Yes, was tested for everything cultures and bloodwork at initial presentation and all negatives. An external culture a week after showed heavy enterococcus bacteria for which I was given levaquin but told it wasn't the cause of the issue. Another internal bacterial culture was done with a repeat pap at 6 weeks, negative. At 8 and 12 weeks blood tests for hep c hiv rpr and herpes all negatives. At 17 wks herpes igg only redone and negative.

I did this last night with her and was wondering what the chances were that i can get herpes from her by giving her oral sex or just having unprotected sex with her while she takes Valtrex and has no outbreak. Also is there anything i can do or take to lower the chances of me getting it or is it inevitable that i will get it? Is there anyway to know when she's (shedding) ? The dr informed me when you are pregnant you only take Valtrex from 36 weeks onward to prevent an OB at delivery. I have taken Valtrex a few times on different occasions in the past 16 weeks. Do you think I could have caused any harm to the baby? Also, what do I do if I happen to get an outbreak in the time leading up to 36 weeks?

t usually get obs, maybe once or twice a year. Im currently 34 weeks pregnant and I am worried about passing this onto my baby during delivery. Instead I found an empty bottle of Valtrex, prescribed to her. Needless to say, there was no way in hell I was going to use any toothbrush in there. Rather than blowing up about it, I came home and did some research. But I was sad to find that Valtrex is only prescribed for Simplex I, Simplex II and Zosters. So I asked her about it (via instant message - is that bad?). She said she gets cold sores sometimes, and the Valtrex gets rid of them quickly.

My doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex for a while to let my liver regenerate. While I think Valtrex is an excellent drug for treating HSV 2, I think users should take into consideration that long term use can cause some mild to moderate damage to the liver as my tests have proven. Also, anyone using Valtrex should not drink ANY alcohol while on it because it will exacerbate the problem with your liver. I'm hoping in a few weeks my liver tests go back to normal.

If he's positive for HSV 2, I'll discontinue the med. If he's negative I will keep taking it. would just put me on Valtrex. I read the Valtrex website and the drug has not had full testing on pregnant women. This does not make me feel comfortable. Should I ask the Dr. to retest? Should my husband get tested? If the 2nd test comes up high, should I request a C-section to prevent any transfer of the virus to the baby since I don't feel comfortable taking any type of non tested drug during my pregnancy?

I have used the cream for 2 years off and on, until recently due to becoming pregnant. Is itching a side effect of the valtrex? Now I am pregnant and my OB thought I had yeast infection and prescribed metronidazole vaginal gel .75% for 5 days. (no testing to confirm what type of infection-just visual examination) I got better then got worse with itching, pain and she prescribed monostat....but then I examined myself closer and realized it was my first re-outbreak of the HSV2.

At this point I recommend that he goes on daily suppressive therapy. He can use acyclovir or famvir if he doesn't have insurance that makes valtrex more affordable but valtrex is going generic in 2 months so it'll be cheaper then if his insurance makes generics cheaper. The option of only taking 1 pill a day to control your herpes is just more convenient for most folks.

I need a valtrex prescription and the family doctor gave me some without prescription, the doctor asked to do a blood test for hsv type 1 (had around 6 cold sores at the time, valtrex worked wonders). At the time, I coudnt test for hsv because of taking valtrex but now i need a daily dose but i'm taking 1000mg lysine everyday. Will lysine affect the blood test result of hsv type 1? The ER doctor just looked at it and said it was shingles. He also had another doctor come in and she said the same thing. It's on my right arm and goes up my should to my back. It's kinda in a line. They said I could take Valtrex (my fav med) but since I'm now PREGNANT I have stopped taking all meds. There has been no studies with pregnant women so I don't want to take anything. It took us tooooo long to get pregnant for me to mess it up in anyway.

They will give u meds a month before ur due to avoid and out breaks. If u do have an out break theyll do a c section becait could be harmful to the baby coming out if an out break in present.
