If you are only infected genitally, then you can only transmit from the genital area. You say you've never had any major outbreaks orally? If you have ANY outbreaks orally, then it means you are orally infected and can transmit to others via your mouth.

This happened a day after having intercourse. I went and got it cultured and had bloodwork done to get a full STD screening and both the culture and the bloodwork came back negative. The outbreak was gone within 5 days. 8 months later however, I just got out of having a laproscopy and my immune system was down, and I had another outbreak but this time was incredibly bad and painful. The worst pain I have ever been through. It came in a huge patch and it was all black.
However a week later the week of july 8 I had bad chills and night sweats and felt tired, I went to the emergency room and told the doctor how I believed I had herpes and he prescribed me valtrex, I took it that night and I felt better a couple hours later. After 5 days of taking valtrex is when I got the call that my herpes tests was negative but I believe that the test was too early.
You don't need valtrex. It's a long shot you contracted hsv from this. Sounds more like you just aggravated the skin from the act. You won't get flu symptoms with out lesions. You seem way over worried in general.
I was extremely itchy and had flu-like symptoms a couple days after intercourse so I went to my doctor worried about an STD. I was tested for everything, and while I was waiting for the test results I had a swollen lymph node in my groin form. When my doctor told me the next week I was clear of all stds, I told her about the lymph node. She thinks I've contracted herpes but isn't positive. I'm to wait until March to do another blood test for herpes.
The scratch was not that bad, but a few days later it looked a little worst and 2 weeks later I got the flu symptoms. it kind of spreaded a little. Blood work 4 months later came out negative for HSV2, and I was not taking valtrex. I had about 3 blood tests. The outbreaks now are very mild, where no swab test can be done. It is just some burning sensation that still come sometimes. The outbreaks are a small red dot.
Oh and also, here is the circumstance of why I am asking. I am a female on Valtrex and my partner is HSV free. We have decided together to move away from condoms pretty much being aware of the statistics that if I stay on Valtrex there is about a 2 percent chance he will get it. Am curious about the early symptoms and what we need to look for in case he would need to go get tested again at some point.
I should have clarified in my first post that I did have some of the stinging and burning about a week after the possible exposure, it was the flu-like stuff that came 2 weeks later. Do HSV1 outbreaks and the symptoms all come together (i.e., I would have had the flu symptoms at the same time as the genital pain or could it be separated by two weeks time)? Over time without treatment, do those type of symptoms just gradually go away anyways over time if it is specific to GHSV1?
Two weeks passed and I still had this weird tingling sensation in my penis (No cold or flu symptoms) so I went back to the clinic for another inspection. I was then told by the doctor he thought it could be HSV in my urethra, took two swab tests and gave me a 5 day course of Valtrex. I will get the results of the swabs in a weeks time.
A week has now passed and I have now completed the coures of valtrex.
m taking 1 gram of valtrex a day for mollarets he also takes it for breakouts, i worry that we keep giving it back and forth to each other i am very careful about skin contact and anything else that i think the virus is living on like bedding the sink we share etc.
t know what else it could be/what strain it is but the IgM test did fall into the false positive range) last month and now everything down there is cause for concern. No outbreaks like the first but I have noticed some small bumps around my anus, though they are not at the site infection, and they don't feel to be in clusters. They don't hurt either unless I apply pressure to them, so I guess they could be hemorrhoids.
herpes and valtrex aren't issues for this type of surgery or anesthesia. It might trigger a recurrence or it might not. No harm in upping your dose a day or two before surgery or even the day or so after surgery. If you need to skip a day too because of the surgery, that's ok too.

Perhaps I'm jumping the gun and should wait for the Western Blot results, but here's the basic story:
- for the past year, because I've been having flu-like symptoms, followed by burning pains in my hips, and a location of skin that frequently feels crawly or stingy, my family doctor has been fairly confident that it was herpes and he put me on valtrex
- I was on valtrex for a few months, but every 2-3 weeks I was still having another flare up of fever --> burning in hips, so he
I called the clinic back this morning and they informed me they won't get the results back for another week.
Whilst on the call the nurse/receptionist i was talking to asked if i still had symptoms, i told her the tingling sensation was still persistant and that the Valtrex hadn't really worked at all, thats when she informed me that sometimes the initial outbreak can be just the tingling sensation with no open sores etc? Is this really possible?
Also as a fyi - valtrex will be going generic in december of this year. It should be going down in price then so if you find that taking medication 2x/day is too hard to remember - check back with your pharmacist next january to see if the price has come down a lot more for you or not with valtrex.

s early on, but now, I might have one per year and the symptoms have lessened dramatically. I took Valtrex during the ob, but never had to go on suppression.
I educated myself & others, and learned to recognize what my body was telling me. Pre-outbreak I would feel a tingly sensitive area on an area of my thigh (like you had tape on your skin & pulled it off suddenly), or an uncontrollable itchy raw spot... this was prior to sores developing.
I have felt terribly since I slept with ex. I had flu symptoms. Internal soreness so bad the dr's thought it could be ghonorrea/chlamydia. They gave me meds and a shot of rocephin just in case. I am still irritated from the inside got test result for HSV2 from swab test POSITIVE I am still waiting for blood results.
I don't understand why I have/had symptoms since I slept with ex but only from the inside no sores at all. How can that be.

I am already diagnosed with HSV-2 and take Valacyclovir (Valtrex) 500mg daily. After some reading online, it seems that this medication may delay the HIV seroconversion. Does this mean that HIV symptoms would also be delayed or minimized?
I understand that I will not be sure until I take an HIV test, but I am hoping for some peace of mind until I get tested at the 3 month mark.
