Due to high fever, i went to er , they did a test for herpes and called me and said I have it. They prescribed. valacyclovir hcl. I just started taking it today. I read that this can be common with people who have aids. I have not had unprotected sex deliberately but condom broke. I had a steady girlfriend but broke up one. 1) I have the beginnings of a cold sore on the lip. For Valacyclovir and Valtrex the recommended dosage is 2000mg every 12 hours...total of 4000mg in 24 hours. I have 2000mg of Valtrex and 2000mg Valacyclovir from prior outbreaks. Can I take them together for the some effect? Or do I need to take the 4000mg total dose with the same drug?
2) I am getting cold sores on the lip up to 3 times a year. There is no common catalyst. Each outbreak if not treated early is as severe as all the rest.

there will not be a cure for herpes by the end of this year dear. You need to accept that you have it and treat it.
For 9-10 years now I have been getting cold sore ONLY on my bottom lip. have been taking Valacyclovir 500mg once daily for this for 8 years now. Seems to help a little but not much. Also for the same time 9-10 years my bottom (ONLY) lip peels ALL the time. now let up. Not an allergy to makeup/lipstick/lip/balm. I stopped using and it did nothing to solve this.

I started getting sores on my tongue after i get a cold sore, which I have always had, about 5 months ago and these sores on my tongue have been constant since than. Doctors, my female friend is enduring an initial outbreak of genital Hsv1 I am certain I am the cause via a cold sore and oral sex. She started showing symptoms a week ago. 1 sore that blistered. I am a 28 year old male and have experienced fairly frequent cold sore-outbreaks over the past 5 years (about once a month or so). Around late October of 2007, these outbreaks began to reoccur on a weekly basis... to the point where I had them on my face just as often as when I didn't . These outbreaks are not just do not just localized to my mouth. They also show up on the chin and also on the side of my face near the jawline.
