One girl yesterday nearly died because she was told she had swine flu and got worse and worse and ended up in emergency and she had MENINGITIS. This new service is going to be misused IF it works that is. I know of people who are ringing up the doctor taking the symptoms off the internet trying to get Tamiflu to take on HOLIDAY just in case they need it. Now our surgery has said they will only offer Tamiflu for people who are vulnerable.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and a little worried about the swine flu. I'm in Colorado and the first confirmed case was announced after the person was at a hospital less than 10 minutes from my house on the south end of town. My dad has been really sick the last couple of days with the flu and he's getting tested tomorrow. I figured I should look into and find out what the symptoms are. Looks like regular flu symptoms.

My 4 year old grandson was tested for swine flu and found to be positive and was given Tamisol and has been fine...although he is known to suffer with bronchitis. He was chesty with it but after a week was ok. The worst thing about it was having to pay the $100 for the flu med as my daughter couldnt name if he had been near anyone with it. He is in daycare everyday. Hes made a full recovery.

I have opted this year to have both normal flu ,and Swine Flu vaccinations. I think it is a personal choice. I think you need to decide for yourself. I think with an immunosuppressed body that the consequences of getting any flu is far worse than any other side effect. I think there will always be a minority who will not tolerate the vaccine. When you look at how many millions of people died BEFORE vaccines became available, it makes you realise that modern medicine has come a long way.

I just heard about the recent death in Washington where the individual had a heart condition, pneumonia and swine flu. I was recently diagnosed with CHF in January, so all this is still very new to me.

I just went for a flu shot on Tuesday night, and will go for the swine when it comes as injectable. I got the flu last season and it was horrible, had lots of add on associated problems, so remembering that helped push me into getting it. i was about 7 weeks pregnant and went to the ER,they said they werent sure if i had the swine flu or flu but not sure so they treated me for the swine flu anyways because i was pregnant,they gave me tamiflu....i wanted to know if there was any risks to the baby from having the flu or from the tamiflu?

t think it was the swine flu as the swine flu comes on quite suddenly and my symptoms came slower. I was sent to a Rheumatologist that diagnosed me on symptoms alone, no tests, as having Poly Myalgia Rheumatica, possible Giant Cell Arteritis, and possible Fibromyalgia. I had a biopsy of the arteries in my head for the GCA and it was negative. However, another doc said that because I had been on steroids the test would come back negative.

I have known of so many people that have taken flu shots over the years and end up getting flu like symptoms from the shot. Plus, I have yet to ever take the pneumonia shot. I not one bit afraid to take a shot. Never been scared of needles. But, I am though afraid of taking shots, that are only going to make me sick. When I am trying to prevent things like flu and pneumonia. To prevent becoming ill to begin with. Then, there is this swine flu that is all in the news, etc.

I have known plenty of people who have had the swine flu jab and have become very poorly and had to take time off work and stay in bed for a week or two. My own father had both the swine flu jab and the normal sessional flu jab on the same day and really regreted it, he became very poorly and suffered badly with his chest.. he swears he will never have them again and yet he has had the normal sessional flu jab every year for the last 10years.

I'm not sure where you got your information but that's not quite correct. Swine flu is a mixture of swine, human and avian flu. Just google it or check Wikipedia for more info. I know I'll get the regular flu shot and probably the swine flu shot too. The flu can be dangerous in pregnancy. I too plan to talk to my OB next visit. I remember several deaths last year from the swine flu!

I already got the Swine Flu Vaccine. My doctor told me that i needed to get it because the risk of getting Swine Flu was higher than the risk of the shot. So many pregnant women have died from the Swine FLu so i got scared and preferred being protected. Hope this helps you make your decision!

Hi, I work in a doctors surgery and im exposed to alot of things I stay in scotland and the swine flu here is still pretty scary. I have decided not to take the vacine as I feel it's just too new and not enough trials on pregnant woman have been done for my liking. Also all the doctors in my work are NOT taking it either. The best advice is wash hands regulary, avoid sick people and if you get a high temp take paracetamol asap.

This does not relate to lyme at all but I am worried. My 5 year old son woke up this morning feeling very sick. He's feverish, red eyes, congested, weak, and fatigued. Of course the first thing I think of is swine flu. How would I know if he had just a reg virus or swine flu? I'm really worried about him and of course it's Sat. so the drs is closed. It never fails! First, the swine flu is just like the regular flu and is treated just like the regular flu. It has been around for a long time and you may have been exposed to this particular strand in the past. Don't sweat it! If you do end up getting sick, just see your doctor and get better!

Strongly suggest everyone worldwide with HCV patients to get the swine flu shot. If this was a small taste of the swine flu. My honest opinion us HCV would not make it. I recommend you speak to your doctor(s) opinion to get the swine flu shot. I have improved today. And well worth it.

I would like to know if you had any additional tips (other than the regular advice) on how to avoid the Swine flu and what to do if we catch it. I am not getting the Swine flu vaccination as I cannot tolerate vaccinations and have concerns about this vaccination in the first place. Thanks again for being here !
