Avatar n tn I am 58 and three years post menopause. I have been using Vagifem for over a year and love it. No side effects for me or my husband. I have read a lot about it and it seems to be widely thought of as an effective remedy for vaginal dryness in a way that does not let the estrogen be absorbed by the body. I will continue to use it.
Avatar n tn Do you know of a substitute pessary for Vagifem or Ortho-Gynest as these seem to be discontinued locally.
Avatar f tn When Vagifem or Estrace is prescribed for a post menopausal woman with a uterus, should a progestin always be prescribed as well? I've been taking Vagifem for 2 years without a progestin, and now I have to undergo an endometrial biopsy because of some buildup of the lining of my uterus (I have no bleeding....it showed up on an TV ultrasound...small changes and endometrial thickness of 5mm).
Avatar m tn I am very concerned about the cancer risks associated with Vagifem in particular due to the fact that I will be taking such a high dose (I read that menopausal women- whom this treatment is normally indicated for would only take one tablet a day for two weeks and then three tablets per week subsequently). My doctor has dismissed my concerns due to the short duration of the treatment, however I have calculated that 8 weeks of treatment with my prescribed dose of Vagifem actually equates to 4.
Avatar m tn I used vagifem for two years and stopped for about one month. I want to start up again.
Avatar f tn I have recently been started on Vagifem and in the last 3 days have had copiou amounts of greenish watery vaginal discharge. Should I be concerned it is very annoying.
Avatar f tn HI, I'm 27, my gynecologist put me on vagifem for vaginal dryness. My period is now a week late which is very unusual for my cycle. My boobs are achy but not sore to touch. Could my period be late and sore boobs because of vagifem??
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response, MM. I will stop taking the Vagifem until I talk to my doctor. Actually, I'm also waiting for the results of a BRACAnalysis, so she may even suggest I stop until I get those results. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn ve just had gyno issues in past few months of a burning sensation inside my vagina and sometimes outside too. It is very uncomfortable at times. She prescribed me vagifem and betnovate to use for 3 months consistently before I go back to her. I'm worried after reading on internet about cancer being linked to it and so on. Also I know steroid creams can thin the skin however when I mentioned this to her she said that it's nothing to worry about and some women are On It for life.
Avatar f tn I'm a 59 year old post menopausal woman who recently had my 4th follow-up transvaginal ultrasound because of a small ovarian cyst. The cyst is still there (but quite small), however, my latest ultrasound has caused my doctor to schedule an endometrial biopsy for me. Here are the findings: "The endometrium measures 5mm in thickness. Tiny cystic changes are noted involving the endometrium. This finding was not seen on previous examinations.
Avatar m tn Has anyone anything good to say about Vagifem [Estradiol hemihydrate]. I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
Avatar n tn The doctor now thinks it is vaginal atrophy, and I have been given vagifem tablets. Every day for 2 weeks, followed by twice a week. I still have the vaginal discharge , except it is no longer yellowish green, it is white or clear or slightly yellowish. Here's my question.. Has any one else had this symptom from vaginal atrophy? What works to make this go away?
Avatar m tn Has anyone else suffered the dreaded Vaginal Atrophy. Have been prescribed Vagifem which is helping a little. Main problem for me is burning after urination. Don't like using the prescribed betnovate cream too often as this burns. Now trying the yes products. Some days I seem much better and then the next day it returns with avengeance. Sitting at School working with children is not ideal and aggravates it even more.
Avatar f tn In general most doctors will use intravaginally estrogen, pill or cream, nightly for 2 weeks and then twice weekly thereafter for maintenance. Using estrogen for 4 to 6 weeks is generally enough time to show improvement in the vagina for surgery.
Avatar f tn I have been using Evorel patches (25 mcg) for over ten years. Because I have recently had polyps and overgrowth of endometrium, I had to stop using them. I was without estrogen for some time in this year, and then I used local estrogen (Vagifem) and Vaginal balans. My vagina and vaginal atrium and urethra are in poor condition. I have also had osteopenia previously. And I have hypercalcemia, I should not use calcium pills. Could it be possible that I have cystitis or vaginitis?
Avatar f tn Following on from my above post, I saw the GP who told me she wrote to the gyno in September but has not yet got a reply. She will write again. She said I'd been put on the pessaries because the investigations showed some vaginal dryness. I wasn't aware I had 'dryness' and as I don't have any symptoms which I understand HRT is supposed to be to treat, I told her I'd decided to stop using them. I only wish I hadn't used them in the first place.
Avatar f tn I was divorced shortly after. For some time I had a BF and there were no sex problems. Then I went 4 years without a BF and now I entered a new relationship. Our first sex encounter was very painful for me and I bled and had great discomfort for several days. The pain is internal and the discomfort external. Could this be related to my paartial hysterectomy?
739070 tn?1338603402 HI All, I received this update on one of the medical sites I use and thought there might be some interest. Botox has been used off-label for urinary incontinence but it is FDA approved which may help those whose insurance won't pay for off-label use of drugs. The article is shown below: FDA NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: August 25, 2011 Media Inquiries: Jeffrey Ventura, 301-796-2807, jeffrey.
5509293 tn?1428531475 There are other causes of incontinence, such as nerve damage and for this your neurologist may getting brain MRI’s done. Treatment depends on the type of problem you have and what best fits your lifestyle. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Avatar f tn Hello again, I forgot to ask this in my prior post regarding Vagifem. I exercise a few days a week with weights...is it okay to continue lifting weights now that I know I have a cyst on my ovary or could I be risking having it rupture? Is cardio okay to do? Thank you all.
Avatar f tn It can really help with the burning and itching. I have also used Vagifem, which is a tiny tablet that comes with a slim applicator - no mess! When we go thru menopause those delicate areas can really take a beating and even if we take systemic estrogen those areas can still need some applied right there.
Avatar f tn I agree with cherie, i had the same problem, go speak to GP and he will prescribe hormone treatment to help there is also a pill you can insert inside called vagifem which help to plump up the skin inside again, to get things back to normal.
Avatar f tn What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell. I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!

He was taking a medicine for two weeks previously for gerd called esomeprezole (nexium) which was causing him to be incredibly thirsty drinking huge amounts. We stopped themedicine and the thirst is better but incontinence remains. We've had multiple tests, urine, blood, diabetes, MRI, ultrasound all normal. The drs are baffled! Avatar f tn I am 51, postmenopausal, my official age of menopause is 47, my symptons have been repeated UTI which have been treated with antibiotics, I have also been on Vagifem which I must admit I have been very lax at taking and have only used one box, I did use the last one a couple of days before my symptons appeared, my symptons are, blood stained discharge for a day or two, pelvic pain, low back ache, lightheadeness and slightly bloated, I went to see my GP who has put me on a two week referral and m
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation (due to balance issues) in November of 2007 by a radiologist and confirmed by a pediatric neurologist. In January we saw a neurosurgeon who disputed the diagnosis (we weren't wanting surgery for that anyway - just a diagnosis). Then we had an MRI of the lower spine done due to issues with incontinence, leg pain and weakness.
Avatar f tn I still have vaginal concretions, althouhg I have not used gloves for many days. Now I believe that they are real vginal concretions! But I don't know what they are, maybe calcium carbonate. I have not seen calcium oxalate crystals in my urine. I have not taken a urine sample today.
