Avatar n tn As an alternative to vagifem, you can get prescribed estring. The other alternatives are creams--Premarin and Estrace vaginal creams but use them under prescription. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn Although we do not yet have data on the safety, for ER+ BC survivors, of the use of locally (vaginally) applied estrogen products, two, Vagifem and Estring, provide very low doses of estrogen. Estring, for example, releases over 90 days an amount equivalent to taking oral estrogen for just 2 days, and Vagifem, aready a very low dose estrogen product, is now available in a 10 mcg dose, as well as the original 20 mcg dose.
Avatar f tn m 34 and after a recent visit to a gyno she prescribed me vagifem suppositories and betnovate cream. I am not menopausol or anything. I've just had gyno issues in past few months of a burning sensation inside my vagina and sometimes outside too. It is very uncomfortable at times. She prescribed me vagifem and betnovate to use for 3 months consistently before I go back to her. I'm worried after reading on internet about cancer being linked to it and so on.
Avatar n tn I had 3 dental implants put in 10 months ago. I also had a dental implant bridge done on another part of my mouth that same month. Up until that time, I was very healthy person and had no problems with my skin. A month after implants, I started developing tiny boil-like eruptions on my thighs with much inflamation under the skin. I also started to have many, many tiny red bumps all over my body. I'm a mess and clothing hurts me horribly.
Avatar n tn I am 58 and three years post menopause. I have been using Vagifem for over a year and love it. No side effects for me or my husband. I have read a lot about it and it seems to be widely thought of as an effective remedy for vaginal dryness in a way that does not let the estrogen be absorbed by the body. I will continue to use it.
Avatar f tn Hello Doctor, I have a question based on a helpful response you gave me earlier. When Vagifem or Estrace is prescribed for a post menopausal woman with a uterus, should a progestin always be prescribed as well? I've been taking Vagifem for 2 years without a progestin, and now I have to undergo an endometrial biopsy because of some buildup of the lining of my uterus (I have no bleeding....it showed up on an TV ultrasound...small changes and endometrial thickness of 5mm).
Avatar f tn I have recently been started on Vagifem and in the last 3 days have had copiou amounts of greenish watery vaginal discharge. Should I be concerned it is very annoying.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed 2x daily Vagifem tablets as part of a fertility treatment with Clomid. I have been told that should I fall pregnant I would have to continue this treatment for 6 further weeks (~8 weeks treatment with Vagifem in total).
Avatar m tn I used vagifem for two years and stopped for about one month. I want to start up again.
Avatar f tn Could my period be late and sore boobs because of vagifem??
Avatar f tn ll stop taking the Vagifem until I speak to her, but does anyone know if Vagifem is a risk factor if you have a post menopausal ovarian cyst? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I was without estrogen for some time in this year, and then I used local estrogen (Vagifem) and Vaginal balans. My vagina and vaginal atrium and urethra are in poor condition. I have also had osteopenia previously. And I have hypercalcemia, I should not use calcium pills. Could it be possible that I have cystitis or vaginitis? I hardly have any discharge from vagina. I had my first bacterial vaginitis in January this year. I had abnormal bleeding before it.
Avatar f tn She said I could stop the Vagifem for 3 months and have another ultrasound, however, she recommends that I have the biopsy now. Can you please explain what "Adenomyosis versus hyperplastic changes" means? And would you suggest a biopsy based on these results? My doctor told me that I don't have to stop taking the Vagifem, however, I don't feel comfortable taking it now. Do you feel I should discontinue? Thank you for your assistance.
Avatar m tn I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
Avatar n tn Hi Barb I'm 53 with lichen sclorsis and I hate, it, too. Not what we agreed to, huh? I wad diagnosed about 8 years ago also, and I, too, have trouble controlling mine -- but to answer your question, I've seen several doctors, and I find the gyne's are best. There is such specialized skin there, the LS seems to need estrogen of some type, and the LS can have deforming effects.
Avatar n tn Yes I've had yellow green discharge for 4 months - no bacteria showing up on tests - now seeing a specialist who has put me on vagifem same dose as you. I'm not convinced this will work and am desperate to get rid of the discharge - any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I am 54 yrs. of age and have been period free for 8 yrs. Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work.
Avatar m tn Has anyone else suffered the dreaded Vaginal Atrophy. Have been prescribed Vagifem which is helping a little. Main problem for me is burning after urination. Don't like using the prescribed betnovate cream too often as this burns. Now trying the yes products. Some days I seem much better and then the next day it returns with avengeance. Sitting at School working with children is not ideal and aggravates it even more.
Avatar f tn A couple of years ago, I began using Estring 2mg - which helped. I had my hormone levels tested in December and my doctor said they basically didn't even register. My estrogen level was below 20. I began using bio-identicals, but was not very faithful. I would skip a day or two, then back on it, averaging everyother day. I wasn't noticing a huge difference. I then decided I would make a FAITHFUL effort. I called my doctor and asked if I could have my hormones re-tested.
Avatar f tn What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell. I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!
Avatar f tn 1st 10 days using Vagifem no side effects just discharge. Started 3rd week and have cramps and then diarrhea (sometimes). Does it get better?
Avatar f tn I personally prefer Vagifem because it is less messy and each comes in its own applicator. You will still need to use something like Astroglide duirng intercourse to have even better results. But, things should go back to normal if your tissues get the right amount of estrogen. Also, as time goes on in this new relationship, you may be more relaxed and have more natural lubrication to help you along. I hope you find something that helps! It is frustrating to have that problem!
Avatar f tn Hello again, I forgot to ask this in my prior post regarding Vagifem. I exercise a few days a week with weights...is it okay to continue lifting weights now that I know I have a cyst on my ovary or could I be risking having it rupture? Is cardio okay to do? Thank you all.
Avatar f tn Have you tried vaginal estrogen cream (Estrace). It can really help with the burning and itching. I have also used Vagifem, which is a tiny tablet that comes with a slim applicator - no mess! When we go thru menopause those delicate areas can really take a beating and even if we take systemic estrogen those areas can still need some applied right there.
Avatar f tn hi when my husband and i have sex i must use ky jelly first because im very dry, after we have had sex i am very, very sore. it is after i have had a lower hysterectomy. please help what can i do.

Avatar f tn I am 51, postmenopausal, my official age of menopause is 47, my symptons have been repeated UTI which have been treated with antibiotics, I have also been on Vagifem which I must admit I have been very lax at taking and have only used one box, I did use the last one a couple of days before my symptons appeared, my symptons are, blood stained discharge for a day or two, pelvic pain, low back ache, lightheadeness and slightly bloated, I went to see my GP who has put me on a two week referral and m
