Valtrex generic no prescription

Common Questions and Answers about Valtrex generic no prescription

valtrex

Avatar f tn I heard within the past few weeks valtrex is now generic. The generic form will still be quite expensive for the next few months until pharmacy's and insurances' can adopt it to their formularies. I dont think it would be an option for me for at least a year. I havent experienced any side effects whatsoever with acyclovir so its been great. No outbreaks either. The hardest part for me is managing my stress level and not letting myself get too run-down.
Avatar f tn Acyclovir is way cheaper than valtrex is. You might not be able to get generic valtrex at this point - it's in short supply currently. Ask your provider to change your prescription to acyclovir instead. Even without insurance you can get a course of it for episodic therapy for $4 at walmart and suppressive therapy for under $20 ( with a prescription from your provider of course ). You can have herpes lesions on the foot.
Avatar n tn I recently tested positive for HSV2. Doc put me on Generic Valtrex for supressive therapy. I took 500mg once a day for about a week. The sore from OB has never been so bad or lasted so long. 6 days ago I started 500mg twice a day and still no relief. Could I be immune to the Valtrex? How long should it take to get relief? Awaiting call back from Doc but holidays and all...
Avatar n tn Maybe they are gearing up to move everyone to generic Valtrex which I am sure will have a greater profit margin than acyclovir. I would hate to think that the drug companies are going to try to force people into a more expensive option but it wouldn't surprise me. I know there are people here that are more "plugged in" to this industry/topic than I am. Do you have any thoughts? I would be interested to know.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the response Grace. I understand that Valtrex is better at reducing transmission and that there is a generic version now. 1) Is the generic version as good as the original? 2) Do you know what the cost per month is for either the original and the generic for someone without insurance?
Avatar m tn Well valtrex is generic now everywhere so it shouldn't be a money issue for most folks if they have decent prescription coverage with their insurance. Acyclovir is still way cheaper but if you have insurance coverage that makes generics low cost, valtrex is, as of this month, going to be WAY cheaper for you now :) the technicality to the answer to your question is this - only valtrex has been studied for reduction in transmission to a partner.
Avatar n tn What is the procedure for getting a Valtrex prescription?? Every time I go to this doctor I go to, he writes me a prescription for 3 months. And when the refills are up calling in to ask for more is not an option. They actually want you to come into the office. I don't have time to keep doing this. And I really don't see the point!?!? What needs to be looked at? Nothing is going to change!
Avatar m tn from Europe, I cannot believe how expensive Valtrex is here in the U.S.! I just want to get confirmation that there is a Generic Valtrex that is NOT Acyclovir - it that correct? My online pharmacy is offering me Valcyclovir which is a lot cheaper than Valtrex but I just want to make sure it isn't Acyclovir before I purchase it. Thank you in advance for your help!
Avatar n tn Also as a fyi - valtrex will be going generic in december of this year. It should be going down in price then so if you find that taking medication 2x/day is too hard to remember - check back with your pharmacist next january to see if the price has come down a lot more for you or not with valtrex. If you've never read the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com - it's free and has all the medications and their doses listed there - bookmark it for easy reference!
Avatar n tn Today I got my boyfriend to pick up a new batch of pills as I was sick and he came home with a new generic brand of valtrex. This kind of mad me mad as I have no idea if they are the same or not and I thought i should have a choice to switch not just be switched over. My new bottle says CPL Pms-Valacyclovir 500mg instead of CPL valtrex valacyclovir HCI 500mg. The guy at the drug place told my boyfriend that it was suppose to be the same and that it was only $14.
Avatar n tn There is not a cheap generic version of valtrex available for purchase in the US.
Avatar f tn I am concerned and wanted 2 know if the generic form of valtrex is as effective on viral shedding? I don't outbreak but my main reason for taking medication is to protect my partner.
Avatar n tn can't get a culture because the one redspot doesn't get inflamed and full of fluid often..been taking valtrex daily but the generic doesn't prevent the redspots from recurring..i've taken antifungal pills, antifungal cream, eczema cream all of which were prescription creams...the brand name valtrex actually got rid of redspot on corona one time but it doesn't seem to work now...
Avatar f tn The only thing is, the doctor in the ER gave me Valtrex to take...once my order gets here tomorrow, should I stop valtrex or can I take both for even better results?
Avatar f tn or bumps and ulcerations. Today, I went to fill the Valtrex prescription my doctor wrote out for me, and my insurance didnt even pay for it. I dont have 250 bucks monthly for medication for the rest of my life. I ams till in my 20s and this sucks. I am seriously praying for a miracle. I am saddened that I have this virus. I wanted to be normal again...
Avatar f tn by my doctor prescription only and it numbed it and helped quite alot. ALso I couldnt eat anything spicy, no pizza, no soda, not much of anything because everything would burn and feel horrible. Speak to your do about it and hopefully it will go away.
Avatar m tn ve seen comments with all kinds of opinions comparing the effectiveness of different forms of Prilosec (generic name omeprazole). But that are usually prescription brand-vs-generic, or OTC (non-prescription) brand-vs-generic. What I am looking for is real-life experiences from people who have moved from PRILOSEC OTC to GENERIC RX OMEPRAZOLE, or vice versa. I've been taking PRILOSEC OTC (non-prescription) for quite awhile, after years on the original prescription brand Prilosec.
Avatar m tn ll see an improvement on hsv vaccination it will be when, the license for valtrex runs out and a generic medication take over. other wise, at 7 dollars a pill the business is too big to spoiled it.
Avatar n tn Today I was put on valtrex for my herpes outbreaks. I'm currently 24 weeks and 4 days and I know I have heard or even seen reviews that most women are put on it by 35 or 36 weeks. But I have been having outbreaks and just not taking anything for it was driving me crazy. As many ppl tell me its going to b ok I'm still furious and afraid out of my mind. please ladies I just need some reassurance,is there anyone who has taken this medication and am I taking too soon?
362971 tn?1201987034 If you ask for it, get a couple of doses (I think its 2 pills taken 2 times) cause it has a pretty high co-pay (no generic). My doc gave me 3 doses, says next time start the Valtrex at the first twinge. He cross-checked it in his PDR with Peg and Riba, ok to take for mouth sores, there are some caveats if taking it for genital sores during tx. Valtrex works well and surprisingly fast. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I need a valtrex prescription and the family doctor gave me some without prescription, the doctor asked to do a blood test for hsv type 1 (had around 6 cold sores at the time, valtrex worked wonders). At the time, I coudnt test for hsv because of taking valtrex but now i need a daily dose but i'm taking 1000mg lysine everyday. Will lysine affect the blood test result of hsv type 1? Do i need to stop taking it to test positive?
