Avatar n tn In the third trimester my doctor has me take it from about 34 weeks till i ddeliver to prevent any outbreaks for when I go into labor. Are you in your third trimester?
Avatar f tn You are almost out of your first trimester. I loved my second trimester as I felt pretty good then. You are feeling good?
Avatar f tn I am now in the first trimester of our 2nd child and think.I am having my first outbreak. Classic sx, itching, blistering, body aches and headache... but I've heard outbreaks are painful and I have no pain.... I also have a subchorionic hemorrhage and wonder.if I may just have vaginal irritation from the constant moisture and contact with blood? Valtrex is category B and since.
6005122 tn?1393527486 Hi, in a study reported in the august 25 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, exposure to valtrex in the first trimester is not associated with an increased risk for major birth defects. Any concerns about outbreaks leading up to the 36 week, just give your doc a call about whats best.
Avatar n tn I did have a lot of extra ultrasounds in the beginning. Then I had a 12 week ultrasound, a down syndrome and a 20 week long ultrasound. All was normal. The 20 week ultrasound was unremarkable. They said it was perfect and it was an hour long so they measured and looked for everything:microenchapaly, hrdroencapahy, etc. Is there still a chance the baby could have caught something else (ie. blindness, lesions), or would it probably suffer from multiple birth defects?
Avatar f tn Did you participate in anal sex? When was your last sexual encounter? Do you know the individuals current HSV status ? Painful sores around anus can be and does indicate herpes and getting them swabbed was very smart on your end. Hopefully, your doctor had the sores swabbed type specific so you know what type you have. Once you receive the results I would advise you to look into suppressive therapy with your doctor.
Avatar f tn 13 weeks pregnant, FTM. I've had herpes over 10 years. I had two outbreaks in the first trimester. At doc appointment yesterday, Dr. said that's too many, and put me on 500mg valtrex daily for suppressive treatment. I thought baby was safe from contracting it while in the womb, and was only at risk during vaginal birth, but Dr. said that babies CAN contract herpes in utero. I'm worried sick now about it, and cried after my appointment.
Avatar f tn Yes, was tested for everything cultures and bloodwork at initial presentation and all negatives. An external culture a week after showed heavy enterococcus bacteria for which I was given levaquin but told it wasn't the cause of the issue. Another internal bacterial culture was done with a repeat pap at 6 weeks, negative. At 8 and 12 weeks blood tests for hep c hiv rpr and herpes all negatives. At 17 wks herpes igg only redone and negative.
Avatar m tn My OB has advised that I go off the suppressive therapy for the first and second trimesters. He said that I can start taking the Valtrex again in the third trimester if I want to safeguard against having a cold sore outbreak at the time of delivery. Grace - I have been on the suppressive therapy (with no outbreaks) for the past 9 months in order to protect my son from the virus. The experience of him being in the hospital for a possible case of neonatal herpes was very traumatic.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't be taking the valtrex in the first trimester. It's unnecessary and will do absolutely nothing. They'll give it to you in the third trimester. 36 weeks is the general time period, but really it's whenever you ask for it. I demanded it at 7 1/2 months. My nurses were idiots. It will prevent you from having an outbreak at delivery. If you have an outbreak while in labor, baby can be born with it in their eyes which is why they would give you a c section.
Avatar f tn I think changing my diet to mainly fruits and veggies helped a little in the first trimester. Im back to a normal healthy diet with some Halloween candy included. Thankfully I'm feeling a lot more energy at 22 weeks now just horrible heartburn. It's funny how feeling the baby kick makes me forget about how unbelievably tired I was.
Avatar n tn So my question is, has anyone experienced cramping in their first trimester? If so, how mild/severe was it for you? I read this is normal due to stretching & expanding of the uterus, but does anyone else feel like you could get your period any minute? It's not THAT extreme but I do have mild cramping on and off. Anyone else experience this?
Avatar f tn I got sick in my first trimester also. My Dr. told me tht I can take any meds in the first trimester AT ALL. She did recommend Sucrets which is a cough drop with little to no meds tht is safe for the baby in this stage. Other thN tht I really had to stick it out ....FEEL BETTER!!!!
Avatar n tn My LO Is 4 months and I cramped a lot in the first trimester. Very normal. Your body is changing, your uterus is stretching and moving. :) Congrats!
Avatar f tn I had a nasty flu over the weekend. Sore throat, fever for about 18 hours and vomiting all night. I tried to keep the fever down with tylenol, but it really didn't do much for me. I didn't have a thermometer but when my fever broke I was sweating profusely so I'm worried that maybe it was pretty high. I know it's not good to have a fever in the first trimester and now I'm a little nervous. Has anyone else been sick like this in the first trimester?

945369 tn?1320829437 definately agree with blugenie, about wearing a pad.another way of using them,is first thing in morning get up have pee.put one in and go back to bed for little while.then at night put one in before bed.that way they can dissolve better inside you, rather than getting up.walking round soon as you have used them.its very normal to have cramping etc in early pregnancy and throughout.good luck to you.
