contractions

Avatar f tn Yes, some women have cyclic bleeding although it is not menstruation. Menstruation is the shedding of the uterine lining and you can't do that when pregnant. But you can have hormonal bleeding. It is generally early in pregnancy though and not heavy like a true period.

Avatar f tn Could be uterine contractions. Oxytocin (the hormone that makes you orgasm) is responsible for contractions when you go into labor. Practice contractions post orgasm are totally normal although not always comfortable! Drink some water and lay down for a while to relax them away.
Avatar n tn You should be okay to masturbate and have sex all the way up until your water breaks, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Yes, orgasms do cause uterine contractions, but unless your body and baby are ready they won't be strong enough to start labor.

Various causes of heavy bleeding which should be ruled out are fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, uterine polyps, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems and bleeding disorders. Do discuss this with your gynecologist and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn You can have decidual bleeding during pregnancy that occurs around the time you would expect a period. However, this isn't a period. During menstruation the uterine lining is completely shed, meaning any embryo that was implanted would also be shed causing a miscarriage.
Avatar f tn d there is no ovulating, then your body has nothing to clean, so there will be no menstruation. There is obvious different stories out there, sobthis question may be better to ask your doctor.
Avatar f tn Some may argue you can have a period during pregnancy but by definition of a monthly period you would shed the uterine lining along with everything in and on it. I believe you can have bleeding during pregnancy but it does not come from within your uterus. Again i would honestly go get checked by the dr just to be certain.
Avatar f tn I was told by my obgyn that I'm not getting preg because I have a thin uterine lining. Is there anything that can be given to treat this? Can my obgyn perscribe me something or will I need a reproductive specialist?
Avatar f tn Orgasms do cause uterine contractions. If it continues or gets stronger it you start bleeding a lot, you should call your doctor or L&D. Otherwise some stomach cramping is normal. Evena little bleeding (spotting) is normal.
Avatar f tn The symptoms of adenomyosis include heavy bleeding, cramping or sharp, knife-like pelvic pain during menstruation, cramps that last throughout your period and worsen as you get older, pain during intercourse, bleeding between periods and passing blood clots during periods. To rule it out, you may get ultrasound or MRI done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't. Menstruation is triggered by hormones that are not present in large amounts in a normal pregnancy. Those hormones are systemic, so should affect both of your uteri. That is not to say it can't happen (some women with a single uterus have bleeding/spotting during pregnancy). Congratulations! You should probably schedule a prenatal appointment asap. Are you already taking prenatal vitamins?

Avatar f tn Well since Friday I have been having Braxton hicks contractions, every day they get more & more intense & frequent & are extremely painful. My doctor found nothing, said bc my cervix was closed, wasn't shortening as of my last ultrasound that I'm fine. Well now I'm lightly spotting. Avatar m tn Decidual bleeding is where you only shed a little part of the uterine lining, whereas in a menstural cycle you shed all of the lining. It can be hard to tell the two apart, as the flow can be quite similar. In most cases with decidual bleeding, it's not quite as long or the flow might not be quite as heavy. Another difference is, is that decidual bleeding is very uncommon. Most women will never experience this.
