valtrex

Avatar m tn symptoms....took Valtrex at the start and the symptoms went away but the outbreak of a blister started and the Valtrex made me more comfortable while I heal. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Also, if I take Valtrex 500mg every day for the forseeable future are there any risks? i.e. kidney/liver problems down the track etc? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I still have the itching, redness, soreness, anal itching and some surface sores even though I was taking the Valtrex daily. My insurance will not cover the Valtrex so now I am taking Valacyclovir(1 gram) daily. Do I need to take it twice a day? I really can't take the constent soreness, itching and pain almost daily and need some help.
Avatar f tn only problem it that it elevated my liver enzymes which is not a good thing. Doctor told me to stop taking Valtrex and only take it if I absolutely need it, ie wedding, meeting, ect.
Avatar m tn Is it possible to have a six month prodrome and then just one blister/lesion? Will Valtrex affect blood tests? My uro says 10 days of Valtrex, and then 15 days of no meds, then test IGG and IGM. I am 90% sure this is herpes, but I am hoping to be wrong and the blood tests to be right.
Avatar f tn That's what my Dr gave me and I'm sure it's valtrex. It's valacyclovir hcl 1 gram tablet. I went to get a second opinion at an std clinic and they confirmed I have herpes type 2. I plan on going back to the std clinic next Wednesday so I can ask more questions b/c my primary Dr seems to not be on her A game when it comes to this situation.
Avatar n tn I would encourage your provider and you to seek out other reasons for your slight hypertension, and also appropriate medication and/or exercise and weight loss (if appropriate). If you have no kidney disease, you need no dose adjustment.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.
1165078 tn?1338655745 I've been on Keppra for over 3 yrs now, other than gain weight as soon as I was put on the drug, I've had numerous UTI's and kidney infec. as well as Kidney stones, I reduced my dosage by half (1000mg/day down to 500mg/day) over a period of 4 months last yr, still szr free, and blood levels come back with in therapeutic range (something my Neuro can't quite explain yet isn't making me go back up to the 1000mg/day). But I'm having more kidney issues.. am I alone on this?
Avatar m tn I would hate to think that you have suffered and taken all of this valacyclovir for something that was not HSV and there are other problems which can cause sores resembling HSV. My primary advice for you is that you need a culture or PCR from a lesion and if nothing else, a repeat blood test. Now on to the questions that you asked: Typically oral HSV-1 infections require higher doses of valacyclovir than genital HSV. The reason for this are unclear but those are the data.
Avatar f tn My 29 year old daughter had a severe and frightening reaction to Valtrex. She had cold sores and began taking 500 mg Valtrex, per script. She took one in the am and one in the pm for five days, and as adverse effects appeared, she cut back to one in the pm for four more days. She progressively became psychotic, experiencing altered states of consciousness, panic attacks, uncontrollable crying, tremors, and extreme fear. Blurred vision and the inability to focus were also taking place.
3229560 tn?1347037510 Just make sure Lerner is the last name.. And that the subject is EBV and CFS and Valtrex, and read what his study shows. All I know is I am doing so much better !! Avatar f tn I am so sorry to hear about our pain and kidney issues. I can imagine how painful and tiresome it must all be ....and my heart goes out to you. I've had multiple kidney stones also. I assume they are unable to provide a specific diagnosis for your under the rib pain.... or do they believe it is related to the kidney issues? I can certainly relate to be tired of "pain meds" however we often have little choices if we want to tolerate our pain and function to some degree.
1348086 tn?1370783185 If any thing is serious with your kidney then you will come to know immediatly so no need to wait for symptoms to occur, Also do not do lot of google search because the more you do the more you learn the new symptoms and your brain will start mapping those symptoms to kidney and finally you will land up in health anxiety.... Enjoy life take care of your mother.. take her outside for a walk .. call your friends at home .. have a nice atmosphere at home and enjoy... dont think much ...
Avatar n tn I was reffered to a urologist specialist and found out she only had one kidney and had number 5 reflux in that kidney,so she had surgery on that kidney and so far so good.No more infections, and she is now 10 and doing fine.Good luck with your little girl,i know they worry the hell out of you but try to take one day at a time or the stress will make you sick.
Avatar n tn org/cgi/content/abstract/2/3/563 Liver disease secondary to chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients. Evaluation of patients with chronic HCV infection is warranted to determine stage of disease and the need for HCV therapy.

Avatar f tn gfr measures your kidney function.. low filtration rate is suggestive that your kidney has not been working very well.. creatinine is fairly reliable indicator of kidney function.. so the high value of your creatinine may be because of your kidney.
Avatar m tn My friend has a kidney problem. She says its inflammation of kidneys. And she coughed blood too. Her kidneys still hurt. What kind of problem can this be. Can someone please advise.
Avatar m tn Well, on one hand you are saying that the only that helps you is Valtrex and on the other, you're saying shouldn't Valtrex take care of it if is herpes. I've given you my opinion on all of this. If you believe it is herpes and Valtrex makes it better, then I am not in a position to try to convince you of anything else. If you have eye problems, you should see an eye doctor as soon as possible. This is my final post on this thread.
Avatar f tn Hey dewitt, its okay if you are using valtrex for some relief, but its the the ultimate treatment, you need to understand how to create self-belief and self-confidence and the other part is lengthy yet simple but can't be discussed here. So, leave me a pm and we will sought it out together, and please at first, don't use valtrex too much as it has severe after-effects.
