Avatar n tn I have been using Vagifem for over a year and love it. No side effects for me or my husband. I have read a lot about it and it seems to be widely thought of as an effective remedy for vaginal dryness in a way that does not let the estrogen be absorbed by the body. I will continue to use it.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would be tempted to give you 14 days of progesterone (Prometrium seems to have fewer side effects) and then repeat the ultrasound before doing a biopsy. If you wanted to continue Vagifem, I would consider scanning again in 3 months to see if the lining was building up again. If so, you could stop the medication, or consider a small daily dose of progesterone. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn if your low on estrogen and I bet you are the cure is simple...I choose the patch its easy and no bad side effects...its a simple blood test to determine if you need hormones.
Avatar f tn 1st 10 days using Vagifem no side effects just discharge. Started 3rd week and have cramps and then diarrhea (sometimes). Does it get better?
Avatar f tn I am needing a rectocele repair, badly, if I can find someone who will take my traditional medicaid. What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell.
Avatar f tn I was without estrogen for some time in this year, and then I used local estrogen (Vagifem) and Vaginal balans. My vagina and vaginal atrium and urethra are in poor condition. I have also had osteopenia previously. And I have hypercalcemia, I should not use calcium pills. Could it be possible that I have cystitis or vaginitis? I hardly have any discharge from vagina. I had my first bacterial vaginitis in January this year. I had abnormal bleeding before it.

I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!
Avatar f tn Your tissues are so dry that they cut and bleed with any friction. Luckily, there is a remedy. A vaginal estrogen pill (Vagifem) or cream (Premarin) can be inserted into the vagina on a regular basis and it will help rebuild the tissue and prevent this type of dryness. I personally prefer Vagifem because it is less messy and each comes in its own applicator. You will still need to use something like Astroglide duirng intercourse to have even better results.
Avatar f tn Estring, for example, releases over 90 days an amount equivalent to taking oral estrogen for just 2 days, and Vagifem, aready a very low dose estrogen product, is now available in a 10 mcg dose, as well as the original 20 mcg dose. (Both of these are reported to be preferrable to a similar third product, Estrace.) These products also appear to have a very, very low level of systemic absorption.
Avatar f tn Adenomatous and hyperplastic means that there is possibly a build up of glandular tissue within the uterus due to stimulation of the endometrium by estrogen (Vagifem). The tissue needs to be sloughed (drained) somehow, or it might continue to build up and eventually become cancerous. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn Have you tried vaginal estrogen cream (Estrace). It can really help with the burning and itching. I have also used Vagifem, which is a tiny tablet that comes with a slim applicator - no mess! When we go thru menopause those delicate areas can really take a beating and even if we take systemic estrogen those areas can still need some applied right there.
Avatar f tn Everything I have read seems to indicate that estrogen and also estrogen replacement therapy slow down the progression of fibrosis. I copied and pasted a few links here but just Google Hepatitis C liver fibrosis estrogen replacement and all sorts of sites will come up for one to read. "Our results support experimental data and have important clinical implications for the management of postmenopausal women.
Avatar f tn I was just given a prescription for Vagifem and I have my Uterus. I'm using it because I feel like my skin is tearing during sex. It's very painful. I'm not sure if it's going to work or not. The drug has so many side effects that I'm somewhat worred about taking it. It's one thing that I could harm myself, but what about my spouse?
Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
Avatar f tn Oh great one of the side effects of vivelle dot patch is back ache,,that explains my lower back pain,,,it did happen after going on vivelle, but i am thinking clearer maybe it willl go away
Avatar f tn And yes, estrogen can stimulate any remaining endo. Some doctors say that going without estrogen for a certain period of time post-op to allow the lesions to die off reduces this risk. Others say that taking progesterone with the estrogen reduces this "endo flare" risk. Regardless of the endo issue, going without hormones can be a very miserable existence.
Avatar m tn Has anyone anything good to say about Vagifem [Estradiol hemihydrate]. I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
Avatar f tn I can not stress enough that it is best you only use a good, progesterone cream and not the estrogen, it sounds like you are estrogen dominant and that could be the root of your problems, that, and the possible allergy to the anti-biotic you are taking.
Avatar n tn Are there any side effects with this disease other than the outbreaks? I'm having an issue with vaginal lubrication and I was diagnosed 3 years ago. And I'm wondering if this virus could be the reason.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Thank you for writing to us here, though I am sorry that you are struggling with side effects from the result of breast cancer medication. I am also a breast cancer survivor, however as I am triple negative, the hormonal drugs are not effective for me so unfortunately I cant speak from experience. However, that doesn't mean that I cant find out some interesting information for you in relation to libido and Arimidex.
1178023 tn?1293733628 All medications have side effects of some kind, it comes down to what is worse what the medicine is treating or the side effects. I would talk to your doctor and see what he says and his stats for progesterone.
Avatar n tn m sure that your vaginal tissues are very thin and dry from lack of estrogen (called atrophic vaginitis). There is something called vagifem that might help, if you can take estrogen even genitally. This really could be from herpes, or from the hysterectomy, or its something different causing the vulvodynia. If you've had PHN for a long time, then maybe its that. When they are treating you for bacterial infections, are they testing you or just assuming?
Avatar f tn If you go to chemocare.com you can read all the side effects of Tamoxifen. What you mention are all listed there. The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree.
