having an outbreak with blisters right now,but I do have some burning and itching vaginally and am taking Valtrex. Last night my son had a nightmare and left his bed and got in bed next to me as he does sometimes with a bad dream. I woke up to realize my butt cheek was touching his. I am so scared I could have given this to him. He had on underwear and I had on long tee shirt, but the shirt rode up during sleep.
It has been over a month now and I am still feeling buring and skin tenderness. I have been taking valtrex for a whole month in high dosages and it has not helped at all. I would like to have kids one day,but if I am not able to have sex no man is going to want me. It feels as though since I have herpes the Dr.s don't want to prescribe anything else besides the antiviral meds which are not helping. I think some type of cream would be better, but I don't know. I am very sad and depressed.
I quickly jumped in the shower and washed my legs with soap and water, and the kids did not have contact with anything. I do not have an outbreak currently and am taking Valtrex 500 mg daily. I am wondering if I could have transferred HSV to my legs in this fashion and if urine can cause HSV to be transmitted. I am mostly worried about possibly having this on my legs now and somehow giving this to my children. Thank you so much for your help!
How common is having HSV1 and get infected with HSV2? Will taking Valtrex help my wife to eradicate the virus completely? I was truly regretted at my stupidity. My main concern is my wife and my two kids now.

Ive had HSV 2 for over ten years. 7 out of the ten I was on valtrex and rarely had outbreaks. The past 3 yrs have been a nightmare I have not been on meds and I get constant outbreaks. Its consumming my life. What else can I do to reduce the outbreaks without getting on meds?
Hello, ok so i was tested positive for type 2 genital herpes about 2 years ago, my doc put me on valtrex 500mg/day and i have been out break free for the last 8 months of my life with no problems, befor going on it daily he just told me to take it whenever i felt like i was gonna get an out break it has always worked for me untill just 3 weeks ago, started getting feelings of an out break and doubled my dose, then i got an out break and i was taking it 3 times a day only for like 2 days untill
They put me on an oral antibiotic but then the symptoms did not subside after a few days leading them to think it was HSV1 and they prescribed Valtrex. After a few days and some rest it went away and scabbed over. Note: The bumps on my lips went across the entire lip, oozed a yellowish- clear liquid, and then scabbed and healed. Fast forward 8 months later, I start getting more and more mini-outbreaks, not as bad as the first one.
I just started dating someone and want to truly understand how this is spread so as to best prevent it. Unfortunately Valtrex and other suppressive medications are expensive and I don't have insurance so I don't take them. I know I need to use condoms. My main question is this: is herpes spread through contact with the outbreak site (ie my tush) or is it also spread through vaginal secretions?
I'm looking for anyone with advanced knowledge why I react to horribly to a common virus. Worried for my kids to catch it. Will it be as bad for them? Scared the valtrax isn't as effective for me anymore.
I have tested positive for HVS1 from a blood test back in 2003 but not sure where since I have never had an outbreak. I went to my GP and he put me on 500 mg of Valtrex twice daily just to knock it out if it was hvs1 orally. Well the meds had no effect. I then had a ELISA blood test done after 11 weeks and it came back positive for HVS1 and neg for HVS2. I have heard that blood tests are not 100% accurate but what is.
